5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting and Dangerous, July 7, 2007
The Angels of Death is riveting book about the Hells Angels quest for global domination. Reads like a thriller where the most exciting part is about ATF's undercover operation. Well recommended and hard to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maiden 4-Ever, April 15, 2007
This is a really great book. Not only as it is the biography of one of the greatest heavy metal bands: Iron Maiden written by excellent writer Mick Wall (of Kerrang / Classic Rock fame). The book perfectly describes the bands unique determination to keep playing and growing continuously as band members are exchanged and overall music trends are changing.

The band's story is very inspirational and instills the mantra to never give up and keep fighting for what you thing is right will give results. Well recommended to all fans of music.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rock in A Hard Place, April 15, 2007
I picked up this book expecting full-on rock stories with behind the scenes and great tales of rock excess as in the pages of RIP and Lonn's other ventures. The book has great rock content and stories (i.e. Aerosmith, Metallica, Bon Jovi), but also a large part of the book is about Lonn's "rise and fall" within the music industry, and his settling the score and getting on with his personal life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chuck's take on 80's Heavy Metal--Like goin' to the Shrink!, February 16, 2003
Here's a really great book about 80's Heavy Metal that takes the subject beyond the usual clichés. Chuck writes it from his perspective growing up in a rural town where these rock maniacs where part of his upbringing and served as a way to break free from ordinary "boring" life. Chuck delivers his opinions straight-up on how he sees things--and lists tons of bands in the genre that sucks and why! Like he say's a lot of the music was crap, but (with a big but!) the stuff that didn't --were amazing! From GNR to Van Halen to Mötley Crue read about their importance for kids growing up--at least get the authors take on it and bring out those records and cassettes again!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Legendary Boston mobster tied to the FBI., February 5, 2003
This review is from: Black Mass (Paperback)
Great book about the Irish mob in Boston and their leader "Whitey" Bugler's mix-up with the FBI. Being Irish and growing up in the same neighbourhood built a stronger bond that what side on the law they were working for. The FBI detective John Connolly and the people around him managed to include the fearsome leader as an informant to get information on the Italian mob, and in return keep him informed and sheltered from the police/authorities. The authors (Boston Globe reporters) managed to uncover this unbelievable and compelling story. The book is well written and keeps up the excitment from start to finish.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard Rock Heyday Revisited, February 5, 2003
This is a fast, esay & fun read about the rise and fall of hard rock/heavy metal looked at in an 80's "hair-rock" perspective. Most of the material is from the major rock magazines at the time completed with the actual participants contributing their take on what it was like. If you where growing up with the scene, than you'd probably be aware of most of the storyline, but even the most hardcore fan will enjoy revisiting the era and pick up a few new tales they didn't know about. The book covers most of the bands at the time and their story of rise and fall (Well, some bands are still rocking like back in their prime!) and gives some interesting portraits of the people behind it all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wags delivers the goods - - NYPD the real way!, August 26, 2002
Jimmy does it again! This book deals with his years in the NYPD, and goes right up to the start of his PI career (the first book). As before he delivers the goods retelling his most amazing and dazzling stories of life and crime in New York in a personal and well written way. The book also deals with the person behind the badge, the associates, the friends, the family, and not the least the importance of not letting the job get to you. Starting out in the 60's to the early 90's the way cops work has changed tremendously and Wags takes you on that ride!!! Recommended read.

4.0 out of 5 stars The download on the Fashion industry!, January 10, 2002
This is an interesting and well written business book about the fashion industry and some of its most important designers. The author describes the growth and changes in the fashion industry and the changing role of the customer and the designers. The books material is mainly focused on the US marketplace and the different stand-offs between ex. Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, the growth of Armani and the Italian designers, and the decline of the French. The main thing is that it nowadays more comes down to great marketing and expensive ad budgets to stay successful, that great design techniques. Overall great insight into an industry mostly concerned on hype and over inflated egos.
