5.0 out of 5 stars Another Sam Keith Gem, January 29, 2008
This review is from: Ojo (Paperback)
Sam Keith has a great talent for creating work that is cathartic, translating tragedy into art. In general I love work that is surreal and dreamy and I always feel that with Sam Keith I'm guaranteed to see work that is eye catching. However, I'm used to surrealism sometimes falling into pretension simply because the artist wasn't able to or didn't want to present themes that were universal. Sam Keith is a master at understanding failure and triumph and his work, which typically gets very personal, displays this successfully. Ojo is just another good example from an artist who is consistently great at what he does.

2.0 out of 5 stars major disappointment, December 26, 2007
Looking at my 80's box, I am very disappointed with it. I cannot believe that there is a 1 liter bottle of soda in this small box, it takes up a third of all the space! This is a flat out rip-off, that was space that could have had candy! Not to mention that it isn't even a brand that we'd ever heard of, so it does us zero for nostalgia. Furthermore, there are more suckers in the box than anything else! I feel like this box, which should have been very easy, was completely thrown together without much thought and is complete garbage, especially as most of the candy is still available in stores.

I had to spend more money just to fill in that empty third of the box when I threw the soda away!

4.0 out of 5 stars Straight to the point, July 30, 2007
It's a simple quick read and informative overview of the history of Northern Chinese opera. A good number of photographs of famous actors and theaters are found in the middle of the book. I look at it as a good intro to a subject that has been written about in much more detail mostly in text books.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT PURCHASE THIS DVD!, March 7, 2007
Gilliam wanted this dvd released at 2.25.1 aspect ratio and instead ThinkFilm is distributing it at 1.77.1, cropping out image that Gilliam wants you to see! To make matters worse Gilliam gave them the correct aspect ratio and ThinkFilm decided to against it. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS DVD! Wait for a better edition which ThinFilm claims there will be!
