5.0 out of 5 stars The best grunge album ever! Forget about "Nevermind"!, August 3, 2006
This review is from: Dirt (Audio CD)
Grunge was a good but not great genre. I liked Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, and even Foo Fighters but not so much that it goes into my top 10 list. I didn't like Nirvana at all and thought they were extremely overrated. However there's one grunge band that I really liked. It was Alice in Chains...

This piece of art is classified as grunge but as the editorial review states it does sound a lot like Queensryche thus making it half grunge and half progressive metal. Layne Stanley(RIP) is one of the best vocalists ever! He sings with a ton of passion and he isn't annoying like Kurt Cobain of other pu s s ys like Jonathan Davis. Guitarist Jerry Cantrell although not my favorite member(that honour goes to Layne) is a very good guitarist. My favorite song is "Rooster". It's very emotional and has an amazing video that wasn't severly overplayed like Nirvana's cr a p. So just buy this album now and listen to the best of grunge, NOT NIRVANA!!!

RIP Layne Stanley :'(

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic by the jungle boys of metal!, August 3, 2006
This review is from: Arise (Audio CD)
In 1991, Sepultura released their fourth full-length album "Arise". This album was their third best just behind "Chaos A.D." and "Beneath the Remains". This album marked a change in Max's voice. From the Tom Araya style vocals in their first three albums to the death metal growling that's present on this album and on "Chaos A.D." and "Roots". The drums on this album by Igor Cavalera are awesome. Igor has to be one of the most underrated drummers in metal! Andreas Kisser although he has done better on other Sepultura albums still does a good job on here handling the solos. My favorite song on this album is "Desperate Cry". Other highlights are the title track, "Dead Embryonic Cells", and "Altered State". Don't forget to get all of Sepultura's studio albums from "Morbid Visions" to "Chaos AD". And once again avoid all of that Derrick Green, "Roots" and Soulfly cr a p!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful...just beautiful!, August 3, 2006
This review is from: Images & Words (Audio CD)
Dream Theater have to be one of the most progressive and talented metal bands ever! Before Opeth, this was the metal band with the longest song lengths.

First of all to that fu c k "chingy's #1 fan!!!!!!!!!" you should shut your as s up! You like cr a p like Chingy and 50 Cent and hate awesome bands like Dream Theater and Led Zeppelin. Go get some brain surgery and lay off the MTV!

Now on to the album. This is Dream Theater's first album with vocalist James LaBrie who is an excellent vocalist who sounds quite similar to Queensryche's Geoff Tate. John Petrucci is one of the most underrated guitarists ever! He's a classically trained guitarist but his solos are breathtaking. My other favorite member is keyboardist Kevin Moore who almost gives this band a European flavour even these guys are American. "Pull Me Under" is the album's most "popular" song but it wasn't really mainstream which is cool. My favorite song has to be the 11-minute epic "Learning to Live". Other standouts are "Pull Me Under", "Metropolis, Pt. 1", and "Take the Time".

So you should definatly buy this amazing and progressive album. Ignore idiots like "chingy's #1 fan!!!!!!!!" or "Luci" who hates this but likes cr a p like Puddle of Mudd, Good Charlotte, and Evanescence.

5.0 out of 5 stars Underrated masterpiece!, July 31, 2006
This review is from: ...And Justice For All (Audio CD)
In 1988 Metallica released their 4th and most underrated album "...And Justice for All". This was the first album with new bassist Jason Newsted after the super tragic death of original bassist Cliff Burton. While not as good as Burton, Jason is really good. This album is Metallica's most complex and epic album. The songs on this album are extremely long (some of them are almost 10 minutes long!) and despite the fact that Metallica made their first video for "One" from this album, this album doesn't sound mainstream at all which is cool

The big problem with this album though is of course the production quality. The guitars buzz weird, the drums sound hollow, and the bass is hard to hear(which is a shame because this is after all Jason Newsted's first album) but that doesn't even come close to stopping this album from being a masterpiece. The double-bass drumming is wicked and these epic songs are beautiful and awesome!

Favorite songs in order:

1. One

2. ...And Justice for All

3. Blackened

4. To Live Is to Die

5. Frayed Ends of Sanity

6. Shortest Straw

7. Eye of the Beholder

8. Harvester of Sorrow

9. Dyer's Eve

So this is my 3rd favorite Metallica album. Only "Master of Puppets" and "Ride the Lightning" come ahead although this album has the best ballad("One") and the best epic instrumental("To Live Is to Die") the band has ever done. Buy it now!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Umm...where to begin?, July 26, 2006
This review is from: Follow The Leader (Audio CD)
So we've come to Korn, the starter of this awful nu-metal craze that's plaging the world. PLEASE STOP ALREADY!!! Korn are such an idiotic band that they make pansies like Marilyn Manson and Slipknot look like legends like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest! So many things wrong with this band that it ain't funny!

You can start by saying that Jonathan Davis is one of THE most whiniest vocalists in the history of metal! He's second to Linkin Park's Chester Bennington as the most whiney metal vocalist. The two guitarists are super sloppy and why are there two guitarists when neither of them even come close to soloing?! The drums are mediocre at best. The bass is barely audible and when you do hear it, it makes some weird creeking sound that's hard on the ears.

How about the lyrics, pretty predictable nu-metal bullsh i t. Jonathan Davis whines about his cr a p py life or how he got raped by his mother(?!?!) or how he's such a victim. The band tries to act cool by swearing a lot but they just sound like the Eminem of nu-metal.

So there you have. The album and band that brought nu-metal mainstream. Even though I hate most nu-metal, the only three bands in this genre that are good are Tool, System of a Down, and Helmet. Listen to them instead of this fu c ked up sh i t.

And there's even a track with Fred Durst...

Then the retards at MTV allow Paris to become a music star as an alternative to her questionable career. She quotes, "WEN U PUT IT 2GETHER, U GET A MAGIKAL AXPERIANCE!!!"

Yes such a magical experience. This beautiful 2 star average surely makes it magical. This is music for posers and preppies, that's all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dimmu Borgir's best album!, July 16, 2006
In 1997 Dimmu Borgir released their third and best album "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant". This is the album where everything came together and started working for this band. This was their major label debut (they weren't mainstream by any means though) and the first album to have lyrics in English rather than Norweigen like their first two albums. Don't get me wrong, I liked their debut "For All Tid" although I was disappointed with their sophomore album "Stormblast". To have the lyrics in English was a good thing in my opinion. Also the production quality is actually good this time and that was the best improvement on this album because their first two albums had terrible production quality. The musicianship is also awesome. I really don't have a favorite song on this album yet though. I think I'll take "In Death's Embrace" as my favorite Dimmu Borgir song. Great stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars YEOW!!!, July 16, 2006
Wow, it really took me this long to get into "Follow the Reaper" by Children of Bodom! Children of Bodom are basically melodic death metal combined with thrash and combined with power metal but what makes this band special is their sense of humour which is new to the genre. People who are tired of melodic death metal taking itself too seriously should check out Children of Bodom! I mean the guitars and keyboards steal the show here! Beautiful solos and melodies are present and they really stand out in the song "Kissing the Shadows". That song is definatly my favorite song on this album! To add to their sense of humour they have a song called "Bodom After Midnight" which is a play on the Judas Priest song "Living After Midnight" which is quite clevar! This album comes second to "Hate Crew Deathroll". In fact all of Children of Bodom's albums are excellent except for their new one "Are You Dead Yet?" which sounds way too metalcore. Kick as s stuff here!

This sh i t ty Canadian emo girl known as Avril Lavigne is making ears bleed everywhere. I mean come on with her super-whiney voice, her stupid lyrics about how she feels misunderstood and can't find true love, her abysmal guitar playing, and her MTV success. THIS IS NOT PUNK!!! How can anyone in the entire fu c king world compare this cr a p to The Sex Pistols?! Man is the apocalypse coming, just like what Mills said... Avoid this waste management and listen to real punk like The Ramones, The Misfits(Danzig), The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Black Flag, MC5, or Pennywise!
