This book is compared to the Dog Stars in the description, but though interesting and mildly entertaining, it is not as good as The Dog Stars. Insomnia can be a bit boring.

Though a little bulky, the Otterbox Defender case for iPad is the ultimate protection for your tablet. Like for the iPhone drop survival is likely.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Earth Shattering, but Useful Nonetheless, February 20, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The Graphic Designer's Guide to Portfolio Design is a useful introduction to how a graphic designer - or anyone of a creative nature - should approach creating their portfolio. There is nothing ground-breaking with this book, but for those that need a jump-start on the process, it will serve that purpose.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Special, February 20, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The ADX Rechargeable LED Flantern (oh so clever) is functional. The concept is interesting and essentially works. It is constructed well enough for use around the house. The light is bright enough for simple emergency lighting needs. I have not had an issue with battery life yet - that will be the real test over time.

1.0 out of 5 stars I Cannot Believe this is from Lexar, February 20, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Lexar - the company I trust most for my cameras' digital media needs - has really phoned it in with this one. It hasn't stopped working me... yet. But, I haven't used it all that much because it is so flimsy, so cheaply constructed, I am afraid to put in my pocket for fear of its survival.

3.0 out of 5 stars Simple Monitor Calibration, February 20, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The Spyder series of monitor calibration devices have always been one of the best out there. But, as new versions come out from Datacolor - just like the others such as X-rite - they have been offering a larger array of options. The express version of this calibration tool is a good choice for the casual photographer or others interested in basic monitor calibration. It is not robust enough in features and options to be useful for those that need a serious tool for the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better Than I Expected, February 20, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I figured that Datacolor was jumping on the bandwagon of lens calibration - possibly an overrated issue with modern cameras and lenses. But, I was impressed with the ability to micro-adjust my lenses with the Datacolor Spyder LensCal SLC100.

Here are the cameras that this should be compatible with:

Nikon: D7000, D300, D300s, D700 (I have), D800 (I have), D800E, D3, D3s, D3x, D4
Canon: 50D, 7D, 5D MkII, 5D MkIII,1D MkIII, 1D MkIV, 1Ds MkIII, 1Dx, 1DC
Sony: A850, A900, A77 (probably the newer full frame as well)
Olympus: E-30, E-620, E-5 (and newer)

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Little Hard Drives!, February 20, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I cannot yet attest to the longevity of the new Western Digital My Passport Air portable hard drives - but, I can say that my track record with Western Digital portable hard drives is rock solid - but what I can tell you is I am very impressed with these hard drives... so much so, I have bought four in total.

First off, these drives are very thin... well less than an inch. But even more impressive - and this now seems to go for all the WD portable drives targeted at Mac users - these drives are housed in a solid metal case. Overall construction of these drives is very good and designed to last.

With the USB 3.0 connection, these drives are fairly fast... as fast as you can expect from a 5400 rpm portable drive. And, I have not noticed any really hit to the computer's battery while they are in use.

I highly recommend these portable hard drives.
