Priceless Baby Monitor
, May 16, 2011
As a new dad who is constantly worried about the health and safety on my daughter, this monitor gives me piece of mind. Unlike some of the other reviews, I found the system quite easy to install and configure. I had it running in less than 10 minutes. The 2 motion pads go under the mattress (I bought 2 small pieces of plywood from Lowes that fit the crib without cutting). The pads connect to each other and then to the transmitter (triangular shaped device with ring at the top). The transmitter has 2 switches; on/off and nightlight on/off. All of the configuration is achieved using the parental receivers. You can configure the system to alert you when the baby makes noise, stops moving, and when the temperature in the room is too hot or too cold. You can select to receive audible alerts or vibrating alerts or both. When the system is active, if there is no motion detected after a some period of time, the transmitter will beep really loud in the baby's room. This beep is a reminder for the baby to breath in case he/she is suffering from apnea. If there is still no motion detected after the beep, the system will alert via the parental receivers. There is also a sensitivity adjustment knob on the back of the transmitter to you can make it more or less sensitive depending on how deeply your baby breathes. It will likely take a couple of alarming nights to get the sensitivity adjusted to your baby.
This is a must-have for every parent and it's fairly inexpensive for the functionality.
