3.0 out of 5 stars I like it, cops didn't., March 17, 2015
Honestly, who would have though that carrying a hip flask could be considered an "open container" and that taking a wee drop within could be misconstrued as "public consumption of alcohol"? OK, I know that a hip flask is designed to lay close to the body in order to be discrete, but who wants to hide the nifty barometer? With my face in the pavement and a knee in my back I tried to inform the officer that I was not a simple "punk" as he had suggested but rather a "Steampunk" from an imaginary and technologically stagnant parallel Victorian world. At this comment he became what he characterized as a "Steam-Cop" and employed his Steam Truncheon and Steam Cuffs to effectively illustrate Victorian era law enforcement methods.

Great adventure with larger than-life characters. One of the most enjoyable tales from the period I have ever read and highly recommend it for young readers especially.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun, great entertainment., November 2, 2014
David Tennant is my favorite Doctor, although I've enjoyed all of the new regenerations. Excellent relationship dynamic between the Doctor and Donna, more platonic and a nice change of pace from the Season 1-3. Although fans of desperate, clinging love do get Rose back for a visit and fans of enthralled, sparkling love get Martha back in a more substantial return. Lots of fun, lots of action and lots of saving the world from nefarious forces, what's not to love?

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very good at all., October 3, 2014
This review is from: Islay (MP3 Music)
To associate these wonderful whiskies, the creation of which requires such love, dedication and the graceful action of time with death metal is nothing short of obscene. Nothing about these songs is evocative of the whiskies or the environment and seems nothing more than a shallow attempt to combine an inferior and strident artistic effort with distilleries who's product is both transcendental and sublime.

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh... everything here has been done before, but better., September 10, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After hearing all the gushing reviews, and having really enjoyed the Avengers, Captain America The Winter Soldier was a disappointment. The Winter Soldier himself comes off as boring, rather like Bane. What should be good and plausible science fiction / action movie attempts to use intense special effects, intricate sets and grand imagery to support the film, rather than a genuinely good story built around characters.

Pacific Crest Baby Boiled Clams, 10-Ounce (Pack of 24)
Price: $63.36

2.0 out of 5 stars Warning! Not a product of Thailand., August 26, 2014
Despite being listed as a product of Thailand, the label clearly states that these baby clams are a product of China. Although this doesn't prove they're no good, the listing is deceptive and there's got to be a reason for that deception other than a simple typo in the description. Buyer beware.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but we have been spoiled by the truly amazing Sorrento lemon candies., August 24, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My wife and I bought the lemon hard candy in Sorrento and have been looking for them. These Napoleon Sours are pretty good, but certainly not up to the quality of those purchased in Sorrento. The flavor is wonderful but the candies themselves are considerably smaller, lack the numerous pockets of lemon essence scattered throughout the originals and were obviously heated too much during production, the candies I received are brittle and shatter into numerous shards almost immediately. Perhaps it was a bad batch due to high production quotas or the candies themselves were old stock, but I will not purchase these candies from this vendor again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful product, outstanding service., May 29, 2014

I ordered the G4 Warm White bulbs for my garden and patio lights in order to squeeze more efficiency from a limited power supply. My power usage dropped from over 300 watts down to approx. 45 watts and each light is at least as bright as the 20 watt halogens they replaced. The bulbs are very well made and do not heat up the housings at all. I ordered the 10 bulb pack and it arrived well packed and in a timely manner. The vendor followed up with an inquiry as to my satisfaction and when informed that one of my bulbs was defective they apologized and immediately refunded the cost of the defective lamp.

Great product, great customer care. I highly recommend these lamps and vendor.

The Vikings

4.0 out of 5 stars A more rational view of the Norse peoples., April 20, 2014
This review is from: The Vikings (Kindle Edition)
It's true that the ancient Norse were brutal, they lived in a brutal world and mastered one of the most challenging environments humans have ever settled. They were also supremely capable, adventurous and courageous. Their subtle influence lives on in us and the world today and represents a stronger, more heroic element of humanity which is sadly disappearing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Can they fix multiplayer? And if so, who cares?, October 30, 2013
With high hopes I arrived home to find BF4 on the doorstep. I immediately loaded it in my XBox 360, installed the required patches and updates and entered mutiplayer, eager to explore the new maps and begin ranking up.

I was able to enter a server easily enough, but it looks like I was the only one. For over 2 hours I explored maps, trying out weapons and doing reconnaisance and never saw another player, a scroll through the server lists shows a lot of empty servers.

As far as graphics, this game is nearly as good as Modern Warfare 3. Granted, the maps are huge and with a lot of interesting angles and environments, but the quality of graphics is really quite poor, at least on the 360. The hype over destrucable environments is just that, hype. It's a gimmick that isn't realized nearly as well as advertised, but that's to be expected. I knocked down a couple of awnings, blew a hole in a wall by shooting a fuel drum, and took down a tree with a grenade that never stopped rolling around awkwardly.

As with other BF titles, snipers are going to be a HUGE part of the game, and there's going to be a LOT of them since most players lack the quick reaction skills for effective CQB. Setting up a special class and developing tactics designed to mitigate their effectiveness or eliminate them entirely will bring an extremely valuable skill set to your team.

The weapons feel nice, sound great, have a good amount of kick and controllable recoil. Greanade launchers are accurate and have a good blast effect. The standard P226 seems like it's going to be a good weapon for close quarters combat since there doesn't seem to be anything like a compact SMG (such as the UMP45, or MP7), it's accurate, fires quickly and controllably and it reloads quickly. I can't say what it's damage values are on any of the weapons, since I never saw a live target. The default weapons, such as the AK12, are among the best the game has to offer. But, there is little incentive to upgrade to a weapon that doesn't outperform the one recruits are given, other than liking the way it looks and being prepared to take a performance hit to look "cool".

Yeah, I know it's the first day of a new release and issues are bound to happen, but I eventually put MW3 back in and had a great time playing Domination. Hopefully they'll fix the bugs that are crippling multiplayer because the maps are nice, just don't expect an improvement over the graphics that you're used to, this is not that game. I'm sure that it'll look a lot better on the PC, or the new consoles, but for PS3 or 360 users BF4 is not exactly blowing the doors off the competition.

Oh, well... only 6 days until Ghosts releases and after seeing what DICE has offered up, the need of a great new game for the holiday season is even more critical.
