2.0 out of 5 stars I really liked it initially, September 1, 2014
I really liked it initially. It was the perfect size to carry around in the side pocket of my backpack as I went around university. Worked quite well, but within a couple months the white plastic on the bottom started to chip and split. By the end of the school year the white parts around the sides and bottom had completely fallen apart. The blue water bottle part was entirely intact, but there were sharp, jagged pieces of plastic around it. Sadly, it went to the great recycling pit in the sky and I replaced it with a not as nice, but more durable, Klean Kanteen.

1.0 out of 5 stars One of the worst movies of the past few years, August 25, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This was beyond terrible. The plot and script had more holes than a paper shredder. The graphics were as good as the Call of Duty videogame.

Bought these sheets due to the high rating. They're terrible. Very rough, scratchy and itchy. Even after washing numerous times. Just terrible.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, December 27, 2011
Internet smear campaign: activate. Horribly abusive company of liars. Please avoid.

They promise ship dates, and don't deliver. They ignore and berate their paying customers. They represent all the worst of low cost manufacturing.

5.0 out of 5 stars It really walks!, December 13, 2010
At first when I saw the title and the bargain basement price I was skeptical. For only $790 I could really get a life size walking polar bear? But my overwhelming desire to show up all the people at the dog park walking their greyhounds overwhelmed me, and I pludged ahead.

My risk turned into a big reward! Not only is this polar bear life size, but it really walks. It's not very fast, but what do you expect for a stuffed animal? Just put on a collar and leash and take a stroll down the street. You'll be the envy of the neighborhood, just like me.

2.0 out of 5 stars iPhoto '11 distinctly worse than previous, October 27, 2010
This review is from: iLife '11 [OLD VERSION] (Software)
I purchased iLife '11 mostly blind, hoping for improvements to iPhoto when dealing with Faces, Places and in general. Unfortunately after some use I wish I could uninstall and return it.

I did not suffer the corruption issues others have reported, but I've found it to be distinctly unpleasant to use for the following reasons:
* No full screen for images. Any full screen maintains significant amounts of menu bars around the image
* Email exporting is terrible - it uses only the bad built in email client, you can't use the default one
* You can't zoom in on a picture
* Export doesn't work as reliably
* The interface for tagging faces is way, way more awkward to do in bulk
* There aren't actually any material improvements to faces & places that I can see. You can't really do anything better with places like see photos on a map, and faces looks exactly identical, but tagging is slightly harder to get to.
* The info pane now takes up a huge portion of the right part of the screen. In the past it was just a small part of the left side bar.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work for SD cards, February 5, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Quite simply this reader does not work. I've plugged it into multiple computers with known good cards, and it doesn't work. The device shows up as a USB device, but the card is not available. The red light on the device lights up, but it doesn't work. I suggest you avoid it.

Dead Aid: Why Aid Is Not Working and How There Is a Better Way for Africa
Dead Aid: Why Aid Is Not Working and How There Is a Better Way for Africa
by Dambisa Moyo
Edition: Hardcover

1.0 out of 5 stars Short sighted and insufficient evidence, April 2, 2009
Ms Moyo's book has some interesting ideas. However the facts don't agree with her, a fact that she's conveniently decided to ignore. She lumps together a complicated and nuanced history of millions of people over 50 years into a single bin. She then uses questionable statistics to provide evidence for her claims.

She conflates some issues with admittedly faulty implementations of aid with a fundamental problem with the idea of aid. In recent years aid has become more effective and is the only life lines for millions of Africans who would otherwise die of disease and starvation.

Nobody wants a dependent Africa that must beg for table scraps. However pulling aid will quite literally kill huge numbers of people in the name of ideology. Aid is a key part of turning Africa into an independent, prosperous continent. Until that time comes the bridge it provides should not be destroyed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible resource, November 5, 2002
Sadly this seems to be out of print now, but it's the single best resource I've ever seen for anything video. We wanted to use it as a textbook at school, but can't find a source for enough copies at a reasonable price.
I highly recommend picking this up if you've ever wondered "Just what does NTSC stand for" or "How do you use color bars"
