3.0 out of 5 stars Improves ergonomics, but very poorly designed, October 13, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When I noticed that the 3DS XL was causing my hands to cramp up even after short periods, I went looking for a suitable hand grip. Each of the various grips had their own major drawbacks, including Nintendo's own Circle Pad Pro.

This grip is no different, sadly. Although it does make the 3DS XL much more comfortable to use, it's marred by two very serious flaws.

First, like many other grips, the stylus is inaccessible when the grip is attached. This is made much worse by the fact that it's actually only *partially* blocked, and they could have easily carved out some space to provide access. Also, an alternate slot or clip to hold the stylus could've solved the problem.

Second, the thing is very cheaply made. Almost right out of the box, with only very gentle handling, the front clip that holds the 3DS in place broke right off. Looking at the design, there's no way this piece of plastic would hold up to any real force. I shouldn't have to superglue a critical retaining piece in place and hope that my 3DS doesn't fall out.

While the soft-touch rubberized surface isn't bad, it's literally comprised of a few cheap pieces of plastic. At $15, it feels like a poor value, especially given the thoughtless design. With a few tweaks, this could've been a clear winner, but unfortunately it's just mediocre as it is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good case with a questionable latch, August 25, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The clear plastic part of this case is mostly indistinguishable from the original GoPro waterproof case, except a few of the plastic edges aren't as nicely finished — and of course, there's a hole on the side. In fact, this case looks like it was manufactured as an waterproof case, with a rectangular hole simply cut out of the side.

The opening is a reasonable size, large enough to accommodate the mini USB cable I had on hand. However, do note that the hole does not provide enough clearance to access the microSD card, if that matters to you.

The weakest point of the case is easily the latch, however. It's not designed like the OEM latch, and the design of it makes it very difficult to both open and close. It's prone to sliding out instead of rotating smoothly in place. It's also made entirely of plastic (without any metal rods to support the hinge), so if the latch fails, there isn't really a backup to hold things together.

As a bonus, the case came with a small lens cloth. All in all, a good value, but may not be the best choice if you need frequent access to the camera inside because of the terrible latch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not an exact replacement, but fairly close, August 25, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this latch to replace a broken one on a tight schedule. As usual, Prime shipping is fast and the item arrived as described.

Although it's very similar to the original latch, it's actually inferior in two important ways:

- The locking tab does not slide smoothly; it neither snaps to the locked position when closing the latch, nor does it slide back if I move it while it's already closed. (I can move it with my finger, but the spring is too weak to overcome the friction on its own.) Fortunately, it does snap back when I tug on the closed latch, which is what saves this product from being totally useless. I'm not sure if it's a manufacturing or design defect, but obviously the original part did not have this problem.

- The additional tab for lifting the latch is not present, making this a bit harder to open than the original. It's still doable, but definitely not as easy because the area your finger is gripping is is much smaller.

Otherwise, build quality appears to be on par with the original -- that is, just adequate. It's still a plastic part, after all. Given that it seems to hold the case shut securely, but the manufacturing and design drawbacks don't give me the utmost confidence.

Side note: reportedly, GoPro can provide replacement latch parts, although they do not sell them. There's some anecdotal evidence on the web that you can get a replacement by contacting support. I haven't tried this yet, however.

1.0 out of 5 stars This thing is *terrible*, July 15, 2014
Seriously, this lock is as bad as everyone says. We picked one up at a local store, and the first bad sign was that the ring would not turn smoothly. After changing the combination, the lock refused to open and the ring got even harder to turn.

This is a seriously defective product. Even if it worked as advertised, the design of the ring is flawed; it's slippery and very difficult to use. Terrible.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice cap, but easily lost, June 16, 2014
This lens cap came standard on my Sony FE 35mm f/2.8 lens (SEL35F28Z), but I lost it within a couple of weeks -- and I'm very careful with my gear. The weak springs, combined with the shallow filter thread on the lens hood, make this cap pop right off with the slightest nudge! It's not very secure at all, so it's no surprise you're probably here to buy a replacement too. :)

For what it's worth, a slightly larger cap fits very snugly on the lens itself (which has a different filter thread size than the hood), but can't be used in combination with the hood itself.

Build quality and design are adequate. I just wish I didn't have to keep worrying about losing the darn thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ordering rice online? Sure, why not, May 15, 2014

I love rice. I'm lucky enough to have a big Asian market fairly close by, but sometimes, let's face it ... it's just easier to order stuff on Amazon. I blame the free shipping.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice and sharp, but no locking closure, May 15, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These cutters cut well, and are comfortable to use. The main downside is that they're spring-loaded, but don't have an integrated lock or closure mechanism, so they can be a bit dangerous to toss into a toolbox or bag. You're on your own to figure out a way to keep them closed, or find a safe place to keep them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Greatly improves ergonomics of the DualShock 3, May 15, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have no idea why the DualShock 3's trigger buttons are convex. They're very difficult to grip -- especially when you're trying to hold them down.

After short play sessions with the DS3, I would have hand/wrist pain that I had never experienced before. I realized that I was subconsciously trying to compensate for the slippery triggers, which meant sustaining my hands in awkward positions. Ouch.

These clip-on trigger attachments effectively make the buttons convex, so that your fingers won't slide right off of them. They're basically a few cents' worth of injection-molded plastic, but they do fit snugly and do the job.

(I haven't used the silicone caps, so I can't comment on those.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid shorts, but runs very large, May 15, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: RVCA Men's Sayo Short (Apparel)
These are a good pair of shorts, but the sizing seems way off. I had to go a size down just to get one that fit, and even then, it's a bit too loose.

The pants do shrink in the dryer, and yet, I wish I'd gone down two sizes. Strangely, I own other pants from RVCA in the exact same size that fit much better ...

4.0 out of 5 stars Effective, but a little glossy, May 15, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Like another reviewer, I bought this protective screen for my A7 because I was happy with the same product for a previous camera (NEX-7). The other one's been on the camera for more than two years, and basically looks brand new despite occasional, casual use. It's very easy to keep clean: smudges come right off, as advertised.

The protector is fairly easy to apply. The package includes a very large, soft microfiber cloth for preparing your screen (a nice bonus), and "dust removers" (which are basically just ordinary labels) to pick up any remaining dust fragments. So far, I haven't had any issues with bubbles or trapped lint because this combination is pretty effective, if you're careful enough. The instructions include a link to a YouTube video that demonstrates the process, too.

Two protectors are included, which is yet another nice bonus. I haven't yet had to replace one, but it's always handy to have an extra one.

The only complaint I have is that the protector is somewhat glossy. Immediately after I applied the protector to my A7, I noticed that I could see more reflections in the screen. It doesn't meaningfully degrade image quality or impede usability, but a more anti-reflective surface would obviously be ideal.
