5.0 out of 5 stars No murders needed to make a book thrilling, January 18, 2009
Yes, at 58 I'm well over 13. Even more so(78)is my dear friend to whom I shall send this copy. At times we find the modern crime novels, though in many cases well written, just too stuffed with violence, murder, and every conceivable kind of misery. Than we take our refuge with Ken Holt and his friends, the Allen clan. Vile crooks are trying hard to bump them off in every book, but we can enjoy the reading without fear, knowing that they'll fail. The crooks, that is. The Vanishing Magician was, as a child and later, made a scapegoat for the crimes of others and this very well written novel deals with consequences of this. All Ken Holt books are good, but the psychological touch in this one makes it even more interesting for us grown-ups in quest of quality entertainment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can you ever get tired of this? I keep playing it over and over again., August 12, 2005
Response? Sheer ENTHUSIASM! No fillers here. Nothing but great songs from the great late fifties era of Rock'n Roll, sung by one of its greatest performers. As if this weren't enough, there are several bonus tracks, among which the old Billy Holiday song "Gloomy Sunday", with Ricky accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. A fascinating proof of his often surprising versatility. I sincerely warn everybody against refraining from acquiring this CD, seeing it would be SUCH a stupid thing to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock'n Roll. And more!, August 12, 2005
Thanks to a serendipitous stroke of luck, an old box accidentally coming to light, "More Songs By Ricky" can now be enjoyed in glorious 2-track stereo, sounding like it was intended to do in 1960, but didn't. Rock'n Roll? Yes! "Hey Pretty Baby" is a gem in the genre, but ... This is a collection containing various kinds of music, "That Warm Summer Night" being a gem of an entirely different kind. Both of those HUGE 1961 hits "Travelin' Man" and "Hello Mary Lou" included, and lots of other goodies that haven't gone stale at all during those four decades since they were taken out of the oven. As fresh and tasty as ever!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not all of us knew Rick was such a Country singer. TOO., August 12, 2005
Bought this CD out of sheer curiosity. Finding (okay, not surprisingly) that Rick's warm mellow voice was as well suited to Country as to Rock'n Roll. And guitar virtuoso James Burton on dobro is indeed something. Twenty-four songs, varied enough to offer new pleasant discoveries at each listening, for a long time. My personal favourites: "Take These Chains From My Heart" (where Rick sings a few lines in French!)and "Welcome To My World."
