STAINMASTER TruSoft Luxurious Bath Rug, 21 by 36-Inch, Linen
STAINMASTER TruSoft Luxurious Bath Rug, 21 by 36-Inch, Linen
Price: $29.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Very soft!, July 9, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I received the rug in beige -- it's a nice neutral color that will go with almost anything. The rug is extremely soft, made of 100% nylon, it was very cushiony. It was so soft that my young grandson thought it was a blanket and begged to sleep with it the first night it arrived!

I initially put the rug in the bathroom to use after getting out of the shower. And while it is very soft and feels great on the feet, it does not absorb water. Instead, the water seems to bead up on the surface of the rug which means it dries quickly, but if you step back on the rug before it's dry, you step onto a very cold rug from all the water droplets that have beaded up on the surface. I think this rug will be better suited to being in front of the vanity to stand on while performing all those necessary activities.

I wouldn't say I am dissatisfied with the rug but if I had purchased it exclusively as a bath mat intended to be outside the shower or tub, then I would have to take it back, or as in this instance, just move it to a different area of the bathroom.

I did appreciate how soft the rug was, it does dry quickly, and the color was a nice shade of beige. The backing on the mat keeps the rug in place to prevent sliding on my ceramic tile bath floor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Professionally styled hair...at home!, July 8, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I really love the spornette large smooth operator round brush. You wouldn't think it would be evolutionary to create a brush that has a seamless handle BUT IT IS! This is the first round brush I have owned (and I literally have three others in my drawer right now) that has worked smoothly and not left my hair a tangled mess.

I have always been in awe of the blowout I get from my hairdresser when she uses a round brush and have bought several different kinds with different types of bristles and barrel diameters and have never achieved the same results. But this brush makes me feel like a pro. It glides easily through my hair (which is long -- down to the middle of my back, and plentiful -- I have A LOT of really fine hair) without creating a rat's nest of tangles. My fine hair typically ends up frizzy if I don't use a lot of product to tame it and some brushes create more frizz but the design of this barrel that heats up quickly dries the hair without damaging it. When I was finished, in half of my normal drying time, my hair was soft, had a nice curl to it, and my arm wasn't exhausted from trying to fight with the brush, my hair, and blow dryer.

Wholeheartedly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars A leap of faith in the darkness..., July 8, 2014
Superbly written and hauntingly poignant, this novel is destined to become a modern day classic with a character who is authentic, vulnerable, and so honest that it will make a reader's heart ache with the desire to protect her. Shelter her. Save her.

Emily Shepard was 16-years-old the day Reactor Number One exploded on the second to the last day of her junior year of high school at Reddington Academy. She and her parents, who both worked at the nuclear power plant nearby on Cape Abenaki, lived comfortably there in Reddington, Vermont -- also known as the Northeast Kingdom. On the morning of the meltdown, Emily ran away from the temporary evacuation site where all the students had been bussed to wait until parents and guardians would come to retrieve them from a safe zone. What follows is her tale of life basically alone on the streets -- for her mother and father are surely dead. And, what's even worse -- her father is being blamed for the disaster. Afraid to reveal who she really is, and teetering on the edge of emotional breakdown, Emily lives mostly inside her head remembering the poems of her much-loved favorite poet, Emily Dickinson, as a relatable gauge of her emotions. She's always been impulsive and had been in trouble before because of her poor judgment, but now she has to stay alive in a world so different from her previous life "waffling between suicide and survival."

I loved this book and feel that it will be very appealing to all ages, especially young adults, because the heroine is so believable -- not superhuman but real. The story is one that could have come straight from recent headlines (Fukushima) and will linger as a reminder that "radioactivity lasts as long as the soul." The title serves as both a precaution and a leap of faith. I'll be recommending this novel to everyone.

Thank you to NetGalley and Doubleday Books for the e-book ARC.

3.0 out of 5 stars "Change your thoughts and you change the world.", July 5, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The Beth Movies, featuring a young Kathleen (renamed Kick) Lannigan, are "still the most downloaded child pornography on the internet." Abducted by Mel Riley when she was only 6, Kick was kept secluded and was sexually exploited until a dramatic FBI rescue brought the damaged little girl home. Now 10 years after her ordeal, Kick is 21 and has reinvented herself as a serious student of self defense. Expert with weapons of every kind and in peak physical condition, it's only her mind that still exhibits the toll though Kick has tried every type of therapy known. Estsranged from her biological family, Kick and James (another abduction survivor) have used her settlement money to form a sort of investigation team using his computer skills and her insider knowledge of the child porn industry. Their goal is to try to find other missing or abducted children before it's too late. When a couple of children appear in Amber Alerts, Kick feels the familiar dread seep in, so when a mysterious man who calls himself John Bishop and says he needs her help with a job connected to the cases of Adam Rice and Mia Tuner, Kick finds herself in a helicopter back into remembered hell.

Does Kick have memories and skills that can help recover these two children and will this chance to help save some other child give her the relief she needs to assuage the guilt she feels because of what she did the night she was found. When the opportunity to see the dying Mel Riley in a prison infirmary brings back feelings she thought she had buried, she is more focused than ever on helping to make up for what she'd done and to release Mel's hold on her.

A bit uneven in pacing and with the ever popular damaged heroine protagonist, the novel moves along in spurts of present day interspersed with flashbacks that show only a little of what Kick's life was like during the years with Mel. It's quite obvious that Kick still has a lot to work through and needs much more psychological help. The relationship between Kick and Bishop is stereotypical and predictable. I never grew to develop any affinity for any of the characters despite the writing telling me I should, and never felt the threat of real evil or suspense in the story. The novel ends as you'd expect when knowing that this is the first book in a new series.

I've read all of Chelsea Cain's previous books and enjoyed part of the Archie and Gretchen story until it no longer made sense to me, so I was hoping this departure and fresh start would be a thriller in which I could rediscover some of the shock and awe that made the author's first books so addicting. Despite all the famous name gushing blurbs, this just didn't grab me or enthrall me as I'd wished. To be more specific of the ways it failed might produce spoilers, so I'll leave it to other readers to either agree with me or to have their own very diverse opinions. I'm not sure I'd read the second one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Small town secrets..., July 5, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Fast-paced and engrossing, this third book in the Keye Street series is one any lover of suspense thrillers must read!

Keye Street, disgraced and fired former FBI profiler, has her own private firm dealing with assorted investigations as well as tracking down bail jumpers and serving subpoenas. This time, she's asked to consult on a possible serial murder case in the small town of Whisper, Georgia. The body of a 13-year-old girl has been found deep in the woods in a National Park -- right next to another body of a girl approximately the same age who had been reported missing 11 years previously. With no obvious connection between the victims who did not know each other, Keye and Sherif Ken Meltzer see some clear evidence that these murders are related and that it might be the work of the same killer. As they pursue their investigation, the secrets of this small town are given up one by one. When they finally seem to be closing in, another young female victim is abducted. Can they find this sadistic psychopath before she too is murdered?

Nonstop action with a very believable and flawed female protagonist! Even though the reader might make the obvious jump to the identity of the serial killer, the path to the exposure is well-paced and it is impossible to put this book down until the unmasking.

I think it's very important to have read the previous books before opening this one as the character of Keye Street develops over the course of the narratives in each. She's a recovering alcoholic and totally self-destructive, but her mistakes and her relentless pursuit of insight make her a heroine to root for despite some of her missteps. More than a little insecure and afraid of commitment, she is slowly finding her way. I look forward to the next installment in this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the baby on the go!, June 29, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
We are typically Pampers and Kirkland brand diaper users so it was a departure from the norm for us to use Huggies and I am very pleased that we tried something new. The Huggies Little Movers were a great fit for our 15-month-old, 34 pound baby; he is walking, climbing, and running around non-stop. As the product design states, there are extra reinforcements at the closure to keep the diaper in place. I really appreciated that as our baby is very active, and often the diapers can sag or slip around -- the Huggies Little Movers did not do that. We also liked that you could refasten the diaper without worrying that it would come undone. Many times we're trying to diaper the baby when he is wiggling and impatient -- desperate to be off and running -- so sometimes it needs readjustment after the fact. As I said, we have a big baby: he is 33 inches and 34 pounds so finding a diaper that fits can be difficult but these worked great. They really did conform to his body and kept him dry overnight. I feel that he really challenged the leak lock system too as we put him in a diaper at 8 pm and then didn't change him in the middle of the night when he woke up to eat again. In the morning he was still dry and the bed wasn't soaked with urine. With other brands of diapers we would never be able to let him go unchanged in the middle of the night because his bed and pajamas would be wet. I'm certain, however, that every diaper would eventually leak when reaching its saturation and absorbancy threshold. We've had no issues with skin irritation or rash from using this product.

Diaper styles and brands are different and fit the various sizes and shapes of babies to a greater or lesser degree of satisfaction. I definitely recommend these diapers and will be purchasing them in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars No more rusty shower racks!, June 29, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This white mesh hanging shower caddy is something I had been considering for a while now. I was tired of the "stainless steel" caddy we bought six months ago that is now very stained and falling apart. This product seemed like a great solution! It is very easy to hook onto your existing shower curtain hooks. One of my favorite features of the pockets is that the ones on the lower row have holes at the bottom for shampoo and conditioner bottle lids to peek through so if you have the right kind of container you don't even have to take your shampoo out of the holder. It is also very convenient for when your bottle is getting empty as the caddy can hold it upside down for you and you don't have to figure out how to balance the bottle on the side of your shower just so. There are 3 small pockets on the top and 3 larger ones on the second row. I like that all of my items are now on the other side of the shower away from the water stream and thus my razor won't rust nearly as quickly!

Overall, I have really enjoyed this shower caddy and my only negative for it is that it does weigh down my shower curtain rod and strains the durable plastic hooks. We have also only been getting into our shower from one side as it is a little bulky. This hanging caddy will obviously not work for shower stalls with doors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Move over Fabuloso!, June 28, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
My old standby favorite multipurpose cleaner, Fabuloso 04307 Lavender Fragrance All Purpose Cleaner, 1 gallon, has some competition!!! I love trying out new cleaning products and comparing them. The most important things to me are
1) How much of it do I have to use to get desired effect
2) How hard must I scrub or how much effort is required
3) Does it leave a sticky film or residue (or have to be rinsed)
4) How does it smell

In the case of the Mr. Clean Liquid Muscle Gain Original Fresh Scent, I can definitely say that the product cleans well without giving me an intense scrubbing workout and it smells fresh without being too intense. I like how the scent lingers in the air of the rooms for awhile after I've finished cleaning. There's no sticky residue left behind and the cleaner doesn't need to be rinsed. I have a white linoleum kitchen floor and I was able to wipe out black scuff marks easily by using a squirt of the cleaner on a wet cloth. It did a great job on my porcelain sinks using a scrubber sponge pad, and most impressive, it got the floor of my fiberglass shower stall looking nice and white with direct application of the full strengh liquid and a small brush.

The dosing cap is interesting and I'll have to experiment with various dilutions of product and water to see how much or how little I need to use when doing my various chores. I don't really enjoy cleaning, but it's rewarding to see and smell the results. I'd definitely buy this again especially if it works as well diluted as it does full strength.

4.0 out of 5 stars Baiting moles and gophers..., June 26, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This product is designed to be user friendly once you have located and identified active burrows. According to the label, it is important to make sure that you put the bait underground and not topside in and around garden areas where food might become contaminated. The bait is useful for pocket gophers and moles only.

I have a good sized backyard (about 1/2 acre) that is full of these critters and finding which burrows were active took a little bit of time. Once located, you use the pointed tip of the container to poke a hole into the tunnel (you can also use a rod or stick to get deep enough) and then, using a measuring device that you can discard, drop about a teaspoonful into it. I put a flat stone or piece of cardboard over the hole but I don't fill it in after putting in the bait. I always wear waterproof latex gloves whenever I'm using anything like this and you'll definitely want to use them if you find any dead moles.

I've not seen measurable results yet from using the product on what I think are active tunnels, but will update with any new info.

Orb-3 T422-000-1PT Pool and Spa Antifoam Bottle, 1-Pint
Price: $13.24

4.0 out of 5 stars Foam away..., June 26, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Although I don't often have issues with foam, I notice it can be a problem after I've had friends or family over for a night in the hot tub especially if they wear bathing suits that have been washed in detergent. I normally use the Brilliance line of spa products, but chose this to see how well it worked in comparison. I transferred this liquid to a spray bottle and if I see foam, I spray directly on it while the pumps are running and it seems to disperse the bubbling right away and all the foam is completely gone in minutes. I have not noticed any rings around the siding of the spa or a strange odor. I'll keep using it!
