3.0 out of 5 stars Works for me, after a little tweaking, June 18, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Like others here (and friends who also bought one of these), mine didn't work straight out of the box. The small primer hole in the tray had a little vertical lip of plastic a few hundredths of an inch high that kept the primers from dropping down the hole, and I had to remove it. Removal took about 30 seconds of very light scraping with a pocket knife. Now it works like a charm.

This device deserves 5 stars for sheer usefulness, but you shouldn't have to modify purchases to make them actually work as promised, so 3 stars.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't get 512MB version, June 18, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I received the 256MB version, not the advertised 512MB version. Take care who you order from. Mine also locks up within a day of booting up and requires a hard restart. When I pull the SD card and put it into another Pi I have, it runs fine. Perhaps this is a knockoff or something? The box looks different from the ones I received when ordering from sites other than Amazon.

Buyer beware.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, bad kindle version, June 9, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Book is good, read it! Note that the kindle version is kind of a mess though. Looks like someone just OCR-ed a printed copy and didn't bother to edit it. If they had even just spent a few minutes looking at the formatting they would have noticed the problems- wouldn't even have to read the text to see it needs proof reading. There's not even a table of contents.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent pair of goggles, January 21, 2014

Good set of protective goggles. They protect the eyes from pretty much all angles. However, unlike some folks here, they do not fit over my glasses (which aren't overly large).

4.0 out of 5 stars Kindle version has horrible maps, May 11, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The maps are so low-res that the words are unreadable in the Kindle version of the book. I had to hunt down some maps on the Internet and print them out in order to follow the travels of the heroes of the tale. That's why this version only gets 4 stars. Of course LOTR is an amazing tale, but I can't give this version 5 stars because of the maps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality for the money, April 2, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This scope has unusually decent optical quality for something so inexpensive. The case, tripod and scope are obviously not made of top quality materials or construction (serviceable though). But still, the optics are quite good, which is what matters. At 20x everything is clear as a bell. At 60x it's not quite as sharp, but still very usable. I used it to view a bridge under construction several miles away, and could see details quite well. For use on a shooting range, it is more than adequate. It's unclear how durable it will be over the long haul, but out of the box it's a nice unit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for shotguns, March 30, 2013
I have used Frog extensively on shotguns, ARs and pistols. I have had no trouble with it on pistols and ARs. But I strongly recommend not using this stuff on shotguns. If you do, avoid using it in the barrel. This stuff burns, and if you have any Frog residue in the barrel (which you will, or what's the point?), you'll end up with cruddy incinerated sheets of carbon in your barrel. It's a bitch to get it all out, and it can't help make your gun shoot better when it's like that. I suppose it probably also burns in pistol and rifle barrels, but the bullets must ream it out or something. You don't have a tight fitting bullet when you're shooting birdshot from a shotgun, so the burnt Frog stays in the barrel (though slugs don't seem to clean the Frog out either).

I shoot a Benelli M4 among my collection, and when I use Frog it cycles unreliably unless shooting high brass. I switched over to the much better FP-10, and now my M4 cycles everything I put in it without fail, every time. Even light target loads. And it's actually easier to clean the barrel and all other parts after shooting.

Plain and simple, Frog just isn't as good a lubricant as other quality lubricants. And because it burns, it can make a mess in hot parts of your gun. Also, it doesn't make the gun any easier to clean in parts where it doesn't burn. In short, there's little reason to use Frog instead of some other high quality lube. The *only* thing that might recommend Frog over something else is that it will not evaporate. Especially the paste. It stays put. Some lubes can dry up if you store your gun for a while. But there are other lubes that won't dry up either.

FP-10 has been pretty amazing stuff for me. I highly recommend it, or the other clone brand (forget the name).

1.0 out of 5 stars Won't charge phone reliably, March 14, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This battery pack just won't charge the phone reliably. After a seemingly random amount of time, it stops supplying power to the phone. You have to manually make it start sending power again. In the meantime, your phone has started draining unbeknownst to you. I woke up this morning to find my phone at 50% power, and the battery pack at full charge and not supplying power. When I went to bed, it was supplying power - I am certain. I've only had the thing a day, but it's done this a half dozen times now.

Even if it were reliable in this area, the little power button on the bottom is very poor design. It's all too easy to push if you're not careful. If you put the phone in a belt pouch or the like, it could easily get switched on and off all day. The Mophie has a much better design - a recessed physical toggle switch.

Anyway, the failure to charge problem is unacceptable and makes this unit basically useless. I need a power pack that will keep the phone charged. It needs to give the phone power until it doesn't have any more to give. That's the sole purpose of such a device, and it cannot reliably fill that purpose. It's going back today.

Don't waste your time with one of these.

UPDATE:

I made the mistake of giving this model another chance. Out of desperation, because other similar products just don't cut the mustard, I ordered another one of these. I hoped that maybe my last one was just an anomaly. I'm sorry to report that the unit I just received displays the same problem as the last one. It simply stops supplying power to the phone, causing the phone to run down. You are forced to check periodically to ensure the phone isn't burning its battery, and restart charging if the battery pack has disengaged. Further, the unit will not sync using the supplied cable when plugged into a computer. When plugged in, it is not seen by the computer. Even worse, sometimes an error pops up on the screen warning that the phone is an "unsupported device". I have tried multiple cables to ensure that's not the problem.

So despite what the manufacturer says, both in the product description, and in the comments posted directly to various reviews here (including this one), the unit is buggy and does not actually work as advertised. Beware.

2.0 out of 5 stars Weak, March 6, 2013
I put two of these on a hard case and checked it in as luggage on a short flight. Both locks were destroyed by the way the baggage was handled. They just can't stand up to that sort of activity. They may survive on soft luggage, but definitely not hard luggage.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fine, but extremely overpriced, February 27, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These are decent quality, but they're just little plastic things. Really, twenty bucks? These are at least cheaper than the Magpul ones, which are apparently exactly the same as these (they are OEMed by Ergo for Magpul).
