I'm one of the many people who've shared a campfire with Gerry Kirstein, so when I saw his new book, I had to pick it up. Kirstein's deeply personal, introspective narrative is part John Krakauer "Into the Wild," part Dostoyevsky "Notes from the Underground," and part Hunter S Thompson "Fear and Loathing." He has knocked my perception of the Baby Boomer generation of its axis. The reader will find a wide variety of experiences, a larger than life landscape witnessed and interpreted by someone who grew up in the 60's but has never stopped asking life's big questions.
