5.0 out of 5 stars Ghost's great Dark 2nd book of psalms., May 13, 2013
Ghost..now called Ghost b.c. in the u.s. for some legal reasons has returned with a great follow up to 2010's debut album Opus Eponymous!from the opening track Infestissumam which starts as Gregorian chant that goes into a great rock groove. Ghost transports the listener to Dark realms of melodic hard rocking pleasure.the opening track is like walking into a strange place where a Dark Ritual is underway and shortly as it unfolds Per aspera ad inferi grabs hold and takes the listener deeper into strange and beautiful Dark realms.some fans have commented this album does'nt rock quite as much Opus Eponymous did. this album seems to be a little bit more popish but every bit as great as Opus in my opinion.it is worth getting the Deluxe edition of this album for the Darkly Haunting track called La mantra mori which is otherwordly.there are some interesting influences showing here on infestissumam such as Ghuleh Zombie Queen which starts out as a piano ballad type song but then goes into a surf sounding hard rocker.Year Zero starts as an acapella heralding the Dark lord and has a danceable beat going.Jigolo Har Megiddo is a song that just grabs you by the ears and sticks in your head and won't let go.also equally as great are monstrance clock,Depth of Satan's eyes and body and blood and Idolatrine.also notable is the fact Ghost covers an Abba song I,m a Marrionette which they put their own Diabolical spin on.I can't seem to stop playing this album since it came out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ghost,s great Dark debut opus!!!, February 11, 2011
This review is from: Opus Eponymous (Audio CD)
Ghost is a great new melodic black metal band from sweden.opus eponymous is an album that,s easy to get hooked on pretty quickly if you like progressive melodic occult metal!from the sinister opening organ piece ;dues culpa the listener seems to be witnessing a forbidden Dark ceremony.the lyrics are quite..devilish all through out this cd.but hey that,s metal for ya!if you don,t get too uptight about the sinister lyrics there is alot to like here.and other reviewers have noted a blue oyster cult influence to this album i agree and that is another great facet of this record this band seems to have been influenced by b.o.c. and sabbath to name a few bands.i think this may be the best new melodic dark metal cd release of 2011 so far in my opinion.i have got to see this band live.for my taste the stand out tracks and there are many are;the Ritual, con clavi con dio, elizabeth [about elizabeth bathory],stand by him, satan prayer, prime mover and the great instrumental genesis that is reminiscent of iron maiden,s transylvania from the first iron maiden album.another great thing about ghost is that they don,t sound like typical new metal with the cookie monster vocal stylings many bands of the new metal genre tend to do.the vocals are sung melodically and the lyrics can be heard and understood.if you like melodic dark metal you might just like this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars saxon,s classic denim and leather!!!, September 6, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Denim and Leather (Audio CD)
saxon released denim and leather in 1981.denim and leather was saxon,s fourth album.denim and leather may arguably be saxon,s best album ever.every song on this album is great!there are just NO filler songs on it in my opinion.also on the tour for this album saxon recorded their first great live album titled ;the eagle has landed.i was reading the liner notes of this remaster and singer biff byford said that he thinks of the early saxon albums denim and leather was the best!there is also a remix of 20,000 ft which was the b-side of the never surrender single.for me the great tracks are[and there are very many]'never surrender, princess of the night, out of control, denim and leather, midnight rider, and the bands played on,fire in the sky[about nuclear war] and play it loud these songs are great reasons to buy this album.also noteable on this remastered edition is the inclusion of six live cuts which include, machine gun, midnight rider and never surrender to name a few.though most of these songs are also on the eagle has landed they are a good document of what a great live band saxon was and is.this album, wheels of steel, power and the glory, strong arm and crusader would be great first albums to get if you,re a new comer to saxon. if you,re an old timer you know these are classic must haves from saxon!!

5.0 out of 5 stars saxon,s awesome power and the glory!, September 6, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Power And the Glory (Audio CD)
saxon released power and the glory in 1983.power and the glory was saxon,s fifth studio album.power and the glory is chock full of classic saxon rockers!!saxon,s long time drummer pete gill left the band before saxon started to record this album.in my opinion saxon,s first six albums or so are the best work of their carreer.however i will qualify that statement by saying i have,nt really heard much of saxon,s post crusader era albums so i,m sure there are some very good moments on much of their albums post crusader.saxon has been making records since 1979 and they just got better and better with each album by the time power and glory came along they already had done such greats as wheels of steel, strong arm of the law,the excellent denim and leather and their first live album the eagle has landed.that being said song for song there is almost nothing you could call filler material on this great album also notable is the fact that saxon toured with iron maiden on this tour imagine that for a double bill!!for me the best cuts are;power and the glory, warrior[which kicks a@@!!]watching the sky,the eagle has landed[about the first moon landing]nightmare, redline, this town rocks and also on this remastered edition is a live version of denim and leather and the outtakes from the power and glory sessions turn out the lights stand up and rock to name a few.i have been a fan of saxon since the early 80,s since denim and leather if you wanted great well written and played melodic power metal saxon is in the top 5 or 10.this album, denim and leather, wheels of steel, the eagle has landed and strong arm of the law would be great starting points for those that are new to saxon.if you,re a long time fan you already know these albums are classics!!play it loud if you get this especially warrior!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars a fairly good collection of boc,s hits done live!, July 16, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
set list is good testament to what a great live band blue oyster cult was back in the day,and still is today.the price of this set list series is pretty good too.also for the first time ever there is finally a live version of boc,s the vigil which is quite good.however..i really think it is time sony/legacy got on the ball and did some more remastering of boc,s great back catolog starting with their live gem extraterrestrial live and all the rest of their late 70,s and early to late 80,s records!i hope they get to this task soon!it is time. this collection spans from live stuff recorded on 1974,s secret treaties tour to 1981,s fire of unknown origin tour which produced e.t.i.live which was released in 1982.the remastering on this sounds quite good to me.for me the highlites on this are, cities on flame, the vigil, flaming telepaths, black blade, the red and the black, godzilla[which was recorded summer 1977 a few months before the release of spectres in fall of 77],harvester of eyes, the red and the black,r.u.ready 2 rock and don,t fear the reaper.i like this collection and in the absence of further boc remasters at present this is hopefully a little taste of what the upcoming remasters might be like.

4.0 out of 5 stars ORANGE GOBLIN,S AWESOME PSYCHEDELIC 2ND ALBUM TIME TRAVELLING BLUES!!, July 12, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Time Traveling Blues (Audio CD)
orange goblin released time travelling blues in 1998.time travelling blues is orange goblin,s 2nd album.time travelling blues defineatly continues the psychedelic metal grooves that the first album[frequencies from planet ten]was chock full of.i think orange goblin,s first three records have been their best so far.there is alot to like on this album if you like psychedelic metal.to me their sound is like a mixing of metallica, black sabbath and sometimes a bit like pink floyd.i just got this album today and i really like it. for me the best cuts are;blue snow, shine, solarisphere, time travelling blues, lunarville 7,airlock 3,nuclear guru, and the man who invented time.if you like orange goblin you probably already know this album is a classic and if you are a newcomer to orange goblin this album and frequenices from planet ten would be great starting points!!if you get this one turn it up and go on psycedelic metal journey into the dark beyond!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars orange goblin,s awesome [psychedelic space metal debut frequencies!!, July 8, 2010
orange goblin came out with this great debut in 1999.orange goblin rocks!!they have been called space metal and stoner rock which is a good description.this debut is really good.when i first heard it i loved it!orange goblin reminds me of a very psychedelic version of metallica with some definite black sabbath influence.this album is one of their best releases.i just ordered the second album by goblin called time traveling blues that should be good judging by this debut album.for me the great cuts on this album are;land of secret dreams[check out the wierd trippy vocals],the aquatic fanatic, saruman,s wish, the song of the purple mushroom fish[nice hallucinogenic title]star shaped cloud, magic carpet and orange goblin and finally lothorian.if you like bands like sabbath and metallica and a sort of mixture of those two bands styles then orange goblin is defineatly well worth checking out.

4.0 out of 5 stars stone temple pilots fine debut album core!!, June 6, 2010
This review is from: Core (Audio CD)
stone temple pilots were and are a great band!!in 1992 they started their carreer with this great album 'core'.from the first two fisted track'dead and bloated you just know your in for some kickass rock 90,s style.s.t.p. at times had some difficulties sometimes due to scott wielands substance issues.when this album came out s.t.p. was compared to pearl jam and alice in chains.s.t.p.sounds a little like alice in chains.but s.t.p. most definately has their own trademark sound and on this album and the two albums that followed the band continued to get better and expand their sound and songwriting.that being said the songwriting on this album is very good.for me the best cuts on this album are;dead and bloated, sin, wicked garden, sex type thing, plush, where the river goes[which i think is a very underrated song]creep[s.t.p.,s first recorded acoustic tune]and piece of pie. i got this album when it first came out back in 92 and it is still just as good today.if you are an s.t.p. fan you know this album is classic.if you are a new comer to s.t.p. this album and 'purple' and also 'tiny music' would be good starting points.enjoy this one!

4.0 out of 5 stars stone temple pilots 3rd great cd 'tiny music'!, June 3, 2010
stone temple pilots were still on a roll with this album.tiny music is stone temple pilots third album and was released in 1996.tiny music continued s.t.p.,s expanding of musical horizons. the difference between'tiny music' and the first album'core represents a major growth in songwriting and performance not only can s.t.p. deliver kick ass hard rockers but they could write great acoustic songs and some really cool mellow songs like'and so i know' which is kind of bluesy.around the time of this album things seemed to get a little difficult for the band and scott weiland.after the tour for this album s.t.p. would fragment until 1999 when they regrouped for no.4.i wish i would have seen s.t.p. on this tour.this album, core and purple i think are essential s.t.p. albums.for me the best tracks are, tumble in the rough, lady picture show, and so i know, big bang baby, pop,s love suicide and trippin, on a hole in a paper heart.i think this may have been the last great s.t.p. album of the 90,s.no disrespect to no.4 but this one just seems better. so if you get this album enjoy s.t.p.,s progression and play it loud!

4.0 out of 5 stars stone temple pilots great 2nd album[purple]!!, June 2, 2010
This review is from: Purple (Audio CD)
stone temple pilots released this great cd in 1994.purple was s.t.p,s second album.after the powerful and amazing debut album 'core' s.t.p. was going strong.i,ve recently been rediscovering my 90,s music collection,in my opinon the first three stone temple pilots albums were the best albums they did.it seems around the third album 'tiny music'scott wieland started to have some troubles with the law and s.t.p. was kind of in limbo for a while.i have been a fan of stone temple pilots since core in 1992.to my ears s.t.p. sounds a little like alice in chains although s.t.p. definately had their own trade mark sound.on this album they had a good collection of songs and they performed them well here. there is more to this diverse album than just the radio hits;vasoline, big empty and interstate lovesong both of which showed this band was expanding it,s sound horizons from overt heaviness of most of the debut album core.s.t.p proved they could write good acoustic songs as well as great rockers.for me the great ones on this cd are;lounge fly, still remains, pretty penny, unglued, silvergun superman and kitchenware, candy bars.if you are a stone temple pilots fan you already know this album, core and tiny music are classics!!if you are new to s.t.p. this album or core would be good for starters!!this album should be played loud and enjoyed greatly if you want great 90,s alternative rock!!!
