5.0 out of 5 stars Goldratt's Best, July 28, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've read most everything by Goldratt (and others including Dettmer, Leach and Scheinkopf) and listened to many of his talks. Beyond the Goal is the best by far. Not only does he bring together all his thoughts from all his previous works but he takes them to a deeper level. If you consider yourself a systems thinker this is a must for your listening library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent overview of all the aspects of Agile within a business, July 16, 2013
Bob Gower along with the folks at Rally Software have done an excellent job in compiling a comprehensive list of articles that cover the breadth of Agile as it applies to business. Gower's compilation shows that Agile is more than just a software development methodology in that Agile touches all aspects of business including finance and contracts, leadership, product planning, portfolio management, IT Operations and more.

Each article is well written and provides enough detail to assure the reader that Agile provides a viable solution in scaling Agile up and throughout a business. More details on each subject can easily be found in other books. The value that Gower's Agile Business brings is that it is actually a roadmap for Agile adoption. The book provides a succinct description of each of these areas, enough to give the reader knowledge and confidence in adopting Agile throughout their business.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Bridge Between Lean and Agile In IT, February 13, 2011
This well written and exceptionally researched book is a great resource for anyone looking to see how Lean and Agile bring discipline to an IT organization.

For those in the Agile community it will show how to use Lean's systems thinking to reduce waste and further optimize your processes. If you are coming from the Lean community the book will show you how the disciplines of Agile will give you greater visibility and increased throughput to your organization. If you are neither from the Lean or Agile communities but you are frustrated by current processes in your IT organization that inhibit throughput, this book will give you the tools to identify root causes and direction in breaking these constraints.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for Christian leaders in the corporate world, April 6, 2008
The Blackablys have done a thorough job in researching and summarizing today's secular leadership teaching then contrasting it with spiritual leadership. They point out that many of the principles of secular leadership are of value but the underlying principle of spiritual leadership that differs from secular leadership is that we are to seek God's agenda and not our own. To make their point, early in the book they discuss Jesus as the model for spiritual leadership. Jesus, the very Son of God, did not seek His own agenda, but rather spent hours in prayer to align himself with God's agenda.

The Blackabys also do a great job teaching that spritual leadership is not just for leaders in the church. Spiritual leadership is also required of Christians that are in secular leadership roles. They give us many examples of US Presidents as well as military and corporate leaders that have aligned themselves to God's agenda and have been effective.

We are living in a world that is growing in complexity and the demands on leadership are ever increasing. The Blackabys have shown what an advantage spiritual leaders have in being able to align ourselves to the agenda of a wise and loving God rather than attempting to create our own agenda.
