4.0 out of 5 stars Works well so far..., May 22, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had to replace the CPU fan on my AMD e-350 Zacate. The old fan had a couple of years on it of continuous use and was getting noisy. This fan fits perfectly. I just finished installing it and it is running well and fairly quiet. My only real complaint, being that I'm in the US, I wasn't thrilled that it had to be shipped from China - and that this fact was not made clear in the Amazon listing. The good news is that shipping was supposed take 15-33 days, it actually took only 9 days. Another minor thing - since I'm using this as CPU cooler I would have liked the cable to be shorter, but a little twist tie made things neat inside the case. A longer cable is probably a plus for others. I've only had it running for a couple of hours so I can't speak to reliability.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good cable and combo-lock, sub par design of slot mechanism, January 31, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Cable and combination lock are fine. But frankly, I am surprised by the number of 5 star reviews this has received. There is clearly a flaw in the design of this device. The problem I experienced stems from the design of the part that inserts into the Kensington slot. Rather than use the simple flat T-shaped blade design that turns like the Kensington, the piece that goes into the slot is segmented (it's a bit hard to describe in words.) After inserting into the slot this design splays apart, kind of like opening scissors. There is less overlap of the piece that secures the slot than the normal Kensington. And I found it to be very tricky to get the lock to actually engage properly, catch and hold inside the slot. If I tugged on the lock it would often pop out of the slot, which completely defeats the security. I never had this problem with an actual Kensington cable.

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't last more 60 days w/ very infrequent/light use, September 17, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ordered two of these in July 2012, one for my camera the other for my son's. They arrived mid month. We took them on a trip to Yosemite and barely used them. I got mine back out in early September to use at a parade my kids would be marching in. I went to attach to my camera the rubber separated from the ring. I showed my son, he tried his with the same issue. Very poor quality/reliability.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great, doesn't look new, January 29, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Our Wii was giving the dreaded "Cannot read disc" error with most of our games. I tried cleaning the discs made no difference. I also tried replacing the laser and that did not fix the problem. I didn't have the patience to troubleshoot it further and didn't want to have to send it back to Nintendo for repairs. I could have purchased a brand new Wii for only slightly more than what it would cost to have Nintendo do the repairs. But the new Wiis are not compatible with the old game cube discs. I did a little web based research and concluded that replacing the drive was likely to fix the problem. I saw that there were three different replacement drives available to order on Amazon.com. This one listed compatibility with the most drivechips (frankly I'm not sure this is important), and it was the lowest cost. There were no reviews, but I took a shot and ordered this drive.

The drive came with no documentation. But with the help of a few Youtube videos it took me about 15 minutes to remove the old drive and replace it with this one. (Note that I had to purchase a tri-wing screw driver to get the Wii case open, and this item is not found on the shelf generally at a local retailer - Microcenter apparently stocks the item.)

The drive works great and the Wii seems to function like new.

Two things bother me a little (would have otherwise given it 5 stars):
1) The drive did not appear to be new. The product description on Amazon.com didn't say anything about the condition, it didn't say new or used. I just assumed that it would be new.
2) The description implies that it isn't a factory drive chip, so I'm a little concerned about doing a system update and having it detect an "unauthorized modification". Therefore I am opting not to do the system updates. This may be an invalid concern. Without any documentation I am left to speculate.

3.0 out of 5 stars Be careful which Amazon partner you order from, January 12, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
WARNING --- IF YOU NEED THE CABLE TO CHARGE THE PHONE THEN DO NOT ORDER FROM PARTNER Seller1ON1.
You will see several 1 star reviews posted on Amazon.com for this cable saying that this cable does not charge. I would like to add my experience to this.
I have four Samsung Intensity phones (SCHu450) from Verizon. One for each member of my family.
I ordered two of these cables from Amazon partner "ACC Stop" in Septemmber. Both of the cables I received from this partner >>did<< indeed work for both data and charging.
Two months later I ordered three of these cables from Seller1ON1 and all three of the cables I received from Seller1ON1 would not charge the phone. I tried with each of our four Intensity phones, with multiple chargers and USB ports and I even tried multiple batteries. The cables from Seller1ON1 would only work for data transfer.

UPDATE 4/24/12: ACC Stop was no longer listed as an option. I ordered two additional cables, one from partner "Importer520" another from partner "AccesoryOne". Both of these cables are charging the phones. Importer520 had the lower price and got the item shipped out more quickly.

Five stars for the cables from ACC Stop, Importer520 and AccesoryOne
Two stars for the cables from Seller1ON1.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eforcity version works great with Garmin nuvi 295W, December 1, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am very pleased with this adapter. I am using it to connect the 2.5mm stereo output of my Garmin nüvi 295W 3.5-Inch Widescreen Wi-Fi Portable GPS Navigator w/ mp3 player to the 3.5mm input of my factory car stereo. I ordered the adapter from partner Eforcity and the one they shipped looks just like the photo listed by Amazon.com (note that other reviewers of this item have ordered from other Amazon partners and received adapters that look quite different.) The Eforcity version has the right-angle male plug with three conductors (1 tip, 1 ring and 1 sleeve, or two insulating rings). The cable length (not including 2.5mm-M & 3.5mm-F) is only about 1.5". This length is great for my application. The Garmin 295W has a small screen and is about the size of a smart phone. It fits nicely inside the compartment in the middle of my dashboard that houses the 3.5mm aux input for my car stereo. With this adapter and a 6" 3.5mm-M to 3.5mm-M I'm able to keep the total cable length short and the right-angle plug doesn't stick up making for a nice fit with the Garmin nuvi.

Motorola Stereo Hands Free Audio Adapter 2.5 Mm Male To 3.5 Mm Female Stereo Jack
Motorola Stereo Hands Free Audio Adapter 2.5 Mm Male To 3.5 Mm Female Stereo Jack

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for handsfree - only stereo music playback, November 17, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have two sets of stereo earbuds with mic, one by JBL the other by Skull Candy. The 3.5mm plug on the JBL is IPOD style (narrow barrel). The Skull Candy barrel is wider, but is notched at the plug end to allow for use with an Iphone. I tried using both headsets with this adapter and my Samsung Intensity. The audio playback is fine, but the mic would not work for either headset. This adapter did not allow for handsfree operation as the description suggests.

123 Copy DVD Gold 09
123 Copy DVD Gold 09
5 used & new from $19.50

2.0 out of 5 stars Worked at first, support and documentation is very lacking, September 6, 2011
This review is from: 123 Copy DVD Gold 09 (CD-ROM)
I purchased 123copydvd gold in 2009 from a big box store. Installation was not too difficult. After installing 123copydvd gold I had to download an add in from a third party to allow the decryption. I was directed to a site boooyah.com for this add in. I was a little suspicious of this. But it worked and I was able to copy my protected discs.

Fast forward just two years to 2011. I recently rebuilt my PC - new MOBO, case, PS and memory. I used the hard drive from my old PC, but I was forced to reinstall Windows XP to get all the drivers updated correctly and this required reinstalling 123copy dvd gold 2009. It installed with no errors. It would launch properly like before, however it will no longer copy encrypted discs. I suspect the problem is with the add in. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the 123copydvd package to no avail. There is no uninstall for the add in. I contacted bling support for help and the reply came back that this version is no longer supported. They sent me a link where I could purchase the latest verson at a discount. I am not satisfied with this repsonse.

I could probably do a complete reformat of my hard drive, start from scratch, reinstall XP & 123copydvd to fix the problem. But that is more effort than I care to put forth at this time.

If all you want is to get your movies onto your ipod, then save your money. Install Linux, Handbrake and VLC. With this combination you can accomplish pretty much the same thing at no expense and with better support.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent product, photos are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, May 12, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am a loyal customer of Amazon.com, so I am sorry to have to say that they have some work to do when it comes to the accuracy of the photos and descriptions for electronic and computer related merchandise.

The "Best Connectivity SD-U2DEL-525 USB 2.0 5.25-Inch External Enclosure" being sold here doesn't look at all like the photos provided by Amazon.com. The photos show a metallic case, with two different external ports and two cables (presumably USB & firewire) What I received is very different. I am posting photos of what I received.

All the listed product features are correct. The enclosure is USB 2.0 only. I believe that the photos by Amazon.com are for the firewire/IEEE1394-version of this product. The actual housing I received is entirely made of plastic (not aluminum as is indicated on the carton in one of the photos.) And it's actually two-tone grey, not black, red, blue, etc.) It only comes with one USB cable and there is only one USB port on the rear. The enclosure has square corners on all sides. And it comes with a plastic stand/holder not shown in the photo. It doesn't have "Versa-drive" printed on the side of the enclosure, there is nothing printed on the enclosure at all.

Not long ago Newegg was selling an enclosure with the name "Syba SD-U2DEL-525" at a very similar price, and the description and photos on Newegg better described what I received from Amazon.com.

Having said all that, given that the enclosure provides the functionality I need, and considering the price I paid I am satisfied.

The documentation included in the package is very limited. The assembly instructions are a set of illustrations printed on the outside of the box. A mini CD was included with the drivers. But I had no trouble assembling a 5.25 inch LG IDE DVD R/RW drive into the enclosure. The case snaps together and the only tool that was required was a small flat blade screwdriver to pry the connector for the front LED panel loose. Pretty much any small flat blade would work just as well. And Windows XP recognized the drive and installed the driver automatically - I did not have to use the disc. I haven't tried it with Win7 or Vista yet - I'll update the review when I do.

UPDATE (01/22/2013): At this date, the product listing now shows it is unavailable on Amazon.com. I've seen products go from unavailable back to available before, so I will go ahead and add my experience with Windows 7 - it works fine, no need for the driver disk. I will also add that because my installation was with a DVD I disabled the fan on the enclosure. The fan is VERY noisy. If you are considering the purchase for a hard drive, with an HTPC, you might want to consider something else.

3.0 out of 5 stars HDMI/NVIDIA-driver problems, August 4, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you're not planning to use Windows Media Center dvr or live-TV functions or you're not planning to use hdmi audio then you should consult another review for opinions. If this is your plan then read on.

My main goals for this purchase were to be able to stream Hulu, Amazon-on-demand and use the WMC DVR function with the TV in my family room. I also wanted to provide another common area computer for my kids to be able to browse the web and do school work.

The price tag, low power usage, expected ION performance, wireless kb/mouse, 250GB HD, monitor mount and eSATA were big draws. But a big reason I chose to buy this particular nettop was the fact that it came with Win7 installed and not barebones. I didn't want to have to spend a lot of time fixing problems and installing/uninstalling 3rd party software.

Like other reviewers I've had to uninstall a lot of the junk software from the computer. I briefly tried the wireless networking, but quickly went to a wired network connection.

I had a significant problem with the hdmi. If I selected hdmi audio for the default sound device then playback of live TV or recorded TV in WMC or WMP didn't work. The recorded playback problem would happen with wtv files recorded on this nettop as well as dvr-ms files I had recorded in WMC on a Vista PC. When playback began a few frames would play and then the screen would go dark. After the screen went dark WMP reported "Windows Media player encountered a problem while playing this file". WMC reported - "Video Error Files needed to display video are not installed or are not working correctly. Restart Windows Media Center or restart the computer."

I tried restarting WMC, rebooting - no improvement. If I selected speakers or realtek audio for default sound, the problems went away.

I did some internet searches and found that there are a lot of general problems w/ hdmi audio. I tried many of the solutions people offered (disconnecting/reconnecting hdmi, changing sound in WMC to 2ch/5.1/7.1ch, disabling transition sounds in WMC, etc), but none worked. I checked the hdmi audio driver Acer had posted and it was up to date. I ran out of patience and went to Acer & then NVIDIA support - neither was very helpful.

I opened a ticket with Acer support. Acer's first response was to try updating the VGA driver. I went to Acer's website and downloaded the "VGA driver" posted for the Aspire R3610. It didn't make sense to me at the time that this might fix the problem. But note that this is the display driver for ION, not VGA specific, so it makes some sense since it is related to the hdmi. The driver version Acer had posted for the R3610 was the wrong OS version - it is for 32bit, not 64bit. I tried downloading the 64bit version of the same driver from NVIDIA's website, but when I went to install it failed with the error "could not locate drivers compatible with your hardware". I tried updating the display adapter driver using windows device manager. I was successful updating the driver this way and the problems went away temporarily. The version was 8.17.12.5896. This worked just until the first time the computer went into sleep state. Then no matter what I did I couldn't get it to work again. It was basically back in the same state as before the display driver update. I opened several more tickets with Acer - each time they would provide a "solution" and each time they would immediately close the support ticket without confirming their "solution" worked and each time it didn't work. Eventually Acer wanted me to use their "pay-for-support" service. That's when I gave up on Acer support.

I also went back and forth with NVIDIA support. They were a little better than Acer support - at least they wouldn't continually close the ticket before the problem was solved. NVIDIA asked some more intelligent questions and eventually suggested I install AC3FILTER to debug the problem and then promptly closed the ticket. I gave up on NVIDIA at that point.

I also tried a few windows-based alternatives to the Microsoft players. Neither VLC or PowerDVD specifically list support for the Windows DVR files, but I was able get them both to playback the recordings. However playback wasn't smooth - (yes, even with hardware acceleration enabled.)

Eventually I updated every one of the NVIDIA drivers using the latest from the NVIDIA website, and still the problem persisted.

After many hours trying different solutions and searching the web for an answer - I found one that worked for me. A user posted on greenbutton that he was able to fix the problem by going back to version 8.17.11.9621 of the NVIDIA display driver (to find these drivers Google "NVIDIA ION drivers 196.21"). I tried installing this and so far it is working. Now the revo performs pretty much as I had hoped. This has taken a lot more time investment than I bargained for. I am taking off 2 stars due to the software issues and poor support from Acer and NVIDIA (I have no complaints about the hardware, but note that others have reported issues with the wireless). I hope this review helps others to avoid repeating my experience.
