5.0 out of 5 stars Def Leppards best album, June 9, 2006
This review is from: High 'n' Dry (Audio CD)
this album totally rocks from start to finish. this is when def leppard were at their best and most original. even though i heard some people say it sounds like ac\dc it is true in some ways, but after listening to this album they have their own unique sound and don't sound like anybody else. great band back then, you can also tell when bands are hungry and young and want to get sucessful at their job. just like a lot of other rock this is three chord rock and that is what ac/dc is most famous for doing. this starts out with let it go. great song, i love the intro to hit and run, great way to start the next song, just cool. high n dry is a cool tune and pete willis puts a nice solo on this one. bringin on the heartache is kinda sappy although it is well written. switch 625 just rocks, crank it up loud and enjoy, good riff. you got me runnin is also a good tune. lady strange is one of the best they ever wrote in my mind. great song. on through the night rocks too. i also thought this is probably leftover from the first album, who knows. mirror mirror is cool. no no no is a great song. overall this album was the last this band was ever that good. i think they should have kept pete willis or they should have got somebody better than phil collen at least. just doesn't seem to do nothing for them like pete and steve clark did. after this album they went down and the better songs on piromania pete willis wrote. after that they were finished. but this album still sounds fresh when you put it on and crank it up. hope you enjoyed my review.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best metal albums of all time, June 8, 2006
This review is from: Diary of a Madman (Audio CD)
from start to finish this album brings you on a journey which will send shivers up your spine when you hear how fresh ozzy sounds and the production of the album captures what ozzy set out to do, create a masterpiece which has songs that are all excellent from the first to the last. even though i am a big fan of tommy aldridge and rudy sarzo i don't think they had what it would take to write songs like this album. tommy is my favorate drummer and when i heard bark at the moon i was dissapointed. it seems like the song structures didn't have the same quality that was on diary. i guess it was mainly randy too. bob daisley and lee kerslake together with randy wrote all their music with bob writing lyrics for the first two albums. lee kerslake is a killer drummer that has a lot of experience in the music business, and bob daisley has been around with rainbow, uriah heep and other bands as well. when they wrote the songs for diary they put their mark on every song, the slow part in diary, the marching drum part, that is lee kerslake, kller part, the intro to over the mountain with the fast triplets is one of the best drum intros ever. with randy having the schooling from teaching guitar at his moms store. these extremely talented and experienced song writers got together to make this album their little baby, may i say. ozzy still sounded good and i had heard that they wanted to do songs in different keys. when i listen to this album it makes me think what a combination of musicians do when they are put to the test. i am sure even if they did another album with sarzo and aldridge it would not have been as good, great players for the road though. my favs from this album are over the mountain, little dolls, s.a.t.o , and diary of a madman, but they are all great, so get ready to hear the best band that ozzy had and turn it up loud, oh ya, don't buy the new version with the added bass and drums, it just totally sucks. bob and lee definately got burned from sharon, what a dissapointment for ozzy. hope you like my review.

5.0 out of 5 stars van halen rocks again, June 4, 2006
This review is from: Women & Children First (Audio CD)
this is another classic vh album which has great guitar playing and dave doing his mumbling,"have you seen juniors grades" he just makes this album fun to listen too. i heard that dave never had full lyrics for the song so he just decided to add some low talking more or less, anyway its just awesome to hear these guys on this album. the guitar on fools blew everyone away in 1980. craddle will rock is a killer tune, then they follow that up by everybody wants some, a great party tune, fools also kicks ass, romeo delight is one of my favorite vh tunes of all time, loss of control is a little different but is good as well, take your whiskey home is another one of my favorite vh tunes, could this be magic is cool and catchy, in a symle ryhme is good too. another one of the best van halen albums of all time. hope you enjoyed my review.

5.0 out of 5 stars better than van halen 1, May 29, 2006
This review is from: Van Halen II (Audio CD)
i don't know why i say its better because it is just another classic vh album. everyone else seems to compare it to no.1 so i thought i would give a little of my opinion there. i actually think there is only about 4 good songs on their first. come on i just think that running with devil is just to slow and boring with a couple of good guitar licks in it, you really got me is a cover tune of a middle of the line song, ain't talkin bout love is ok,i'm the one kicks ass, atomic punk kicks ass,ice cream man kicks ass and on fire, also eruption is interesting but not all good tunes. now vh11 has a great remake of a killer tune, your no good, dance the night away is killer with some guitar tricks from a cool evh, somebody get me a doctor is killer to,bottoms up is classic vh, outa love again has some amazing drumming from alex and is a great tune, light up the sky is probably my favorate tune by them, just awesome vh, spanish fly makes you wonder if anybody could actually play that on guitar, seems out of this world, thaks eddie, women in love and beautiful girls are great songs that makes me think of drinking beer outside by the pool with a bunch of chicks who are drunk and waiting for the wet t-shirt contest.that is why i think van halen 2 is better than van halen 1. the first album just shocked everybody because they haven't heard this band before and eddie's guitar sound is more him on the second album, not so trebly and scratchy, his sound is much warmer and with still a good dose of distortion. keep your fingers crossed to see if the ultimate band will ever get together so we can start the party and go see them on tour. see ya

1.0 out of 5 stars van halen sells out, May 24, 2006
This review is from: Van Halen: 5150 (Audio CD)
i am a van halen freak and loved their previous albums and was looking forward to hearing some more classic van halen guitar riffs and awesome drumming too. when i first heard why can't this be love i just about puked. could not distinguish guitar from synth, blah. there hits were boring piano music that lacked the excitement that they had. i don't think they were great because of dlr, what the hell happened here. new band and boring balads that makes you think of good times with your grandmother.i bought this album and i am saving it one day to burn. in the background i will have the original vh albums appear after the album is burnt away. i haven't bought any of the other vh albums with sammy and i only heard the singles off them off radio, what a terrible mess of hits from a band gone from exciting to boring. i am not saying i don't like sammy, this guys solo albums smoke anything he did with van halen.dlr eat em and smile was exciting to hear after 5150.still not classic vh.hearin dave sing "got me a date with a super model" on best of was such a tease. dave is not a technically good singer like sammy but he has charisma that makes it fun to listen to,he has got a great sounding voice. sammy is very generic singer who has a middle of the line sounding voice. if you listen gary cherone is very much like sammy, awesome in extreme though. some guys sing better but lack a good sounding voice. ozzy is no great singer, but his voice sounds cool. dio is both. just want to express my opinion about vocalists, hope you understand just cause you can sing good doesn't mean you have a voice that is enjoyable to listen too. when i think of classic vh songs i think of, full bug, everybody wants some, doa, light up the sky, cradle will rock, somebody get me a doctor, mean streets, secrets, hang em high, beautiful girls,i'm the one, hot for teacher,i'll wait, top jimmy, house of pain, so many songs which make you want to have a couple of beers and pick up some chicks and bring them home to party and play with.good times. it seems that when you get big it means big business and that is what is stopping a great rock n roll band from becoming the biggest reunion of the century, very depressed about it but hope that ed and dave will come around to give their fans and the industry what it is missing.hope you find my review worth reading and keep your fingers crossed, like me.
