4.0 out of 5 stars Micheal Manning is an Evil Genius!!!, May 1, 2013

This was a great book. To me the best books make you laugh, cry, swear, and make you genuinely worry about the characters. And this books manages that in spades. The ending was brutal and unexpected, but awesome because I didn't expect it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great expansion of the magic system, November 10, 2011

OK I am a huge Sanderson fan. I have read all his adult fiction, and eagerly await the finish of WOT so we can move on to his own work. That being said Alloy of Law was great. The whole idea of being Twinborn adds a new layer to the magic system. It allows for a more specialized use of the magic. The two new time metals introduced in this novel are cool, speeding up time can come in handy for dodging bullets. The new characters are great, fully developed, and have human reactions. The story itself was plotted great, it was kind of slow in the beginning but it picked up fairly quickly. The history of this "civilized" society is based all on the previous trilogy which was really cool.

Now my only two gripes are length of the novel, and according to Sanderson there will be NO direct sequel. I am assuming that this will be a loose prequel to the next trilogy. But the ending could have wrapped up better for being a stand-alone novel. It raised more questions than it answered.

So now we wait, it will be a few years before we get another Mistborn book, first he finishes the Wheel of Time, then book 2 of the Stormlight Archive, after that who knows.....
