1.0 out of 5 stars Boring, January 28, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Slow, boring read. Almost couldn't finish it. Very jumpy pace without much substance. Definitely would not recommend. Hopefully her next book will be better.

3.0 out of 5 stars A mortal strain, August 1, 2002
Being a Buffy and Angel fan (More Angel than Buffy, however) I decided to purchase this book after reading all the favorable reviews. However, whereas I usually breeze through most novels, I found myself putting this one down after reading several pages and it took me quite a time to get through the whole thing.
Although there is a lot of action, it is repeated action and you know what is going to happen just by reading the opening sentences of some chapters. The book also dives too much into the Vampire Veronique's past. Much of the book is spent on background details that were not all necessary.
The relationship between Angel and Buffy is also ackward in this book. At one point Buffy can;t resist him and then the next page she is shunning him. It just did not seem to flow.
There were some highlights of the book though. The introduction of a previous Slayer, Angela, who now helps the lost souls on the ghost roads. You would hear of her again in the Buffy novel "Child of the Hunt".
If you are a true Buffy fan, than you should read it. But don't expect to push through it in a sitting or two.

5.0 out of 5 stars In a house of its own, August 1, 2002
If you are an Angel fan, then this book is definately for you. Cordelia wins a contest to spend a week in a mansion for the show "Fear Factor". After a painful vision her first night she begins to belive that this house is more than just a stage setting. With no communication allowed to the outside, how is she possibly going to inform Angel and the gang about her vision? With some quick thinking (not going to spoil everything for you)she gets her message across and the boys come running.
The action was well written and although this is supposed to take place in the 2nd season on Angel, there are already undertones to how ANgel and Cordelia really feel about each other.
I have read every book in the Angel series and this one was by far my favorite. A sure treat for any Angel fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars On par with the show, February 11, 2002
Finially, the writers of the Angel book series have choosen to update their books to events relating to the TV series. Wesley and Gunn have replaced Doyle and although Fred has not appeared in the novels yet, the story lines from last season and this season have.
In Haunted, Angel is dealing with his emotions surrounding Cordelia as he is doing in the show. Haunted is a well written book with surprises around every turn. Cordelia has won a spot as a contestant on a reality series in a "haunted house". ALthough she at first believes all the events to be made up, she starts to consider other ideas when she begins hearing and seeing things. The contestants are at the mercy of the ghosts as all outside communication has been cut off. Cordelia has the visions now as she does in the TV series and ANgel will do anything to ease her pain. It's one of these visions that draw her to warn Angel over live television about a girl in trouble. Angel and the gang must figure out COrdelia's message and save the girl as well as save COrdelia from the haunted house.
ANyone who enjoys the TV show will much enjoy this novel.
