1.0 out of 5 stars we think this is the worst Beyblade launcher, January 18, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We purchased this as a cheaper substitute for Takara Tomy's $45 string launcher. We learned quickly that the old adage is true that you get what you pay for. This launcher has serious design problems:
1. The metal eyelet that guides the string had popped out of the launcher after only a couple pulls.
Solution: Design a more durable way to seat the eyelet.
2. The plastic around the eyelet is very fragile. It cracked after only a few pulls. The crack allows the eyelet to pop out on every pull now. It also grabs the string and keeps it from rewinding into the launcher.
Solution: Make the plastic more durable.
3. The spring that rewinds the string into the launcher is very weak. It can't resist the force of pulling the string. If you pull too hard then the spring gets sprung and won't rewind the string. This requires a complete disassembly of the launcher in order to reset the spring by twisting its spool.
Solution: Make the spring stronger.
4. The string isn't long enough to create enough force to spin the Beys faster than a regular launcher. It might be possible to modify the launcher by lengthening the string but the spring spool isn't big enough for a longer string.
Solution: Make the spring spool bigger and lengthen the string.

We contacted the seller (#1 Deals & Steals) and they immediately sent us a new launcher. So far the eyelet has stayed in place and the plastic hasn't cracked however the spring has sprung once and we had to fix it.

The Amazon listing for this launcher is "Beyblad" and the description is "Blayblade". We're wondering if these misspellings were on purpose in order to dodge copyright.

Overall, we think this is the worst Beyblade launcher. Please either fix the design problems or take it off the market.

1.0 out of 5 stars grossly over-priced, April 5, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Bought this online out of desperation for a Christmas gift last year. With S&H it came to $100. Serious rip-off. This truck has absolutely no power to drive over anything except flat, smooth surfaces. It has trouble on light carpeting. Kingdom Of Toys should be ashamed of their ridiculous prices.

Shortly after Christmas we found this truck stocked at a local store. They had it on sale for about $24. It made me sick.

5.0 out of 5 stars defective, April 5, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ordered the right-hand and left-hand remote switches. They were packed fine and received in good shape however the left-hand switch was defective. It would switch but not completely nor would it hold its position. This resulted in derailments. I contacted Walthers and they rushed a new one to me. I checked it out and it was fine. I sent the defective switch back to Randy at Walthers' parts and service per his request. He noted that he'd received a few other complaints about the left-hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a MODEL not a toy!, June 11, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Even before the train arrived I taught our boys (ages 4, 6, & 8) that it's a MODEL and not a toy! Toys get played with and thrown into toy boxes. Models get set up on table tops and run with care.

We received our shipment within a couple days however the packing was horrible. The train was placed in the bottom of the shipper with some paper packing thrown on top of it. This was fine however the train had no packing to cushion it on the bottom! Despite this everything was intact except the caboose which had a set of wheels that apparently popped off. They were easily popped back on.

Setting up the train was simple. The track went together very easily. We broke in the loco as recommended and then hooked up the cars. The transformer isn't very sensitive so we ran the train too fast at first which resulted in some derailing however we quickly got the hang of it and had the train running for several hours without a single derailment! The tricky part was finding the right speed to get the train up the bridge without it straining but not too fast that it would derail coming down the bridge and around the turn. Once the right speed is found the train RUNS like a champ!

The fun of a model train is RUNNING them. You have to use judgment and exercise certain cautions. You can't expect to open up the loco full bore and NOT have it derail!

Two of our boys are autistic and they thoroughly enjoy the train. We all do! This was our first train and we've been bitten by the bug! We're going to build a nice layout and are sure to have MANY hours of fun RUNNING our MODEL train! Maybe Lionel is the favorite and classic brand but this train is OUR favorite and bound to be something we'll always remember and cherish. Thanks for the great train and incredible value!
