1.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Stupidest & Most Pointless Movies EVER..., April 21, 2002
This review is from: Mulholland Dr. (DVD)
I wish there was an option for 0 STARS, because that is what I felt after watching this movie. The acting is great, but the story is sorry. I want to understand a movie when I see it, not be so confused after viewing it that I can't sleep. Stupid. I don't see why this is called one of the best movies of 2001. In my opinion, it's one of the worst of ALL TIME. The story was thrown in an even more confusing way when the leading ladies made lesbian love. One of the most degrating things I have ever seen. It was also thrown in a confusing way when the two leading actresses here were [pulled] into a box and they were in the same time period as two different people, but they were the same women. STUPIDNESS! I MADE myself keep watching this film because it was given so many good reviews. After viewing this I have to wonder, was David Lynch on drugs when making this??? It is very questionable. And I think anyone to make a stupid, pointless movie like this HAS to be on some kind of drugs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Picture AND Actor...Crowe Was ROBBED!!!, April 9, 2002
This IS the best movie of the year. Crowe gave the best performance by a male I have EVER seen, yes, that includes Tom Hanks and his awesome role in "Forrest Gump". Crowe was SOOOOO SOOOOO SOOOOO robbed in not getting the Oscar. Washington was the overrated one this year. All this he did this year was scream and yell and say 'shoot the gun, and SNORT this!!'. CROWE DESERVED IT SO MUCH! But I digress. This movie was amazing. It's a MUST-SEE!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great acting..., April 9, 2002
This review is from: Monster's Ball (DVD)
and for the most part a GREAT story. I have one MAJOR flaw...the porn scene between Thornton and Berry. We didn't need to see that. But overall, it was a great movie. Halle Berry did an outstanding job and Thornton did great as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars It IS Revolutionary...She Does It Again!!!, March 11, 2002
This review is from: Worship God (Audio CD)
I have wanted to post my review of RSJ's "Worship GOD" for quite some time on here, and after reading the 3-star review given to this album, I am REALLY eager to post my review. The saying of this album not being revolutionary is far from the truth.
Rebecca St. James is back...and better than ever. With her sixth studio release, Worship God, she decided to in fact do a worship album. It is no surprise. I knew eventually RSJ would release another worship album, because that is how she got her start 10 years ago with her indie release, Refresh My Heart. Don't believe the misconception you hear a lot about this album being 'another worship album'. It's not. Yeah, not all of it is original, but on most of those non-original songs, RSJ breathes new life to those usually slower tunes such as "Let My Words Be Few", the album's first single "Breathe", "Above All", and the classic hymn "It Is Well With My Soul" (which on the track listing is actually "It Is Well"). She also changes the sound to "God Of Wonders" with some awesome guitar work, and "Better Is One Day" with a bit of an edgier side to it. Perhaps the highlights on the album are in fact the original tunes. The amazing "Song Of Love", which is my personal favorite from the album, is screaming 'soon-to-be worship classic'. It is a medium tempo song that shows nature's and our love for God. The chorus sums it up: The heavens declare you are God / And the mountains rejoice / The ocean's cry "Alleluia" / As we worship You, Lord / For this is our song of Love. "Lamb Of God" is another original song that gives a pop/rock feel like maybe no other song here. The synthesizers on this song rock, as do the amazing lyrics. The next original is "Quiet You With My Love", a song taken from Zephaniah 3:17. It is a song from God's perspective to us telling us to rest and He will quiet us and take care of us. This is probably the rockiest edged song on the album, bringing out the much rockier side of RSJ. The final original is "You", a pressing love song to God that showcases Rebecca's talent to soar on any song; slow, medium, or fast. It is the slowest song on the album and it is by far one of the best RSJ has ever done. The lyrics are simple, but that's what the song is. A simple love song to our Creator. Their is also a song that is not new and not really that well-known of a worship song on this record. It is "More Than The Watchmen", a song comparing us to the watchmen of Bible times waiting for morning, and our souls waiting for God. This is also a new sound for RSJ on this song, and she is successful with it. There is also a hidden track that a lot of people will remember from RSJ's Pray album, "Omega". This version, however, is different. It is a rock remix that brings the house down. A great way to end the album. Rebecca decided to continue on with producer Matt Bronleewe on this project, and it's a great thing she did. Rebecca St. James soars on Worship God. This is NOT just another worship album. It is one that gives new life to some well-known classics and gives some soon-to-be classic fresh, new tunes. Above anyhing else, it brings you into deep worship, which is what really matters. Not only does this album bring amazing presence of God and want to worship, but it showcases that stellar music as well. Another thing that is great about it, Rebecca ties in the pop/adult contemporary sound along with the rock sound. So there is something for everyone here. This is a very successful worship project that will forever be a classic.
