5.0 out of 5 stars Benchmarked & Tested: A new solid HDD aimed at a growing home surveillance market, October 13, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Out of the box, it ships as an OEM drive. So you just get the HD in a plastic casing and static bag. No cables or documentation. Which makes perfect sense as most DVR's are already going to provide power and SATA cables. All you'll need to do is screw it in with the provided screws and you're good to go. It also arrived unformatted, which is nice.

The first thing to note is that not all hard drives are the same. They may have the same basic size and specs, but there's a lot more going on with the controller and internal components. Which is why larger servers and high-end workstations will frequently use much beefier hard drives that are meant to be more reliable and last longer.

This new hard drive from Seagate appears to use a few terms commonly referenced on those drives, although it's clearly leaning closer to the consumer space than Enterprise. This drive is meant to be used in Surveillance DVR systems where it will run 24/7 and need to be accessed immediately for on-demand needs.

Before installation, I did plug it into my custom workstation via the 6GB SATA port for some CrystalDIskMark benchmarks. It managed right about 160MB/s Sequential Read/Write and for the Random 4K tests, Read/Write were 0.58 / 1.44 MB/s. Sequential is what's mostly being used and is plenty fast for what it will be used for.

I've installed it with my Q-See 8-Channel QC308 DVR unit. I chose this unit in particular unit since it ships without a drive and is meant for you to provide your own. As this is a standard 3.5" SATA drive, it installed and worked perfectly. It's been running for about a week, testing with scheduled and motion activated recording. So far, it's worked as well as you can expect.

The long-term reliability claims are just one of those things you won't know for quite awhile. But I'll certainly update should anything change in the future. Even though this technically worked just as well as the old off-the-shelf 2TB drive that was previously in the DVR, it's still price reasonably and it's always nice to have some extra reliability features thrown in. Either way, for what it is, I consider it recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect balance between comfort, temperature, and price., October 11, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This pillow has a rather dense and heavy feel to it. It's firmer than most memory foam pillows I've used in the past. But it's still soft enough to provide some give when pressure is applied. The "cool gel" blue pad you see in the pictures can barely be felt through the two layers of cloth as it comes out of the packaging. Add on your own pillow case and you'll likely forget about it a few seconds later.

You do notice the cooling effect though. I have another ISO Cool pillow and found this one to last longer and doesn't get warm after a while. Most cooling pillows/sheets are only cool at first, then get warm once your body heat gets into the mix. But I found the gel to get the job done much better.

The pillow does have a noticeable synthetic odor, which is noted on a card that ships with the pillow. It says to air out for 24 hours. I have a rather sensitive nose, and I could still notice the odor 2 weeks later. I'm hoping it goes away. Fortunately it's not repulsive or anything; I'd just rather not smell it.

The real reason for 5 stars? The first night I used the pillow I slept better than I have all week. I don't like super soft pillows that go flat immediately. And I don't want to lay down on a rock. This pillow hits the perfect balance for optimal comfort while staying cool throughout the night. Although as usual, it's always up to your personal preferences.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't stop chewing this gum...but my teeth are happy, October 8, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I just like chewing gum, in general. Always been a fan. It tastes good and gives your teeth something to do in-between meals. My favorite is the one that has the shortest lasting flavor. Bubble mint. In fact, none of them really last a super long time. So I just grab a couple pieces and chew them all at the same time.

Which is probably why I go through a 15 pack so quickly. I grab one of these variety packs and a separate 15 pack of bubble mint, since that goes the fastest. If the taste and activity isn't enough to justify the cost, it does help keep my teeth clean. And my Dentist always says to "keep doing what I'm doing." So it's time to order another box!

5.0 out of 5 stars My wife loves the way this smells, October 8, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I think the title is enough to fully justify the 5 stars. But we've tried many different body washes and have always come back to this particular brand and scent. By "we," I mean I tried it, and my wife let me know if she liked the smell or not. And of course, I've grown rather accustom to the smell and even bought the matching deoterant.

Unfortunately many local stores have stopped carrying this scent and have new ones which are just weird. Why would I want to smell like the jungle? Seriously. Why. Fortunately, trusty Amazon has been carrying the "fresh" body wash. Time to stock up and keep the wife happy!

3.0 out of 5 stars If you can't find a better holster, this will technically work..., October 8, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Unfortunately, the less popular phones are left with limited options for cases. Especially if you need a holster case, as I do. I hate having anything in my pockets, especially a phone. More so given the fact that this is a 6" phone! I'd normally go with something like a Seidio case/holster, but this was all they had.

You'll pretty much find this exact case under different brands. Sometimes they get good reviews, sometimes not so much. Which doesn't make sense since they are the same thing.

You have a rubber case that slides onto the phone. It's rather loose, so don't expect to use this without the plastic bracket that attaches to the back of the case. This provides additional protection and helps keep it secure. It also adds noticeable bulk to the phone, which isn't ideal. Then you slide it into the belt holster. This part isn't as easy as it should be due to added friction. In particular when the exposed loose portion of the rubber covering gets caught on something.

You also have a pop-out plastic stand for watching movies in landscape mode. This really doesn't work well at all. It's extremely difficult to open it with your fingers. I just pretend it's not there. Much easier.

If you can find a better holster, go for it. Otherwise, this is probably going to be as good as it gets. :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Too soft and it just feels weird, October 8, 2014
Too soft? I usually use Soft or Very Soft tooth brushes as my gums are a bit more sensitive to hard bristles. But after using this tooth brush for a few days, I really didn't like it. It left my gums with this odd sensation and left them a bit more sensitive than they usually are. It's hard to explain, but it's as though these fine bristles are simply too soft. And you don't feel as though you're really cleaning anything. I went back to my normal software tooth brushes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect OEM replacement battery (Samsung Galaxy Note 3), October 8, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Perfect OEM replacement for my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. After nearly a year of use, the battery was starting to show signs that it was time for replacement. It just wasn't lasting quite as long as it used to. This Samsung battery looked identical to the one it was replacing. I installed it, gave it a full charge, and I'm back to "like-new" performance.

Just make sure you check the seller's reputation. Sometimes they'll sneak in there and sell knock-off products under the wrong product category. Which is usually where you run into negative reviews.

3.0 out of 5 stars A solid light weight and portable vacuum with limited versatility, October 8, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)

+ Light weight package
+ Very portable & compact
+ Nice 2-in-1 Tool
+ Adjustable power settings
+ Simple assembly
+ Retractable cord*
+ Flexible floor nozzle (i.e. "Turbo Floor Tool")

- Bit pricey
- Retractable cord can be finicky
- Not ideal for thick carpet
- Spinning bristles can't be turned off
- Plastic connectors don't always want to cooperate
- Noisy on hard surfaces with floor nozzle

As there aren't very many parts, setup and assembly is fairly straight forward. You could read the manual, but you might just be more confused. It's one of the guides that tries to cram as many languages on the same page as possible. Pictures aren't much more help. The most awkward part that took a few extra seconds was the bag installation. It goes into a plastic bracket that has two tabs which slide into the back of the housing. Then the lid simply closes over it. It might be confusing if you didn't actually see it installed like this.

The rest of the components all snap in simple enough. Although I did find that some required a bit more effort to get the plastic clips to actually align and snap into place properly. You'll need to do this rather often when you switch between the floor nozzle and 2-in-1 tool. Some just slide on and are held in place with friction. Others use the tab/lock mechanism which may or may not decide to cooperate.

There are apparently sightly different version of this unit as the one I received didn't have an actual handle when using the floor nozzle. You just grab onto a hard plastic piece towards the top of the hose. That also means the only way to power it on/off is by press the odd button on the base unit itself. There is a "power control" on the hose that simply opens allows air to escape.

But the real "power control" is on the main unit itself. You can adjust a slider to increase and decrease the power of the motor itself. Which is actually somewhat handy when you just don't need this thing running at 100%. On the opposite side of the power button is another button that retracts the power cord. Speaking of which, this didn't always work perfectly. Sometimes it will pull the cord in at a fast speed (watch your fingers!) or require multiple presses to coax it back into the unit.

You do have the removable exhaust filter (F83) and of course the disposable bag (Type R). There is also a light on the front to let you know when it's time to replace the bag. And that's about it for features.

We have moderately thick carpet and found the floor nozzle had some difficulty managing to clean it. At the very least, it did require turning the power to maximum so the spinning brushes would keep up. Of course with this design, the spinning bristles are powered via the air suction. If they get caught up in thick carpet, or you end up applying too much pressure, they will sometimes just stop spinning.

You also can't turn them off, so it's really no ideal for tile or hard wood surfaces. It will technically work, but the brushes usually end up throwing dirt all over the place. It also gets very loud when the floor nozzle is spinning at full speed. However, if there is one thing the floor nozzle is good at, that's getting into low and tight spaces. I can pretty much vacuum the entire underside of the king size bed. It's quite flexible!

Although the most beneficial part to me is using the clever 2-in-1 tool, which is actually 3 tools in one. A tool for crevices, a brush for dusting, and a more tradition open nozzle for cleaning larger spaces. Using this mode you can usually turn down the power and get cleaning. The main vacuum will happily follow you along or since it's so light, just carry it along.

While I really do appreciate it's compact and light weight features, I found it to be rather limited in versatility for my particular situation. If you don't have thick carpet and avoid hard surfaces, this vacuum should work perfectly. Although some may find it more efficient (i.e. cheaper) to just purchase a vacuum that already done most of those things out of the box.

It almost feels like a companion to a larger full featured vacuum cleaner that might not be able to handle 100% of the floor cleaning. It's really not a bad vacuum cleaner, but it's probably better suited for small houses or apartments where the pros might outweigh the cons for your particular use. Otherwise I'd suggest looking for a different type of vacuum cleaner in general.

4.0 out of 5 stars It gets the job done very well, just be aware of what's involved, October 1, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)

+ Really gets things clean
+ Easy to setup
+ Simple operation
+ Detachable hose
+ Provided solution smell nice (and cleans)

- Very noisy
- Expensive
- Somewhat heavy
- Can be cumbersome to operate for some

You've got what is basically a typically sized vacuum cleaner. Except this one is meant to compliment your existing cleaning arsenal and tackle the fun job of really getting in there and actually cleaning the carpet and tile-like surfaces. Assembly is fairly straight forward and was easy enough to manage without needing to dig into the manual.

Some of the components that need to be removed and re-installed can be a bit stubborn to install. Such as the dirty water canister and even the hose attachment. It requires a bit of force and there isn't always much noise to indicate it's actually snapped into place. There is a squeegee attachment that's mean for hard surfaces that is the hardest to remove. But it needs to be secure, so that's understandable.

Before you begin, it's important that the surface is already clean. So make sure you've swept or vacuumed first. Fill the top cannister with water and the provided cleaning solution. Speaking of which, there are two 16 oz bottles, one for tile and one for carpet. It'll take about half of that before it's full. This isn't going to last very long, so plan on purchasing more.

For example, with tile, we were able to clean the kitchen, dining, entry way, pantry, and a bathroom done before we ran out. Carpet area is comparable, but this all varies depending on the square footage.

Once the area is prepped and open, it's time to fire it up. First thing you'll notice is that this thing is LOUD. We have to move past that and start cleaning, however. There is a dial on the front you need to switch from Rise and Clean. You of course will start with Clean and squeeze the trigger on the handle to dispense the cleaning solution on the floor as you move in a forward and backwards motion. After releasing the trigger, you'll just let it suck up the water.

Also note that during this time, there are multiple scrubbing brushes going to work at cleaning the surface. And it's loud. So you know it's working. Then you switch over to rise and repeat the process above. Except this time you'll want to go a little slow as you move back and forth to make sure it sucks up the water.

Which I should add, it does quite well. Do note that there is a squeegee in use on hard surfaces. Once it starts to get dry in spots, there is much more added resistance. That's another sign that it's probably dry and time to move on to the next section. If for some reason it doesn't get dry, the dirty water canister is probably getting full. This dirty water is also nice indicator showing just how dirty everything was!

As for carpet, you'd simply remove the squeegee and repeat the exact same process. Except you'd want to use the carpet cleaning solution. Both of which smell rather nice, by the way. Our carpet is somewhat thick, so it can be more work with added resistance with the brushes. But that's all expected with a real carpet washer. If you've used a steam cleaner, you know.

The real issues arise in the actual cleaning of your hard surfaces and carpet. In that it actually requires a bit of work. You're moving a vacuum cleaning like thing over the same surface area multiple times. All while having more resistance than you're use with on carpet and on title when the squeegee hits some dry spots.

For example, my wife got tired after a few minutes and was ready to move on to something else. Unfortunately this meant that I had to take over most of the cleaning. This alone basically cost it a star. :) But seriously, it's not too difficult, you just need to follow the simple directions, take your time, and plan on a bit of work. After it's all done, you'll be happy with the clean looking and smelling results. And it's not something you'll get with a vacuum and mop!

Just make sure you wear some ear plugs. Overall, I consider it recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars New modern features on a proven flashlight design, October 1, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I have many flashlights, including a few Streamlights, and even the similar sized Streamlight 66118. Except the standard flash light uses normal batteries. What makes this one different? First, it has a "sleeve" towards the front that slides down to revel a micro-USB charging port. This feels solid and shouldn't allow dirt and such in there. The battery itself is a proprietary size Lithium-Ion battery pushing out 3.V, 660mAh, and 2.4Wh. Slightly concerning is the fact that the Cell and Assembly is from China. Only time will tell how long it holds up!

Otherwise it is rated for 3.5 hours, which honestly, isn't the best I've seen. Putting in normal lithium-ion batteries my other streamlights would result in considerably longer run time (more than double). However, this does push out more lumens, and of course, easily rechargeable! I mean, who doesn't have AC and DC micro-USB chargers all over the place?

Yes, it uses a standard micro-usb port and so far 3 phone chargers that I have laying around, including a 2A, work great. The included charger is 1A. There is also a nifty red/green LED to indicate when it's fully charged, or charging.

Otherwise it's your typical durable and high quality streamlight with it's sealed rubber button at the back to power on/off. And that's about it. I do wish it lasted longer on a charge and the battery source is questionable, but I'm impressed enough to give it a solid 4.9 stars. :)
