4.0 out of 5 stars Superb, August 4, 2010
This review is from: Mama Rosa (Audio CD)
Brian Blade is easily one of the best living drummers in modern jazz, or really any genre (ask Daniel Lanois or Emmylou Harris). The fact that he can compose beautiful jazz 'suites', as evidenced on his Fellowship records, just makes me respect him all the more. So when I heard he was releasing a 'singer/songwriter' album I was not sure what to think. Of course, as everything else Brian touches, it's an absolute gem of an album, and his voice is almost as stunning as his drumming and composing...simply superb album!

1.0 out of 5 stars Drivel, August 4, 2010
This review is from: Jersey Shore Soundtrack (Audio CD)
The definition of the word drivel? Noun: Silly nonsense. This is the best word I can find to describe this record. Much like the TV show, this record makes me sad. It is full of songs that seem like the artists simply 'mailed it in'. The sad part is that some of these artists are actually very good at what they do, and are deservedly well respected in their genres and in the greater music community. Unfortunately they will now be forever associated with a program that is making us all dumber for having watched it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Note From Nonesuch Records, August 7, 2007
This review is from: Big Science (Audio CD)
While we feel that the remastering of Laurie Anderson's Big Science dramatically improves the sound quality of the original CD, there was indeed a small omission: the first of two wolf howls that introduces track 2, "Big Science," is missing in the master used for the initial production run of the reissue. This error has since been fixed. Anyone who purchased the CD with the 'truncated' introduction to the title track may return it to us and we will send you the corrected version free of charge. Please see the product description above for more details.
