5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant research - stacks of info we didn't know about, December 2, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Brilliant work by Keith Scott with incredible research into the history, characters and circumstances regarding the rocky road to get the squirrel and moose on air!
Spent 9 hours in the plane between Hawaii and Sydney reading this book. And I'm only up to page 150! I'm a slow reader when I'm enjoying the book...

5.0 out of 5 stars Season 4 in April 2016, December 2, 2015
This review is from: Picket Fences: Season 3 (DVD)
Season 4 of Picket Fences is scheduled for an Australian release on Wednesday April 6 2016.
Season 3 of Picket Fences was released in Australia by Madman under license from Fox on February 10, 2016.
No doubt it'll be available through Amazon. BTW, the Pal format will play on NTSC TVs if you adjust your TVs setting to read either format automatically. That's how we watch NTSC discs here in Australia. But you'll probably still need a multi region DVD player.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mars Finally Lands on Earth via DVD-R, June 23, 2015

A great low budget sci-fi flick that scared the pants off me at the Hurstville Civic when I saw it as a kid. Good to see it get a DVD release at last. But these DVD-R on demand items are pretty pricey for just the movie. Maybe they could include some sub-titles for a change?

2.0 out of 5 stars $39.99 RIP OFF, June 14, 2015

A rip-off. Barely no editorial, just a list of each serial and credits. Printed pages are set off centre. $39.99 for this? Disgraceful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kate Finally in 3D !, November 28, 2014
WOW! Finally announced for a 3D Blu Ray release - even though we still have 4 months to wait to get it. I've been interested in the 3D release of this classic musical since WB gave the treatment to Dial M & House of Wax. Interesting to note (as of Nov 29 2014) it's more than $10 cheaper than those two I just mentioned. Hope Universal get going with 3D releases of Revenge of the Creature and It Came From Outer Space asap as well. Even Columbia's Mad Magician would be welcome in 3D.

1.0 out of 5 stars Where's Hope and Crosby?, November 13, 2014
This review is from: Variety Girl (DVD)
This 1947 movie isn't listed in the IMDB list of all Bob Hope films. It seems Hope (and Crosby) only appear in a short golf sketch.
Hope isn't even listed (as a star of the film) in the Leonard Matlin Classic Movie Guide. It seems a little misleading for Universal/Paramount to give both Hope and Crosby top billing on the DVD cover. I choose not to buy - especially at this terribly over inflated price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Is it better quality than Dial M for Murder 3D?, July 9, 2013
Was bitterly disappointed with Warner's woeful 3D release of Hitchcock's Dial M for Murder last year - so bad.
So wonder if they've improved anything with the 3D release of House of Wax in October. I'll wait to read the reviews of people prepared to fork out $35 to get this classic. I must be getting old - am becoming very cautious with stuff like this... and the price just has to come down too. The Price Ain't Right !

3.0 out of 5 stars LOUSY PACKAGING, October 9, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm looking forward to watching the 10 discs in this set, but the anticipation was somewhat diminished when the parcel arrived today. I could hear plastic rattling inside the package and, sure enough, after opening the padded bag and removing the shrink-wrap plastic, discovered the case was smashed, with all the discs coming loose.
Now have the inconvenience of having to find a place that sells 10 disc cases to replace the damaged one. Still, we're looking forward to enjoying the programme...

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Acted, Poorly directed, September 19, 2012
This 1973 telemovie is so incredibly bad, I have no idea why Warners would want to unearth it at all.
Director John Newland lets the cast stumble around like rag dolls in a southerly.
The low budget could only supply three goblins (three, count 'em, just three!) each with a rubber mask with no slot for a mouth.
Flood 'em with red light when they're still, then show a green light to show 'em moving!
Total bunk - wish I'd realised what a disappointment this flick was before I shelled out the cash - the 2011 remake (filmed in Melbourne, Australia) is 100 times better than this trash.
