5.0 out of 5 stars A Brilliant Call Back to Our Center, October 2, 2012
Creature of the Word calls church leaders back to our center, our core - The Gospel. The book dives into both the theological/Biblical basis for immersing everything in the local church in the Gospel, but also gives practical examples of what that would look like (a facet missing from so many books written to church leaders). As a groups pastor, the 3rd chapter (The Creature in Community) is simply the best chapter I've ever read in 20 years of ministry connecting the purpose of groups and the Gospel - 2 things that oftern exist side-by-side, but seem to have trouble intersecting. To write a book to church leaders reminding us of the prominence and importance of the Gospel in our churches seems an odd task (like writing a book to NFL players about the importance of the football). However, after reading Creature of the Word, you will understand how desperately needed this prophetic call really is.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Map & Compass, September 19, 2007
This review is from: Out of the Forest (Paperback)
Rick's book does a fantastic job of addressing the issues of the stagnant Christian and providing hope of a way out of a purposeless life. Rick's writing style is engaging, easy-to-read, challenging, and applicable. You'll love the way Rick identifies 5 different types of people who are wandering lost in the forest and gives 3 spiritual paths out. As the subtitle says, we need to re-engage into the life God has called us to live and for which He sent both His Son and His Spirit. Rick's book can help you shift gears.
