5.0 out of 5 stars Way to go Spielberg!!, December 7, 2005
This review is from: War of the Worlds (DVD)
Although the new version of this film does not closely follow the classic original, Steven Speilberg still managed to blow me away yet again. Does he ever fail? The main character in this version has the same name as the original, but he is a dock worker and not a scientist. I am not a very big fan of Tom Cruise but I have to admit, I was impressed with him this time around. The action was non-stop and for once, I have seen a new monster movie that actually scared me. I have seen hundreds if not thousands of science fiction, horror and monster films, so it is rare that I can actually be moved to the edge of my seat. Take a gander and see if you don't agree.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am in Freddy heaven!!!, November 17, 2005
This is just what I have been waiting for. A complete box set of the greatest horror movie series of all time. Nightmare 1 was awesome, introducing the idea that someone very evil could have the power to invade your dreams. Even though the story for Nightmare 2 deviates from the Freddy bible by having him possess a teenage boy, it is still extremely good. Nightmare 3 was fantastic with the return of Heather Langenkamp as Nancy Thompson as Freddy works to off the remaining Elm Street Children. Nightmare 4 is the MTV version of Elm Street where Freddy finishes off the last of the Elm Street Children and moves on to fresher prey. Nightmare 5 is disliked by many fans but I personally loved the dark, gothic-y feel they gave and appreciated how they tried to put Freddy back in the shadows. I was a bit disappointed with the slipshod rush job of Freddy's Dead. I felt they could have made it a little bit longer and really flesh out Freddy's past a bit more. It is still watchable, however. Wes Craven's New Nightmare is freakin' genious. Only Wes Craven could devise a way to take the movie out of the movie and turn it on it's ear into reality. The 8th and last disc is the Nightmare Encyclopedia with every extra I could think of. I highly recommend this box set for any Freddy fan or horror fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the great undiscovered treasures of the 80's, November 16, 2005
This review is from: The Wraith [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I remember seeing The Wraith the night before Thanksgiving, 1987. I was surprisingly impressed. Even though it can be a little cheesy at times, it has enough character to make up for it. The Wraith-mobile was the coolest car that I had seen growing up, except for K.I.T.T. or the General Lee, until 1989's Batmobile. The cast including Randy Quaid, Charlie Sheen, Sherilyn Fenn, and Clint Howard turned in exceptional performances. Charlie Sheen comes back from the grave as a Wraith with a really cool car to avenge his death from a group of road pirates and to get his old girlfriend. Be sure to look for Skank and Gutter-boy. They are a hoot. If like off-the-beat films from any era, especially the 80's, then you have got to get this movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Desperately underrated., November 16, 2005
This review is from: Medazzaland (Audio CD)
Medazzaland did not get anywhere near the attention it deserves. This is clearly one of the best Duran Duran album and there are many excellent ones. Every track on this CD shines. For me the standouts were: "Out Of My Mind", "Buried in The Sand", "Midnight Sun", and "So Long Suicide". I would recommend any Duran Duran album, but this is one of my favorites. Buy a copy and give it a listen and you'll see why.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still the best bat., November 2, 2005
This review is from: Batman (1989) (DVD)
I have not seen the new Batman flick yet, but for now this Batman, in my opinion, is still the best. Michael Keaton was a surprisingly good choice for the role. No one has done The Bat more justice. Jack Nicholson will always be the only Joker that matters. Nobody steals a scene like Jack. The tone of the movie is dark, gothic and brooding--the way that Batman was originally intended to be. It's certainly 20 miles better than the day-glo pieces of trash, "Batman Forever" & "Batman & Robin". This movie also features one of the best Batmobiles ever. A true classic that every child should see before viewing the new movie so they can see how it should be done.

5.0 out of 5 stars So glad they got it right!!!!, November 1, 2005
When the official word came out that there would be a Freddy Vs. Jason film, I was so worried that they would not be able to come up with a plausible story line. I could not have imagined a better way for this movie to take place. Kudos to the director, producers, writers and actors. THE BEST VS. MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!!! If you have not seen this movie--see it now. If you do not own this movie---buy it now. Both Freddy and Jason are allowed to shine and get their licks in. Word of warning---It's a bloodbath baby!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Former New Kid makes good., November 1, 2005
This review is from: Stay the Same (Audio CD)
Little Joey Joe has grown up and so has his talent. The first solo album is a really good start. Standouts are "Stay The Same" and "I Love You Came Too Late". There really is not a bad track on the album. I loved Joe's voice back when he was in NKOTB, after it matured of course, and it's even better now.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE ONE THAT STARTED IT ALL!!!!!, October 19, 2005
THIS IS IT!!!! THE FATHER OF ALL SLASHER FILMS. BEFORE JASON, FREDDY, PINHEAD AND CHUCKY, THERE WAS THE SHAPE...OR MICHAEL MYERS AS WE ALL KNOW HIM. THIS ONE STILL SPOOKS ME. THE SPOOKIEST PART OF THIS FILM, BESIDES THE CLASSIC SCORE BY DIRECTOR JOHN CARPENTER, IS A SILENT KILLER IN A SNOW WHITE MASK WITH A SHOCK OF HAIR AND ALMOST NON-EXISTENT EYES. IF YOU ARE A FAN OF THIS FILM, THEN THIS IS THE EDITION YOU WANT. IT HAS ALMOST EVERY IMAGINABLE GOODIE YOU COULD WANT. THE ONLY THING LACKING IS THE HALLOWEEN DOCUMENTARY FEATURED ON THE RESTORED VHS WITH THE HOLOGRAPHIC COVER. THIS FILM ALSO DOES NOT FEATURE THE MADE-FOR-TV FOOTAGE THAT YOU CAN GET BY PURCHASING A COPY OF THE DVD WITH THE TV FOOTAGE. IF YOU ARE A FAN OF MODERN HORROR--GET THIS MOVIE!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST PRINCE ALBUM EVER., October 19, 2005
THIS IS, BY FAR, THE BEST PRINCE ALBUM EVER. I BOUGHT ON LP WHEN I WAS 15 WITH THE POSTER INSERT AND HAVE SINCE BOUGHT IT ON CASSETTE AND CD. IF YOU LIKE PRINCE AT ALL, THEN THIS IS A MUST HAVE. THE REVOLUTION IS THE BEST BAND HE EVER HAD. WE ALL KNOW "WHEN DOVES CRY" WAS AN INSTANT CLASSIC. BUT MY FAVORITE IS THE LONG "PURPLE RAIN". ALSO VERY NOTEWORTHY IS "THE BEAUTIFUL ONES", "I WOULD DIE 4 U" AND "BABY, I'M A STAR". THIS ALSO RANKS AS ONE OF THE BEST SOUNDTRACKS OF ALL TIME.
