4.0 out of 5 stars Should be on the bookshelf of every American., January 21, 2005
This book is for every American to read. From the most profound conservative to the most radical anarchist. A lot of people are marching in the streets bashing Bush and opposing his policies. They call him the devil, they compare him to Hitler, they call him a war-mongeror...which is perfectly legal, and you know what? When those people are done shouting from the top of their lungs what is the one thing they can do? Go home and get right back up and do it again. A huge freedom many people take for granted.

Ladies and Gentlemen the author of this book was thrown in a soviet gulag for over a decade for teaching English. I REPEAT!!! TEACHING ENGLISH!!! Sharansky lays out it in a clear conscise form the differences between a free society (the west) and a fear society (USSR) and illustrates that Democracy is the key to freedom and by being free, the soul is free, and that is the way human beings should live.

There are many points on the arab-israeli struggle and the successions Israel has made to alleviate the tension and the way Arafat let his people rot away in slums while he lived like a king. Sharansky lays out the successes of democracy and the failures of oppression. I don't want to get into to much detail about Sharansky's theories because i just got done reading it for the first time, but i will say this; anyone who takes their freedom for granted will no longer after the completion of this book

3.0 out of 5 stars Stick to Original Material, November 4, 2004
This review is from: Emotive [Explicit] (Audio CD)
APC is one of the few bands in this garbage filled era of Rock N' Roll who are better making songs with their own material then covering past influences. That has never been more apparanet than Emotive. The songs are quite boring to say the least. "Passive" sounds better Live (there is a copy of the song circulating out there) and quite a few other songs just hum along to a dull and anti-climatic beat.

I believe APC would have been able to protest the current administrations policies more effectivaly if they wrote their own anti-war songs instead of re-hashing old hippie songs. I mean the group is an all-star cast of rock gods for pete-sake.

I think the hippies of the sixties have proven that you can b*tch and moan all you want, but if you don't come up with an credible alternative to the current status-quo you are really just whinning and people will begin to turn you off...and that is what I did with Emotive. Someone put on Mer De Noms for me please.

4.0 out of 5 stars should be in every american household., September 5, 2004
This book tells an immensly entertaining story of how the CIA help the mujahadeen push back the invading russian forces in Afghanistan. In the 80's this campaign by Charlie Wilson and his love for the muj. actually helped defeat communism and create the re-birth of ismlamic fundamentalism. The novel flows so smoothly and the characters in this book are truly one of a kind. The amount of detail expressed in this book about how washington strings are pulled and played is incredible. Buy this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars you ain't the only vet out there John, September 5, 2004
If John Kerry believes he is qualified to be President of the United States simply because he is war a veteran....5 million other veterans of this nation should be on the ballot as well. Mr. Kerry stop talking about Vietnam and start talking about the issues. No one in the country wants to be reminded about a war we lost. My registration card says democratic, but come November my vote will not.

5.0 out of 5 stars He should be our leader, April 23, 2004
This man is better than Bush or Kerry in every aspect of human life.
Any American born citizen should read everything of his published works and stand behind this man. He is the last politican who truly believes in the American Dream.
Only review I ever gave 5 stars. Haven't even finished the book and will tell you this is priceless knowledge.

4.0 out of 5 stars the way old-school should be on DVD., April 22, 2004
This review is from: 7 Grand Masters (DVD)
First off, the print of this dvd is great for an old-school kung-fu flick. The picture is crisp yet still has that old school feel and it has the orignal dubbed track, not some new dubbed garbage you find on most of the remastered fung-fu DVD's. Also has orignal dialogue for fans who don't like the cheesy dubbed voices.
The movie itself is a little over rated as being one of the best ever of the genre, but it is still highly entertaining. Predictable plot and bad hair-wigs galore...but most watch these flicks for the almost super-human fight scenes.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor, Poor DVD quality., January 21, 2004
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dance of the Drunk Mantis (DVD)
Let me say that this is a terrible re-print of this movie. It looks like it was transferred from a bootleg VHS tape. It is cropped on all four corners and the colors are bleeding everywhere. This "insta-action" also is the biggest joke i have seen. It makes the whole DVD skip to certain scenes and you don't know what is going on.
It is a shame these classic movies are only getting re-mastered in Asia and not encoded for DVD players over here. Whatever you do, stay away from this edition of this movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars 80's horror you probably never seen, December 3, 2002
This review is from: Phenomena (DVD)
I am just getting into Argento but i think what you need to do to enjoy his films is forget about the acting, and watch the way he works the camera and sells suspense. from the moment you turn the movie on you start to feel like this is going to be really good.
The way he uses the Swiss Countryside and Goblins score, make this movie pretty creepy. Jen Connelly has this cosmic link with inscects and all these murders are going on, and the flies are telling her whats up. or something like that. Look the story's not the point. Watch the movie and you will be shocked at the murders, the motives, and the monkey? I enjoyed this film. I am usually not freaked out by horror films but this on will do it.

4.0 out of 5 stars New viewers, take it from me this is great!, December 3, 2002
Deciding to take previous reviwers advice, on how good this movie is i bought this movie becuase i just seen Jennifer Connelly in Phenomena, a 1985 Argento film. I was creeped out and amazed on how eerie the movie was. I particualrly enjoyed the score.
Anyway, I started looking into this Dario Argento character and aparently he is a God in Italian cinema. Even though he is not too famous in the states the people who do watch his films love him. Kind of like the Those "Zombie freaks" that love Romero.
This apparently is his definitive masterpiece of a three part trilogy involving withces.(the third is not made yet) The way this guy freaks you out and shoves the violence and suspense down your throat has been unseen before by me and quite frankly i enjoyed it. The score is scary as hell and the lighting will make you wish you stayed sober for the movie. Each death scene has never been done before and beleive me you will want to take your eyes off of it. The last 15 minutes of the movie will make you turn the light back on and lock the all the windows why you sit in your bed in silence trying to ponder what you just watched.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Scarefest!, July 19, 2002
This review is from: Evil Dead (Special Edition) (DVD)
This whole series is absolutely excellent! However, the first has the absence of comedy and is packed with scary scenes. Sam Raimi has done a marvelous job scarring the hell out of me with this low-budget nightmare. This movie is an absoulte must for any horror fan, and i also recommend getting Evil Dead 2 and Army Darkness.
The second and third films have quite a bit of funny scenes in them and they made Bruce Cambell turn into a "Cult-Film-Hero." However this first film is a triumph in every sence of the word. Stop Reading and reviews and buy it already!
