3.0 out of 5 stars Not sure about these!!, July 2, 2016
These are fun to watch if you like gross out humor, the idea of a foul-mouth Teddy Bear I am sure looked good on paper, upon watching these I found myself laughing out loud, upon a second viewing, not so much, I will admit a Teddy Bear with a NY-screw-you-accent is no doubt fun to watch, but I just don't get Seth McFarland's obsession with bodily functions......

In the first film a kid in 1985 wishes his teddy bear to come to life, his wish is granted....fast foward to 2012 & the kid (Mark Wahlberg) is now grown up & in a relationship with Mila Kunis who feels Ted is a bit intrusive, their relationship is put to the test as Wahlberg has to decide which one is more important, the relationship aspect is good, but Kunis coming home to find Ted with a bunch of call girls where one has crapped on the floor was a bit too much, which bothered me a bit......a totally unnecessary scene to say the least.....the pot smoking scenes again unnecessary........things I did like was Sam J. Jones making fun of himself as his 1980 film "Flash Gordon" is Ted & Wahlberg's favorite movie, Sam really has fun here with that & since he is playing himself, one wonders if he is a pothead....all in all the first film is good but mainly because of Mila Kunis who brings dignity to the film, however I can see why she didn't return for the sequel.........there is also a reference to "Superman Returns" at the end where the narrator (Patrick Stewart) talks about how horrible the film is, please Seth, keep your opinion to yourself!!!!!!!!!.....not everybody thinks your films are great either!!

The second film is more of the same with the gross out humor, such as the scene at the fertility clinic where Wahlberg accidently has a shelf fall on him with many semen samples getting all over him, again, what is Seth's obsession with bodily fluids???....yes it is played for laughs, but it amazes me that the MPAA didn't demand the scene be cut, In this one Ted wants to prove he is human, & Amanda Seyfried fills in for the female love interest for Wahlberg who is Ted's attorney to fight for his right to be recognized as a person, but she too is a pot smoker, this one likes to rip off many others films such as Liam Neeson making a cameo playing his "Taken" character, to Ted driving down a road in a scene that rips off "Planes, Trains, & Automobiles", the only real fun part is the end where they end up at comic-con where Michael Dorn is dressed up as Worf (Star Trek Next Generation) who played the character on the show, Sam J. Jones once again making fun of himself as "Flash Gordon" to the "Jurassic Park" theme playing when Ted & Wahlberg discover a pot field, if you like gross out humor this is for you, but after a second viewing I found these films a bit to hard to take, they really require a serious suspension of disbelief big time, another ridiculous scene is in the courtroom when Ted's wife says he has no male anatomy despite the fact that we have already seen him having sex with her, she is not all that likeable, although Mark Wahlberg has fun in these films, he has done better things, Amanda Seyfried really is much more talented to be in a film like this, she does her best with what she was given to work with, but she wasn't given the same material that Mili Kunis was given & that is a shame......

Overall....these are good if you like bathroom humor or pot smoking scenes......unfortunately Cheech & Chong Ted & Wahlberg are NOT!
but after a second viewing not so funny.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have if you like "The Rock", May 10, 2016

This is one cool action figure, let's face it, "The Rock" is at his best when he is on the mic, with this figure you are reminded of "The Rock" insults & one-liners, when "The Rock" gets on the mic....."magic happens" pure & simple.....well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hey, its "Star Wars".., January 1, 2016
I have read many reviews here good & bad & both have some merit, I was somewhat disappointed at first, but decided to give this one another look & it was much better the second time around, I was a bit fustrated with J.J. Abrams pulling a "Lost" routine where questions are raised, but not answered, however after a second viewing, I got some answers that others may have, I won't summarize the film, many have already done so, but here is my take on some things people have been upset about....

Rey's abilty to pilot the Falcon, yes this seems idiotic, but she does fly it like an amatuer at first before getting the hang of it
Rey defeating Kylo Ren.....yes...this bugged me at first, but if you watch closely Kylo Ren is injured & has Rey on the defensive until he tries to sway her to his side, once she closes her eyes as she was told earlier she would awaken the force within her if she did so, she suddenly puts him on the defensive & has the force within her, this should be explained better in the next film.
Who found Luke's lost lightsaber?.. we are told by the alien woman to ask another time, I guess we will find out.

Now many have said that this one mirrors "A New Hope", to some extent I would agree, but I think it mirrors "The Phantom Menace" a bit more, if you remove Jar Jar & all the political mumbo jumbo from TPM, you almost have the same movie....examples by comparison...

Rey/Anakin realizing their full potential with their Force-like abilties
Han & Chewie/Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon thrown into a adventure by accident
Snoke/Darth Sideous manipulating events behind the scenes
Finn/ Jar Jar both defecting to help our heros
Kylo Ren/Darth Maul both intimidating as a villian & very skillful with a lightsaber, but easliy defeating once distracted
A bittersweet victory at the end, but far from over.
Han Solo/Qui-Gon meeting their demise at the hands of said villians.

Do we even know if Kylo Ren survived the explosion?

I still think Rey may be Luke's daughter....Daisy Ridley resembles Natalie Portman way too much, & Daisy sure is sweet to look at.

All & all this film delivers the goods, you won't catch everything the first time around, but with repeated viewings, some things will make sense, my only disappointment was Mark Hamill's screen time being reduced to the last scene, but hopefully the next film "Ep VIII" will make up for this.

J.J. Abrams delivered the action no doubt.

Unlike many, Han Solo's demise doesn't bother me as much, he & Obi-Wan have always been my favorite characters, now both are written out of future films, again this one is a winner & will please most fans.....I still feel "Revenge of the Sith" is the best one, I would rank this one at No. 4......my ranking from best to least favorite

1. Revenge of the Sith
2. A New Hope
3. The Empire Strikes Back
4. The Force Awakens
5. Attack of the Clones
6. The Phantom Menace
7. Return of the Jedi.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better the second time around, October 9, 2015
I had not seen this one since it came out in 1996, I was disappointed with the fact that it copied the first film, so a few weeks ago I decided to give it another look, I have to say this one grew on me the second time around, yes, it has the same plot of the first film, but it is a bit different in many ways too, seeing a ravaged L.A. & many of its landmarks in ruins is pretty well done giving the effects they used, although I wonder if John Carpenter really wanted to make it, Kurt Russell once again embodies the character of Snake Plissken, he has said that this is one of his favorite characters & it really shows, if you can get past the repeat moments of the first film, than this is just a fun ride, the first film is no doubt better, but this one is just downright fun especially the wave surfing moments, a guilty pleasure no doubt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome film.....see it!!, October 9, 2015
There is nothing I can say that others haven't said, this is a must see for anyone who loves their country, never cared much for Bradley Cooper, but this one has made me like him as an actor, his portrayal of Chris Kyle is awesome & Sienna Miller gives a great performance as his wife, I will be getting this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slow at first, but once it gets going it is non-stop!!, October 9, 2015
At first I wasn't impressed with this one, but I got to say this was an intense film where a undercover cop (DiCaprio) who is infiltrating the mob led by Jack Nicholson & risks having his cover blown as he is being sought out by another cop(Damon) who is an informant for the mob, this is one cool cat & mouse thriller, I won't review this one's plot, other reviewers have already done so, definately Martin Scorsese's best film since "Goodfellas", all the positive reviews are right on here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Disaster film in years!!, May 30, 2015
If there has ever been a disaster film showing the severe damage that a earthquake can cause, it is this one, the premise of this film is nothing new, Hollywood has had its share of disaster films over the years, this one more or less has elements of "2012" in it, but is more faster paced than "2012" was, but it does borrow from that film which was good in its own right, like that one, we have a estranged couple (Dwayne Johnson & Carla Gugino) who are brought back together by this disaster, Johnson plays a fire department search & rescue helicopter pilot who witnesses Los Angeles suffer a severe earthquake, it appears that the San Andreas fault has begun to shift & buildings begin to tumble with Gugino just barely escaping with her life who is rescued by Johnson, it also appears that the quake is also causing San Francisco to be affected as well, which suffers far more devestation than Los Angeles, their teenage daughter is in San Francisco with Gugino's new boyfriend who ends up abandoning her to fend for herself, Johnson & Gugino decide to fly to San Francisco to rescue her, although we have seen Los Angeles & New York leveled in other films, never have I seen a film in which San Francisco gets leveled to the extreme, residents of that city are not going to be fans of this film, this scenario is so real as San Francisco gets leveled like never before, the filmakers make it looks so real & frightning, even the Golden Gate bridge gets leveled, definately one of the best disaster films to come along in awhile, this one is definately ranked up there with films like "2012", "Deep Impact" & "Independence Day" & is what the filmakers of 1973's "Earthquake" might have done if the technology of CGI had been available then, Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) is fast becoming one of Hollywood's best action stars, I would definately put him up there with Stallone & Arnold, a former wrestler turned actor, Johnson is one of the few to make such a transistion, others have tried & failed, but Johnson is no doubt a natural when it comes to being a action hero, & Carla Gugino proves that at age 44 you don't need plastic surgery to look younger, just take care of yourself, Gugino is still beautiful & one wonders why she hasn't had a better career before, somehow she has been overlooked by Hollywood over the years, & I have to wonder why, if you like disaster films than this is not one to be missed.

2.0 out of 5 stars When "Dallas" became "24"....., February 9, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
You know as a fan who owns all 14 seasons as well as the "Early Years", there is somthing to be said about TNT's revival of this show, the 1st Season from 2012 was what one would expect from this show some 20 years later, John Ross following in J.R.'s footsteps, Christopher following in Bobby's footsteps, love triangles, Cliff & J.R. still trying to out do each other & so on, the 1st season was awesome, & really reminded you of why this show ruled the 80's, then came the second season, the passing of Larry Hangman was unfortunate, but the way his character J.R. was written out is debatable, suddenly this show became a little hard to swallow, the Harris Ryland character seemed like a good character to give the Ewings a problem, you really despised him & knew he was going to be a great rival to the Ewings, but then he is turned into a mama's boy with Judith Light as his overbearing mother, not a good idea, but tolerable, then came this season 3, & suddenly the show becomes "24" with the Ewings battling mexican drug cartels..what??...framing Cliff in season 2 was not a good thing for the Ewings to do, this was totally out of character for Bobby, & not even J.R. would have gone that far, but then again Cliff did a very bad thing, but I kept hoping he would be freed by them in exchange for him helping them battle the cartels, we had seen this many times in the 80's show where everyone pulled together for the sake of the oil business even if they despised one another, Cliff in the old show you could have sympathy for, here they completely turn him into a very bad guy who has no regard for his own daughter's life, that was mistake No.1, Bobby in this season has to break his code of ethics & morals to save his wife from the drug cartels, that was mistake No.2, John Ross' secretary is murdered by these cartels, I can't even say how on here, but it is right out of "24", things like this is what I think turned many people off to this show, for TNT to cancel it could only mean one thing, ratings had fallen & it is not hard to see why, there is even one scene where John Ross' wife catches him with his mistress & then engages a short threesome with him & the mistress, this of course did not bother me, but it did bother a lot of other people I am sure, I don't think they would gotten away with that in the older show, all in all this season was a disappointment to me, considering that the first season was on par with the older series, the second season somwhere in between, this season 3 went completely off the rails & into "24" territory, the drug cartels get the best of the Ewings, whereas J.R. probably would have hired mercenaries to take them out, this was just a bad season overall, & a Ewing dies at the end with no resolution in sight, stick with the older show & Season 1, season 2 is o.k., this one is more like "24".

5.0 out of 5 stars A vast improvement over Seasons 1 & 2!!, December 13, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Covert Affairs: Season 3 (DVD)
This season is more gritty & has an on-going storyline, somthing that was really missing in the first two, it is clear that the show's producers hired new writers this time, I always felt the writing was a bit weak in seasons 1 & 2, not here, this season has a "24" like feel to it, Piper Perabo who is approaching 40 is still smoking hot & proves that age doesn't matter if you take care of yourself, she also has executive producer credit here as well & once again doesn't disappoint as CIA operative Annie, & yes this time she carries a gun & uses it, again somthing that was lacking in the first two seasons, Annie gets a new boss but only briefly, her new boss is played by Sarah Clarke who has an agenda all her own & pretty much plays the same character she did on "24", Annie also experiences an unlikely romance which I am sure Perabo had a lot of input in that is unpredictable & has many surprises, after a lackluster Season 2 I almost gave up on this show, but this season definately changed my mind, now I only hope Season 4 stays on the same path.
