3.0 out of 5 stars Looks nice for decoration but not a fully functioning table cloth, October 24, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This works okay as a doily, but the product header says this works as a tablecloth which I don't feel is accurate. It's a lacy type material which is thin and has eyelets throughout so the table underneath is not really covered as much as you would want from a table cloth. Looks nice for decoration but not a fully functioning table cloth. If that's what you're looking for then this is an okay, middle-of-the-road product. Exactly three stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deco snowflake, October 21, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
It's lovely necklace. Very delicate design that reminds me of a snowflake with a little nod to art deco.
It's light enough I don't feel my neck weighted down as I often do with a pendant of this size.
The chain is the only part that is a little challenging. Even when I first unpacked the necklace from it's pouch the chain was all wound up around itself. I have to be very careful storing away when not wearing because it tangles up so easily. But that's just a five minute job to untangle and put this finishing touch on an outfit. Overall I'm very pleased.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Collection, October 20, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is an excellent book containing all of the Wonder Woman daily newspaper strips running from 1944-45. There are three strips to a page and they are all printed in black and white. All of the strips are from the DC Comics archives and the quality varies from proofs to cutouts from newspapers. Overall the presentation is good on a nice matte paper in a sturdy hardcover. The stories are simple but for me that's part of their charm. It's nice to see the H.G. Peter artwork in black and white and I enjoyed this collection a lot. Great collection for dedicated Wonder Woman fans. If this is your first time looking at vintage material you are probably better off starting with one of the DC Archive editions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Improvement Over Internal Notebook Microphone, October 17, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The CAD Audio U9 MiniMic is an improvement over the internal microphone in my notebook computer. The microphone, about the size of a cheap plastic lighter), plugs in via USB. My computer picked it up quickly and it was operational within a minute. The mic can forward and backwards about ninety degrees. It cannot rotate left or right. This adds a noticeable improvement in the volume of your voice. When recording it sounds better and louder using the mic than using the built-in mic. One thing that is a minus is that with the MiniMic plugged in, the sound coming out only comes out through the MiniMic. There is an audio jack on the side of the MiniMic where you plug in headphones or earbuds. The sound no longer comes out of my regular notebook speakers. And with the MiniMic plugged in I'm unable to change the sound speaker back to my regular notebook. Once the MiniMic is unplugged the sound comes back out of the regular notebook speakers. Are there better microphones? Yes. But I didn't want a large tabletop microphone system. This one is very compact and provides some improvement. The build seems fine and if you are looking for a little improvement in sound recording quality in a small form factor and low price then this is a good purchase.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
A Thousand Pieces of You starts off quickly: the hero's (Marguerite) scientist parents are murdered by one of their assistants, Paul, who escapes with their dimensional traveling device called the Firebird. With the help of Theo, another assistant, who has two prototype versions of the FIrebird they decide to dimension travel and track down Paul and bring him to justice. The book quickly evolves into a chase story with some YA romance thrown in. The main characters are not described in-depth so it's hard to become fully attached to them, especially Marguerite. The most interesting part of the book was the premise of inter-dimensional travel. All around us are thousands of other dimensions where history evolved in a different way. With each "coin flip" history encounters new dimensions are created where each possibility came true. The main character is able to transport her mind into the mind of alternate dimension selves. It isn't time travel because you can't go backwards or forward in time. You just go from one history to an alternate history. The premise is interesting and I wish it had been taken further. Still it was just enough for me to keep going and it's an easy read. If you have an interest in alternate dimensions this might be enjoyable for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soft & Comfortable: Memory foam is the way to go, October 13, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I have been so tired of trying to find a comfortable spot to rest my head on airplanes. I once tried a blow up neck pillow and didn't find it to be much better. I figured it was time to try something a little different. The memory foam concept seemed like a great idea and compared to an inflatable pillow it is in fact a whole world of better. My neck feels cradled and it's still soft but sturdy. It takes up a bit of space in my carry on bag but with the amount of comfort it brings to the flying experience I'll gladly make room for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks Great Even In Black & White, October 13, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great X-Men even in black and white. I also have the color omnibus editions but have also bought the Essential series because it lets you see the artwork without the coloring. It's closer to seeing the original artwork and nice to see the beautiful inking by Terry Austin. If you like looking at original art pages this is a nice substitute and you get a lot of pages in this Essential book. For those coming to the material for the first time you're better off with the color omnibus. But for those wanting to get an idea of what the original artwork looks like this is recommended.

Modern Man: The Life of Le Corbusier, Architect of Tomorrow
Modern Man: The Life of Le Corbusier, Architect of Tomorrow
by Anthony Flint
Edition: Hardcover
Price: $16.87

3.0 out of 5 stars Of Interest To Le Corbusier Specialists, October 11, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Modern Man: The Life of Le Corbusier is a biography of the architect (Charles-Édouard Jeanneret) who was an early proponent of urban planning, architecture and design. The book tries to concentrate on the man and his personal life and struggles rather than stick to being a straightforward analysis of his architecture. The problem is that the most interesting aspect of Le Corbusier is his architecture and design and as I was reading the book I wanted to see more of the architecture because Le Corbusier's life story was only semi-interesting. While a good attempt, anyone interested in Le Corbusier is probably better served with a traditional art/architecture book filled with pictures and critical essays. For devotees this is probably of interest, but for new of casual readers not recommended.

Jeff Koons: Conversations with Norman Rosenthal
Jeff Koons: Conversations with Norman Rosenthal

Price: $19.50

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, October 10, 2014
Jeff Koons Conversations is exactly that: a book length Q&A with Koons talking in-depth about his art career. If you are a Jeff Koons fan this is perhaps the most insightful discussion of his art you are going to find. Hearing the artist talk about his artwork is much more interesting to me than reading art-speak essays and critiques. All of his work is covered and the book is well illustrated with examples so you can see what is being referenced as you are reading along. While the dimensions of the book would be considered small for an art book I think of this more as a text-based book with illustrations and it works fine. The illustrations are all in color in a well-produced, sturdy hardcover. For Koons fans this is a must-have book for the library. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid State, October 7, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
These speakers are a throwback to the days when most stereo systems had separate speakers versus today's all-in-one more compact docking stations or blutooth portable speakers. They provide a solid, loud, sound but volume isn't everything. To my ears there's a bit of "hiss" and a depth that is lacking. But because of the size and weight (these are fairly heavy for the size) these produce a loud sound if that's what you're after. And because you have separate speakers you're going to have more wires and clutter which also seems to go against the grain of today's simplification mindset. So while these may produce a louder sound than the Bose mini, I still prefer the Bose mini for the sound depth and the compact form factor. But if you don't mind the size these seem solidly built for those wanting to get closer to "11" on the sound scale.
