5.0 out of 5 stars My heart and Milo and Otis, June 4, 2002
ever since way back when, i was maybe 6 years old, i still remember when i first rented it from the video store. it took my little breathaway. whenever i went back to rent a movie, i begged my mom to let me rent it again, until she finally bought it for me.
this beautiful tale has so many layers, heart, and spirit, i can't begin to explain it. the first thing i should mention is, dont get fooled to thinking animals got hurt during the making of this, because they DIDNT. Masanori Hata takes VERY good care of his animals. he shot milo and otis on his own private island in Japan. the original movie was called the Adventures of Chatran, and it was longer. ( i've never seen it, i've been looking for years ) i hope someday i will see it. koneko monogatari ( milo and otis ) makes me cry at the beauty, sadness, and then joy finally. its a celebration of life. you can't dismiss it as a mere " kid's movie", it is for everyone. i detest the "adult" mindset, because it disables them from experiancing all forms of beauty. this is not a movie to me, it's a part of me, and it shares a special place in my heart.
i love milo and otis. - jeffro

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Stuff, you ignoramuses!, June 4, 2002
To the people who no NOTHING about this movie:
You obviously didn't know that this was Burton's FIRST film-give him a LITTLE credit, will you?
And also Danny Elfman's first theatrical score ( not including the Forbidden Zone theme ). The breakfast machine is awesome. The movie was well done, especially the heard task of a much down-graded character like Pee-Wee Herman. Paul ( Reubens ), you did an EXCELLENT job!!!
The plot is meant to be funny, and the film meant to be enjoyed by all. What did you expect out of this film?? Well, it met MY expectations.
The DVD is awesome. Special Features include:
* audio-commentary by Paul Reubens and Tim Burton
* music-only track with commentary by Danny Elfman
* theatrical trailer
Good job all!

5.0 out of 5 stars "The way a movie should be made" EPIC, May 23, 2002
Brad Pitt sums it up best in the DVD edition of Legends of the Fall. It's the way a movie should be made, and it was made superbly. Set in Montana and thereabouts, Legends is about a family on the verge of WW1, who are very passionate and genuine, living in a seemingly distant far away world, somewhere in the vast country, in an era of discontent, because of wars, and rumors of wars. The musical score by James Horner really captures the whole surrounding and emotion that Legends brings. I'm sure many others have gotten the plot down.
( Originally a novella by Jim Harrison.)
So I will talk about the DVD. The DVD is a great buy, I just purchased it the other day. For the money, it is worth it, though I was a little disappointed at the length of the Featruette.
*Edward Zwick and Brad Pitt audio commentary
*Cinematographer John Toll and Production Designer Lilly Kilvert audio commentary
*Production Design featurette
*Original making-of featurette
* 3 DELETED SCENES with audio commentary
*Isolated musical score with audio commentary
( though Horner doesn't say a word )
*Theatrical trailers & Talent Files
*Production Notes
The rest is just menus, video and sound quality, subtitles (english, french, spanish, porteguese, chinese, korean, and thai) and multilanguage audio. And it's WIDESCREEN
Hope you got some info, i highly recommend the DVD! - Jeffro
