5.0 out of 5 stars this album is going to be huge....., June 14, 2005
This review is from: In Your Honor (Audio CD)
this album is the best of both worlds for music lovers, especially foo fighters fans. the first disc is a passionate, loud, and sometimes rageful expression of deep feelings.

their first single is so well written, "the best of you". it's a song that is just so full of heartache that anyone can relate to those feelings. the foo fighters sound like they're really expanding and growing as a band. key tracks on disc one; "in your honor" "the best of you" and "the last song" don't get me wrong, i think all the songs are great, but those are the ones that stuck out right away for me.

now on to the more quiet disc 2. it's awesome and different, really melodic guitar, it's a disc that you can just listen to and get sucked into with the way the lyrics are just woven together into the music. key tracks on disc 2 are "what if i do" "over and out" "on the mend" and "razor".

this album can fit so many moods, i've only had it for a day and already i love it. it's the best of both worlds, loud expression and quiet introspection. i would recommend this album to almost anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars i can't believe no one has reveiwed this yet.., June 8, 2005
93.7 the edge was one of the best radio stations in minnesota, they played EVERYTHING! this "best of" cd is awesome, it has killer tracks from flipp, no doubt, poe, dishwalla, and an awesome track from blind melon (recorded 2 weeks before shannon hoon died.) i'm not so crazy that amazon is asking 30 dollars for it, but it's definatley worth checking out if you're a fan of the '90's music like i am. it also has some bits from the morning show that are hilarious. they have the chucker doing his confusing phone conversations with celebrities, prank calls that are too funny to even try to explain, and just a few other call-in mishaps where they accidentally catch someone guys cheating on their girlfriends and all hell breaks loose on air. the cd is so universal that it doesn't even matter if you've never heard of 93.7 the edge(God rest it soul.)

5.0 out of 5 stars i was suprised, i thought this was going to be a lame album, May 14, 2005
This review is from: Collaborations (Audio CD)
a friend of mine had me listen to it, i thought it was going to be lame when he told me that kj-52 was a christian rapper. and i was like 'hi, i've already heard of d.c. talk'. but i was sooooo impressed by this album, the tracks range from fun dance-beats(revenge of the nerds) to straight up preachin'it(industry) to painful heartfelt struggles(where were you.)to an amazing acapella(47 m.c.'s)to a gutsy and caring message(dear slim)my jaw seriously hit the floor when i heard that track, infact, "dear slim" was the first kj-52 track i ever heard, that's what earned my respect for him. he had the heart to write a song about someone who could easily turn it around and rip him to shreds publicly if he didn't like it. that takes guts.

it's definitley a cd i'd recommend to anyone. he's definitley an artist worth paying attention to.(even though his next album "it's pronounced 5 2" is kinda weak.)

2.0 out of 5 stars it's pronounced "don't rip-off you previous album.", May 14, 2005
i hate to be negative, especially about a very talented artist, but this album just sounded like he copied "collaborations" and just switched a few of the words. like "47 pop stars" it was just lame compared to the acappela "47 m.c.'s" from "collaborations" which was brilliant. there are a few good tracks, but i was dissapointed by the lack of creativity. hopefully K.J. will not try to follow what seemed to be a successful formula when he records his next album. COME ON K.J., I'VE HEARD YOU DO BETTER THAN THIS!

4.0 out of 5 stars it's worth owning, May 14, 2005
if you are into the pop-punk sound and are a christian, you'll love this cd. this cd is very easy to listen to, most songs are intriguing and entertaining. their harmonizing is good and their lyrics are great. there's only one or two tracks that i skip over, mostly cuz they're too silly("i'm lion-o" for example) but i could easily to the rest of it. also, if you're a guitar player, these songs are super easy to figure out.

key tracks: "pressing on", "sadie hawkins dance", "those words are not enough", "what have you been doing lately", and "for the moments i feel faint."

recommended albums: "mmmhmmm", and "the christmas album."

1.0 out of 5 stars don't even bother......., May 13, 2005
This review is from: Now You See Inside (Audio CD)
i bought this cd after hearing the song "right now" and i was severly dissappointed with the rest of the cd. the musicianship is not good and the lyrics are lame. the reason for me writing this reveiw is to deter you from poisioning your ears with crappy power-pop. it's not even worth the penny you'd pay for it and the dollar-fifty shipping and handling.

5.0 out of 5 stars very real, extremely well portrayed, April 16, 2005
This review is from: American History X (DVD)
American History X is a tragic story about the influencing lies of neo-nazism and white supremacey. derrick vineyard is a 20-something young man who has just been released from prison for maliciously killing a black man. his mission through out the entire movie is to show his younger brother the realities behind the lie that he's being fed by the skins that he hangs out with, and to hopefully teach through the mistakes that landed him in jail. the movie is very graphic but an accurate veiw of the neo-nazi way of life. i would recommend this to anyone. the story is powerful, the acting is believable, the cinematography is awesome(color for the present, black and white for the past, lots of symbolism that you have to watch the movie a few times to really understand.) and the message behind the movie is very clear:

"life is too short to be pissed off all the time."-American History X

5.0 out of 5 stars a definite classic of the '90's era, April 14, 2005
This review is from: Angus [VHS] (VHS Tape)
angus is just a great movie all together. it's a good story of how an outcasted fat kid is tormented in school by preppy jerks and slowly starts accepting himself as being different and how the other kids at school realize that being different is normal.

it's very funny the way that angus' awkwardness is portrayed; from him being the only kid at the pep rally in red while everyone else is in blue, dancing with a blow-up doll(it's not as vulgar as it sounds, trust me!) kids running his underwear up the flagpole, and the hideous plum colored tux. this movie also rocks an amazing soundtrack with the goo-goo dolls, weezer, and a great song by green day. check that out too.

5.0 out of 5 stars listen to it. you'll like it., March 10, 2005
This review is from: Ep (Audio CD)
I usually don't like when bands re-invent their songs for live shows, but the versions of "Crutch" and "If You're Gone" are just beautiful on this cd, I saw them preform live before this came out and the e.p. doesn't quite capture the atmosphere of their live shows, which are very upbeat, but this cd offers a unique view of their music and makes this a staple recording to own for any MatchBox Twenty fan.
