Too short, too glib, too much of a re-hash of other people's ideas. Derivative. Got an immediate refund.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just horrible. Tried to get a refund for my dollar, June 6, 2015

Just horrible. Tried to get a refund for my dollar, but couldn't.

Prattles on endlessly and just doesn't get to the point. Terrible dialogue, idiotic characterizations, unrealistic setting. Nothing works here. Avoid this book and anything else by this author. Most of the positive reviews have got to be fake.

2.0 out of 5 stars meh., June 5, 2015
I am not a fan of the style, prose, dialog, characters, or the plot. I just didn't care about any of it. Sorry I don't have anything better to say about Silent Scream. Good luck to the author, though, as I know how difficult it is to write novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent anthology, but should have been sequenced differently., October 2, 2014

Excellent anthology, but should have been sequenced differently.

The very best written stories begin about a third of the way through the book. Note to author: always put your best foot forward.

But beyond that, what a wonderful, fertile imagination inside John F.D. Taff, wow! Great stuff, loved every word.

I highly recommend this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Predictably Irrational is itself predictably irrational., July 8, 2014

The author's grand summary is this: we are sheep, we are unable to overcome the manipulations of those nasty businesses who control us, and therefore we need Big Brother government to come to the rescue.

Has he not done this research in the public sector? If he did, he'd discover that government uses the exact same techniques except at the point of a gun.

This is not a book anyone serious about economics, human nature, psychology, or science should bother reading or recommending.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wanted to love it, instead found evidence after evidence of its falsehood. Got a refund., June 27, 2014

Returned it for a refund.

I wanted to love Heaven is for Real, but instead found evidence after evidence of its falsehood.

Aside from the fact that the book is written in puerile prose, the facts are simply wrong. And when they aren't wrong, they're so implausible as to stretch beyond all credibility.

Is anyone surprised that a PASTOR's son relates these things?

And that the child recites items out of common Bible readings, and not any Aramaic sources, or anything new (or accurate)? For example, the boy tells us that Jesus had the "markers" on his palms. That is simply wrong! Crucified victims were nailed through their WRISTS. So if the kid had said that, I would be more convinced.

Look, I'm a Christian, and I wanted to believe as much as the next person. This book just did not have what I was looking for. The book PROOF OF HEAVEN was a million times better, and chills up and down your spine convincing and enjoyable.

Don't read this book. Go read PROOF OF HEAVEN instead.

Wish I had good things to say about it, but the ear hole is WAY too small.

I don't have large ears, either. Normal ears. They should have put much more thought into the design.

I spent forty bucks on this and it is worthless to me. Anyone want to buy it?

Hated it and returned it for a full refund.

Don't bother with Holly Black books, they're written as if by a 7th grader, and that 7th grader should have gotten an F on this assignment. I can't for the life of me understand how this writer is a bestselling novelist. There is something very wrong with this industry.

I identified more than a dozen literary foibles within the first 10 pages, and I wasn't even trying. Far too much exposition and name introduction packed into a paragraph. POV changes that are jarring, idiotic, inane dialogue, and too much authorial intrusion.

Garbage. Worse than Stephenie Meyer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Naturalism, indulgent description, authorial intrusion and more typos than a spam e-mail, August 24, 2013
This review is from: The Shining (Kindle Edition)
The Shining employs too much naturalism, indulgent description, authorial intrusion and more typos than a spam e-mail. And it is so BORING, good Lord. Who ever said this book was scary?

It would be rejected for publication if written today. And rightly so.
