3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but not that good either, September 7, 2001
This Hair album has some OUTSTANDING highlights ("Manchester England", "Going Down", "Easy To Be Hard") but it has some really TERRIBLE parts too ("Aquarius", "Hair", "My Conviction"). I am deeply in love with both the movie soundtrack and the OBC, and there are "some" songs on here that I think may surpass both versions.
Paul Nicholas has an outstanding voice as Claude but he is not energetic enough for my taste, especially on "I Got Life". He seems to be just singing it, but with no emotion.
I forgot the young man who plays Berger on this album but his "Donna" is mediocore. And "Donna" is my favorite song in the show and it was real disapointment to me to hear the performer's voice crack during the high notes. I think someone else sings "Going Down" (It might be Gerome Ragni from the OBC) , but he is fantastic on that song however.
The Hud and Woof are impressive too.
Don't buy this album, ...

3.0 out of 5 stars Jesus Christ Superstar Karaoke, July 16, 2001
The first CD really isn't that good. The vocals are emotionaless or even strong enough to sing the songs. The second CD is really good however. The orchestrations are pretty well done, not really on Simon Zealotes, but otherwise they are really good. I really wish these 2 cds came to great use, and they had all the songs from the show with just background music. I mean we don't need these vocals (poorly done) when the reason we bought this was to get the Karaoke music - we know the songs already!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best!, March 27, 2001
The best next to the 1996 London Cast with Zubin Varla and Steve Balsamo. Although this soundtrack doesn't have all of the songs (most noticable are "This Jesus Must Die" and "Damned For All Time"), this is still worthy of the price. Glenn Carter's Jesus is pure excellence while Jerome Pardon's Judas is very whiny but convincing and priceless. Frederick Owens as Caiaphas is excellent although all of his major songs are not on this CD. :( Renee Castle is the best Mary Magdalene ever portrayed. Tony Vincent steals the shows though as Simon Zealotes, he is just too good. Buy or don't buy the soundtrack but make sure to get the new movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best horrible horror films ever made, October 1, 2000
This review is from: Camp Blood [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie is so much fun to watch with its poor cuts, mediocore acting, and music that sounds like it was taken from Resident Evil. This is definitley very entertaining and very enjoyable. If you want a horror movie to laugh at, "Camp Blood" is one of your best bets.

Pathetic. Try The Roxy Cast, or The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The Toronto Revue Cast is unlistenable. They never even performed on stage before - they are so-called STUDI0 casts!

Anyway, this movie is excellent and the music is right up there although much music is edited for film transfer.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Musical Of All Time - Yet Not The Best On Film, October 17, 1999
The film is great, but not as good as seeing it live. I've seen this 7 times live, and I've seen this movie many, many times. BUT - the movie deletes many of the show's numbers - atleast 5, which takes away the fun from the soundtrack. "Some Fun Now" is just an embarrassing new rendition of "Ya Never Know" from the show. BUT - atleast the songs they have are performed excellent. Steve Martin does "Dentist!" great, and Levi Stubbs is excellent as Audrey II.
