3.0 out of 5 stars Seriously??, February 25, 2015

I'm a bit let down by this collection, primarily with part 3. The first and second encounter were entertaining and the graphical upgrade makes a big difference. But where is Serious Sam 2? This claims to be a "complete collection" but that is a bold-faced lie. Serious Sam 3 BFE is more of the same, better graphics but that's about itl. There seems to be a whole lot of wandering around involved with this game trying to find the way out. It doesn't help that all of the environments look pretty much the same. Croteam seems to be infatuated with the Egyptian setting. One of the things I loved about SS2 was they finally managed to diversify the environment. And it's bad enough they still use the antiquated system of health packs, but most of the time all you can find is little pills that only give 1 point of health?? Come on. Also BFE is glitchy as hell. Cutscenes often have no audio and there are numerous texture loading issues. If you install the game to your hard drive it seems to help a lot, but if you play off the disc you will be plagued with texture issues. And Sam himself, well he's still just kind of sad. After all these years the croteam guys still don't seem to have a firm understanding of humor. It's just kind of corny. All in all I was expecting more, and not more of the same.

Not my favorite album (that honor is still held by the first album, Bad Luck Ain't no Crime) - but still it is a solid effort. I like these guys a lot. If you are a BBS fan you've probably already got this one. If you have heard about these guys and are thinking about purchasing an album, I'd start with Bad Luck or Little Piece of Dixie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than the previous film, far from perfect., February 24, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I enjoyed this movie a lot better than the previous version which was just another origin story. Why bother? Only two major complaints I had with Amazing Spider Man 2 was the guy playing Harry Osborn - the guy just doesn't have much acting talent at all, other than pouting all the time. The other complaint, the ending. The Rhino fight sequence just felt tacked on - the setup went on way too long to be just a teaser for the next movie. Other than those two gripes, I enjoyed it. Spidey's sense of humor really shines in this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works, but don't overdo it., February 6, 2015

Will clean you out, but don't overdo it. I started out drinking 4 or 5 cups a day, and I can tell you that you will hate yourself if you drink that much. I won't go into ugly details, but trust me, 1 or 2 cups a day is all you wanna do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun game, February 6, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It's basically the same game that is available on smart phones. It's a little more challenging since you use a handheld controller instead of a touch screen. I don't have kinect so I can't comment on the functionality of that. The kids love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very "meat and potatoes" TV, February 6, 2015
I use this model as a gaming monitor with my xbox 360 and it works great for that purpose. This is a very basic, bare bones TV that does not have all the trimmings of more expensive models. So if you're not concerned with "digital natural motion" or automatcially switching the aspect ratio to match the incoming signal and all that other stuff and just want a basic TV or gaming monitor this will work fine & you can't beat the price for a screen this size. I don't care much for the layout and construction of the remote, and the built-in speakers are weak - but I have a seperate sound system so that does not really bother me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Broken, Dumb AI killed it, February 2, 2015
I like a lot of what's going on with this game, but if you are playing single player using the AI teammates you'll find yourself playing the role of babysitter a lot of the time. They aren't very good shots, won't complete any objectives on their own, won't heal themselves if they get shot, and they won't take cover if they come under fire. Unless you issue the "hit the dirt" command they'll just dumbly stand there absorbing bullets knowing you have nothing better to do than backtrack and heal them. They really are complete idiots, I'm sure anyone who's served in the military and plays this game might feel a little angry about how they are being portrayed. It's a shame too because other than having to deal with the complete stupidity of your AI teammates, it really is a cool game. Sadly this level of Artificial (anti) Intellegince is enough to sour the entire experience

4.0 out of 5 stars Good game & more faithful to the book than the movie was., January 29, 2015
I like this game much better than the hack & slash button masher follow up games (The Two Towers & ROTK) released by EA. This is more of a story driven adventure game - very well done. I like that it includes parts from the novel that were not included in the Peter Jackson film, although I don't remember reading about a battle with a dragon mounted ring wraith at the end of the book. I guess they had to have an end of game boss battle. The levels are well done, but you tend to lose health fast so you may die a lot. Thankfully this game has a save-anywhere feature so use it often. The only thing I really disliked was that you cannot invert the x axis on the thumbstick for looking left & right (if you push the stick to the right you will turn left, and vice versa - really wierd and it took some getting used to. Other than that I enjoyed the game. If you are a fan that was disappointed in the changes/omissions in the movie then you will appreciate the effort that was put into this game.

4.0 out of 5 stars The REAL sequel to A Christmas Story., January 7, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: My Summer Story (DVD)
While the direct-to-video "A Christmas Story 2" claims to be the "official sequel to A Christmas Story", this film is the REAL sequel and to me it does feel more like an actual sequel to the famous original. Having Jean Shepherd narrate the film goes a long way in selling it as the true follow-up. They also re-use some of the familiar musical cues from the first one. Though they didn't seem to try to cast someone who looks like Christmas Story's "Ralphie" (completely different hair color and most of the movie the actor isn't even wearing glasses) Kieran Culkin is still a pretty strong actor and he holds his own. Scut Farkus (different actor) is back, although he's now relegated to the status of "toadie" and the new head bully is just... freakish. Charles Grodin does a pretty good job as The Old Man but Darren McGavin is sorely missed. Mary Steenburgen is her usual sweet, beautiful self as the mother. I’m a big fan of the book “In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash” by Jean Shepherd so it was a lot of fun watching some of the other non-Christmas Story tales play out on the screen. We finally get to meet the Bumpasses mentioned in the previous movie, and they’re just as “Redneck” as you might have imagined. The only thing this movie seems to miss is a big “payoff” moment near the end. All in all though it was an enjoyable movie – recommended for fans of the original or anything Jean Shepherd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book - maybe not for kids though, December 23, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Good reading - contains a lot of interesting facts behind making the movie. Just be warned it does contain foul language - including dropping the F-bomb quite a few times - so if you're thinking about buying this for younger kids to read, you might want to reconsider. Unless you just don't care, in which case you might want to invest in a bar of Lifebuoy.
