5.0 out of 5 stars WE CAN REBUILD HIM, February 24, 2015
Note I recieved a PDF press copy from Dynamite directly

When I recieved my PDF copy from Dynamite, I herd there was a comic series. This is that comic series bound in book form.. I read this graphic novel with the same joy I savored the series in the late 70's. The magic the five seasons I spent with Steve, Rudy , Oscar and even Jamie were golden. I was in bionic heaven. The DVDs were priceless memories of an era gone by.

The graphic novel update was okay, I assume a original television continuity version would have done the same thing and made it more confusing by throwing away the Bionic TV movies, which does not happen using this graphic novel.

The characters in this graphic novel are drawn and do look like Lee Majors and Richard Anderson., which helps in this EXTRA SEASON of the show. The art is over the top and not too outlandish.. The story line fits the classic action figure Maskatron into the official Six Million Dollar Man original television continuity.

The only problem with this graphic novel and the comic series ended in a cliffhanger, NO six million dollar man ended in a cliffhanger that wasnt ever finished! The Publisher Dynamite need a short graphic novel to wrap this up this story line.. However .It still doesn't take away from the magic and memories this book gave me

5.0 out of 5 stars Atkins' spenser, November 25, 2014
When a book series creator, in this case Spenser author Robert B Parker, dies... you wonder if a series can survive and continue on. A Number of times, an author tries to inherit the mantle of a character series to fail badly in his attempt to stroke lightening in a bottle. You can think of Jeffrey Deaver and his turn at writing James Bond. Sometime the new author cannot get the same vibe as the original author did.

Ace Atkins has fully taken the literary pallium of the Spenser universe and has finally embraced it with this novel. His first two novels were good, but not great. This new Spenser novel, Cheap Shot, seems a throwback to classic Spenser novels with a nod to the future. The white knight that Spenser is , complete with his code of honor and values that Parker established with such books as Promised Land and The Godwulf Manuscript

This novel transfers with ease to spoken word. The one reason that is Random House's use of the audio talents of actor Joe Mantegna. He is the voice of Spenser in more ways than one. Joe brings an intimate knowledge of the Spenser Universe. He has been narrating Spenser audio books for the last 15 years. A fellow reviewer noted to me that Mantegna , who had played Spenser in a few TV movies of the A & E Network, seems to have an inside track into each of the characters...I think she is right! He gives the listeners an edge by knowing and creating vocal patterns and doing it flawlessly.

In this book, Spenser is hired by a quarterback with an extreme temper problem. Suddenly the QB's son is kidnapped, Spenser enlisted Hawk and Zee to help him find this child.
Like Parker before, Atkins blends the city of Boston as a character within the subplots of the main story.

If you get an Spenser novel of audio this year, make it this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars a view to a KILL, November 23, 2014
This review is from: Kill Me If You Can (Audio CD)
Let me try this formula on for size with you..a male art student finds a bag of diamonds from a dead man in Grand Center Station in New York. He is dating his college art teacher. After he has the diamonds, He takes her on a whirlwind European vacation and reveals his big secret..did I forget he is being followed by one maybe two hit people who work for the Russian mob? It that enough bang for your buck? It is mine! I will say this Kill Me If You Can had my interest and kept it!

Patterson and Karp craft a romantic mystery with a flair for the dramatic. Think the films Charade, To Catch a Thief and No Country for Old Men combined together and you have the prototype for this book. I will say this, there is a few twist in the tale, you never will see coming..and one of the twists will set it up for any future books in the series if they continue with these characters

Jason Culp and Jeff Woodman, the two narrators of this book sometime overblend together vocally. It takes away from the vocal shading and overall characters. However, it should not take away from your listening pleasure. I think this book could have been handled by one narrator. Either narrator is excellent on other audio productions, so don't ask me to chooice which one

This novel (and audio presentation) is lighter than Patterson's recent Alex Cross novel, Cross My Heart (Also on Hachette audio). It is also better crafted than many mysteries these days

4.0 out of 5 stars 1965 Indians, November 16, 2014
Found an old copy on DVD and watched this 50 year old chestnut. It is not as good as THERE THERE WAS NONE from 1939, but a lot better than the Oliver Reed version of Indians. This film is black and white is interesting locked room mystery, loosely based on the classic Christie novel.

An internation cast fill the parts of the Christie classic, led by Hugh O'Brien as Hugh Lombard, Fabian as the singer, Wilfred Hyde-White as the Judge,Denis Prince as the Doctor and Shirley (the Golden Girl from Goldfinger) Eaton. The cast blends together nicely.

It has a mod feel to this 1965 version. However it still work as a film. It does seem dated, but director George Polock knows how to move the cast through their paces , so the audience wont be bored.

If you are a Christie fan, this mod (NOT modern) version may seem like a 1960's throwback, but it works as a mystery...even through some of the actors seem overly woooden and scene chewers like Leo Genn, Daliah Lavi and Eaton, who seem to be TOO wide eyed in the whole movie

On the whole, for 90 minutes, you will be entertained

5.0 out of 5 stars Great ear buds, November 12, 2014
*Soundpeats was generous enough to provide me with a free product in exchange for my honest opinion.

In my career, I listen to many audio book productions, many now in download audio format. The sound quality that these headset gave me was amazing. I could hear every word, every vocal shading ,every char acter change in bold clkearness I enjoyed that it was used with my current IPOD and worked well

I usually find most earbuds fall out of my ears after 30 minutes of listening or uncomfortable in my ears. Sometimes, I have to have those bulk headsets that fit over my ears. However these ear buds fit like a custom shoe for my ears. After six hours of listening these ear buds still stayed in my ears and felt great

Lets recap, works well, Sound quality is great and clear, works with the IPOD..and is very comfortable...WHY are you not getting a pair now?

5.0 out of 5 stars Batman's a Xmas Carol, November 9, 2014
This review is from: Batman: Noel (Kindle Edition)
Crossing Batman with Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol is a stroke of brillance. Lee Bermejo's art and words mesh into an interesting mix of the Batman mythos. The art reminds me slightly of Will Eisner's Spirit with a modern day touch of Alex Ross. This retelling of Dickens with Batman works so great..the perfect December Seasonal Holiday gift

3.0 out of 5 stars recipes with families in mind, October 19, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It is a cookbook for Halloween..Most of the recipes can be gotten online, the authore has posted the links. It would have been a better cookbook if the author included more main course and dishes, which he did not

Most of these recipes are standard fare like pumnpkin seeds with very few pictures or step by step pictorial instructions. It is a cute family cookbook to use with children. If that is what the author wanted he suceed well.

However with only 30 recipes, it felt short and repeating itself

4.0 out of 5 stars A modern day retelling of a classic B rated DC character, September 19, 2014
This book is a retelling of Metamorpho story with a modern day twist. You cannot fault DC for revising this character in a year one book. The retelling of the element man is done well, However the better retelling is the DC SHOWCASE series. The ones in showcase is the vlassic reprinted in Black and white.

Nevertheless, the modern day retelling , which came out before the New 52, was needed. Many saw this character in the DC universe and never knew about him..other than he was in Batman and the Outsiders (which is also available in DC showcase series). It is a great retelling for the DC universe

3.0 out of 5 stars a LIVE action Cartoon, August 30, 2014
This review is from: The Villain (DVD)
Lets be honest, The Villain is a slapstick comedy made up like a western. So if Blazing Saddles was a Looney Toon cartoon, this would be it. So if you were looking for a nonsensical pop corn movie this is it.

I will say it does have an all star cast with Kirk Douglas as the lead role of Cactus Jack, The Villain. Ann Margaret plays Charming Jones. Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Handsome Stranger. Character actors Foster Brooks, Ruth Buzzi, Mel Tillis (YES the country singer), Jack Elam and Paul Lynde round out this cast. Directed by Oscar winner Hal Needham, this cartoonque comedy is full of stunts and sight gags and very thin on plot.

So this movie isnt great filmmaking, it is pure popcorn. It is a LIVE ACTION road runner cartoon set in the west. So just laugh at this film, you know you want to!

5.0 out of 5 stars AN EROTIC DOLL, August 17, 2014
This review is from: Doll (Paperback)
This ADULT graphic nobel about a plastic doll , a life-like jointed sex surrogate, and the men who want her their own reasons. this graphic novel printed in black and and cover issue 1-3 of the Rip Off Press on white paper.

Note this book is insightful ..even 15 years later than its original books hit the comic stores. Guy Colwell's gialog is real. The way his story is written , it could happen today

DOLL is not for children. It is an erotic comic. The true story of Doll is .the message Colwell gives us an amazing story of invention, love , greed and heartache. I wish someone would bring this story back to life in comics
