5.0 out of 5 stars CONTACT VIACOM ABOUT THE PACKAGING, I HAVE ALREADY DONE SO, April 9, 2008
I will not get into detail about the film (rated FIVE STARS), as there are many great reviews here and they all hit it on the spot about how incredible it is. My concern is with the HORRIBLE packaging that Paramount decided to use with the release of this beautifully haunting film. How does this get by the marketing reps? How does a mistake like this get by ANYONE? This release seems rushed and poor and Paramount should invest more time and money in preparing an ultimate edition, an edition that will prove worthy of the money spent by DVD collectors. As mentioned with most other reviews of the packaging, the disc was easily scratched when I tried to take it out and I even bent the sleeve with how careful I was trying to be. I have already contacted Viacom (who owns Paramount) in hopes of having them release the film again with different packaging (and possibly get the film with the new packaging).

5.0 out of 5 stars Their Most Comprehensive and Complete Work to Date, January 1, 2008
This review is from: In Rainbows (Audio CD)
Radiohead has always strived to set themselves apart from the rest of the noise you hear these days. Over the years, they have come very, very far from their first release back in the early 90's and have since revolutionized the way music can be heard. After their Magnus Opus, 1997's OK Computer, their sound took a different route and everyone expected later albums to sound exactly the same or close to it. What the world got was a complete change, almost overnight, with 2000's Kid A and 2001's Amnesiac. During these years, their fanbase was polarized, but the band remained as an example of how far you can push the boundaries of sound and imagination. 2003's Hail to the Thief was a combination of their early work and their years of change. It was, at best, a decent effort from a band that was up to its neck with its record label. With the release of IN RAINBOWS, the band has brought out something different YET AGAIN. they have revolutionized the way fans praise the music and have done away with the pressure of having a record label breathe down their necks. the music sounds as if the band had fun writing the music and it is evident that they sound as if they are indeed IN RAINBOWS. Beautiful, enigmatic, challenging. Radiohead has indeed outdone themselves and have, once and for all, cemented their place in the Pantheon of Rock Legends.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE Definitive Set to Purchase, December 31, 2007
This is home video history in the making. The definitive Blade Runner box-set. No one ever imagined that this film, which virtually made nothing at the box office, would become the most inspirational science-fiction film after its release in 1982. Those who have marveled at its incredible and breathtaking depth will agree that this box-set is A MUST OWN. Every cent invested in the box-set was worth its price. I don't need to say much more because the film HIGHLY speaks for itself, so if you're still deciding on which version to go with, invest your money in this one and I guarantee you will be incredibly satisfied, and then some!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY..., September 19, 2007
This review is from: Neon Bible (Audio CD)
One day before I embark to go see Canada's incredible Arcade Fire in concert, I ask myself: Why rate this album lower than Five Stars? What you get with their sophomore effort is not a sophomore slump at all. You get music that somehow, someway, speaks to you when you close your eyes late at night, when you awaken early in the morning, when you're off doing your own thing in this vast world. A world in which most music nowadays, especially rock music, is full of the same boring stuff that gets recycled over and over. I've read a couple of one to three star reviews here and I will have to disagree with all of them. Yeah, yeah, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but when you're not open minded and can care less about genuine, solid music, you will just not understand a band like the Arcade Fire. This is a different kind of band, a band that will open your mind to music that is rare in these modern times. So close your eyes and be ready to be transported elsewhere and have your breath taken away.

5.0 out of 5 stars On the Road The Way It Was Meant To Be, August 25, 2007
This is it. The definitive version of Kerouac's Magnus Opus. If there was ever a book that captured the fast times and antics of the Beat Generation, it definitely has to be On the Road. The Original Scroll is the definitive version, not only because its uncensored and raw, but because it fulfilled Kerouac's desires to the fullest extent. This version reads like a car that's doing 100 miles per hour in the dark, rain pouring down, hearts racing, and has no stop in sight. If you've read the standard edition, you know the book is divided into four parts with chapters in between. The Original Scroll has NO chapters. The book reads on and on and this really adds to incredible effect of the reading experience. This book was intended to be read in one continuous reading, as Kerouac indeed wrote the book in one continuous moment. Simply put, the book is legend and one has to read this edition to fully appreciate Kerouac's true vision of it. It is, without a doubt, one hell of a ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Book for a Technologically Drowned World, June 30, 2007
The title of the book itself is enough to get any man or child's curiosity running wild. A dangerous book for boys? You bet. Its a kind of innocent danger, if there is such a way of putting it. Nostalgia runs rampant throughout its pages, from subjects ranging from tying knots, building tree houses, to information about famous battles and clever advice for dealing with the fairer sex. Whether you want to surprise someone who's been engulfed by this technological day in age, or want to relive those long summer days, this book is highly reccomended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not for the Faint of Heart, May 3, 2007
This review is from: Lullaby (Paperback)
To be completely honest, it is quite difficult to comprehend Palahniuk novels unless you read them in the chronological order he wrote them in. I find it difficult to understand that many people who have read this novel were so-called "first time" Palahniuk readers. To understand Palahniuk and where he is coming from, you have to begin with Fight Club. This isn't Fight Club though, but ranks up there among his greatest efforts. I can understand how some readers would be come frustated with the style this novel is written in. I myself had trouble understand some portions of the novel, but come on? Aren't books supposed to make you think? You expect to just read a book and not be required to even ponder the least bit? Lullaby will REALLY make you think. And hard too. So if you're not into that sort of deal, then don't bother.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Start To The Greatest Comic Strip of All Time, May 2, 2007
As a child, I only knew the Peanuts existed in the form of cartoons I would watch on TV. As I grew older though, I discovered for myself that those funny little cartoons I had seen actually came from comic strips. I also never knew that Schulz's style of these characters in the early stages of the strip were incredibly different than the standard version of what is now commonly known as Peanuts. These first two books of the first four years of the strip are absolute genius. Even from the beginning, Schulz was an instant phenom. The evolution of the strip and its style is easily visible and so intricately done by Schulz, its just beautiful. Highly recommended if you are to embark, like most of us fans of this treasured strip, on the epic 12 year + journey to collect every strip of Peanuts ever made.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Decent Effort From an Amazing Writer, May 2, 2007
This review is from: Haunted: A Novel (Paperback)
After putting in my two cents for Palahniuk's latest novel, "Rant", I thought it would be best to review his past works as well. Although "Haunted" lived up to its hype about being Palahniuk's most grotesque novel to date, it further solidified his place among the greatest of contemporary writers. The reason I have given this novel four out of the possible five stars is because it really isn't intended for first-time Palahniuk readers. It is comprised of 23 "short stories", mostly preceeded by a short free verse poem. The content itself should not be taken for its pure face value, but rather as a harsh and direct criticism on Palahniuk's part for "the battle over credibility", as Palahniuk himself said. Not intended for everyone, but it surely is a recommended read for the hardcore Palahniuk junkie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Palahniuk's Best To Date, May 1, 2007
After reading Chuck Palahniuk's "Rant", I have to put it up there as his most ambitious work to date. I was a bit disappointed with his last novel, Haunted, but it looks as though Palahniuk was able to get his act together this time around. There are many critics out there who will indeed bash Palahniuk for being "too eccentric" of a writer, but let it be known that some of the greatest satrists have also come under heavy criticism at one point in their lives. Rant's style will come as difficult for some to fully grasp at first, but as the novel progresses, the reader will soon learn to adapt to its "Oral History" narrative, part of which makes the novel so compelling. A thrill of a read and one not apt for close-minded, satire hating individuals.
