1.0 out of 5 stars 50th Anniversary Edition, an Unforgivable Missed Opportunity, November 20, 2014
2014 is a noteworthy year for this, the reigning king of Christmas specials - not only is it the 50th Anniversary for Rudolph but also the unfortunate passing of its creator, Arthur Rankin. As such, one would think this golden year would produce a no-holds-barred loving tribute to commemorate both events. But those awful terrible cheapskates at Dreamworks have gone the same penny-pinching route as their predecessors, Classic Media. Unless you find the lure of this new cover too irresistible to withstand, there really is NO reason to pick up this wasted opportunity. So many mouth watering possibilities were at their disposal - the original end credits IN COLOR, various cuts of the film, excised songs, an introduction by Arthur Rankin himself, original TV promos, original GE bumper commercials featuring the Animagic characters hoisting GE products and so much more - but guess how many of these made it to this "Golden Anniversary Bluray"? None!!!! .... Instead, we get a few awful cheap extras that appeal to absolutely no one AND the same remaster that was out on the last Bluray release, complete with a skip in "Silver and Gold" - one that was fixed for the DVD release over a decade ago! Completely unforgivable!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds great * Lasts Long * Very Inexpensive * Pick Your Favorite Color, August 13, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These earphones sound great! They are very inexpensive! And they last a long time. The pair I have now just finally started to get cranky in one ear after a year and 4 months of HEAVY gym use. I tied these things around my mp3 player, stored them in my gym bag, dropped weights on the wires, causing them to yank violently out of my ears and they withstood all that abuse! That is WAY more than I've gotten from ANY similarly priced set of earbuds including the set that came with my mp3 player - and they sound a great deal better too - Good thumping bass, nice clear treble etc... Not only that but you can pick your favorite color from the rainbow of choices! Seriously one of the best deals out there.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sophomore Slump?, August 8, 2014
Am I the only one who find this selection of films kinda "Mehhhh"?? - While Volume 1 had a mouth-watering selection of classic VP horror flicks - this volume seems to be a lot of subpar choices and comedic filler even though many of the great offerings previously available on the "Midnite Movies" DVD series are still unreleased on BR and others like "Diary Of A Madman" have only been released on DVD-R.

5.0 out of 5 stars BLONDIE remain unclassifiable, surprising and full of frothy, fizzy, effervescent pop!, May 13, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Those always unpredictable punksters are at it again. After spending most of their post-1999 career cementing the fact that they are indeed a rock and roll band with pretty much rock and roll albums (complete with their trademark forays into every other genre imaginable), BLONDIE return with a full fledged pop/dance album! Basically spitting on those who view anything less than rock as uncool... And seriously what could be more punk than that?

In one of their most cohesive collections since Parallel Lines, BLONDIE trade in their world tracks, and rock anthems for an energetic, fun, catchy collection of songs that not only sound great but also fit in quite well with their back catalogue. All you "Call Me/Tide is High/Heart of Glass/Atomic" fans who felt neglected by their previous 3 albums .... This one's especially for you! ... Debbie Harry, who is single handedly changing what it means to be 68 years old, purrs, coos and woos her way through the tracks, sounding as icy cool as ever and proving there's no need to fade away and radiate just because you're well into your 7th decade.

The "redux" versions of the classics? No updates could possibly hold a snowballs' chance in Hawaii against the power, energy and nostalgia that the originals carry - Just think of those as a bonus! Concentrate instead on those new fizzy pop delicacies that BLONDIE are well known for. The digital release contains 3 extra tracks that rival anything on the album, especially the sumptuous outer-spacey ballad "Prism"...so make sure you get those somehow, if you pick up the physical CD.

1.0 out of 5 stars GREAT MOVIE SHODDILY TRANSFERRED TO DVD IN "LETTERBOX", March 23, 2014
This review is from: Esther And The King (DVD)
For those of you who don't know what letterboxed means - it is a square full-screen image that has black bars on the top and the bottom...this was the way we watched movies a decade ago before widescreen TV's became the norm. Well, Fox Cinema Archives has apparently decided to go "back in time" not only with the release of this great 1960 sword and sandal flick but with a letterbox presentation which means you'll have to "zoom in" on your TV reducing the quality greatly (from the already sketchy quality contained in this transfer). "Esther and the King" has been released in Germany in a gorgeous anamorphic widescreen DVD with English audio! Don't waste your money on this slap dash for cash effort from Fox!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars CROPPED VHS-QUALITY FULL SCREEN RELEASE OF A GLORIOUS WIDESCREEN EPIC!, March 23, 2014
This review is from: Sodom And Gomorrah (DVD)
How disgraceful, that after years of waiting for this sword and sandal Biblical epic to finally hit the digital spectrum - it is sloppily slapped onto a disc using the same fuzzy cropped transfer created for VHS tape 2 decades ago!!!! This is unacceptable and Fox should be ashamed of themselves for trying to shovel this $1-DVD garbage onto us with a "collector's edition" $20 price-tag.
"Sodom and Gomorrah" was released onto DVD in both Germany and Portugal and even Korea in widescreen with English audio!! Don't give your money to Fox!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars No more harrow involved in watching "Dungeon Of Harrow", January 15, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Dungeon Of Harrow - a giant jewel in the crown of Schlock B-Movie Horror - is finally available in a beautiful anamorphic widescreen print courtesy of the fine folks over at Vinegar Syndrome. Some people dislike this film because of its teeny tiny budget...however, I think it is a true merit to Pat Boyette's skills that he was able to produce a flick which has a similar tone to the Corman Poe movies but with a greater coolness and scare factor, made at a tiny fraction of the cost of those! An ominous tone, dismal atmosphere, creative writing and inspired performances - as well as a few very creepy scenes - have carried this bargain basement production into the 21st Century when so many others have been forgotten. DOH is concrete proof that you don't need a big budget to tell a good story. Anyone who has seen this film in any other DVD release has had to suffer with a print that looks and sounds like it was under water for a few decades - with abysmal picture, muffled sound, and color that fades in and (mostly) out! Here we have that same film in a 16x9 aspect ratio, colors that pop off the screen, clear sound AND a tiny scene that has been cut from EVERY other release so far!!! "Death By Invitation" is the other picture in this combo. I'm not a huge fan of that one but it looks better than ever before as well. Again, Kudos to Vinegar Syndrome for giving Dungeon Of Harrow, a classic that was oft-repeated at drive-ins and on "Chiller Theater" TV-Movies, the TLC it so deserved.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Whole LOT of BLOOD for your Buck!!!, January 6, 2014
No, most of these aren't pristine prints, and yes, you can get many in better looking single-feature special editions. But unless you are a classic horror movie junkie like me, then you aren't going to want to spend a couple K's buying them all. And a little fuzz over some of these "classics" is a good thing anyway. Here you get an instant collection of a very good overview of the entire horror genre from the silent age to the cheesy 80's. Classic Monsters, Euro Gothic Horrors, 70's Satanic Sleeze-fests, Slashers, Zombies, Italian Zombies... Many you've seen or heard of (Night Of The Living Dead, Carnival Of Souls, House On Haunted Hill) many you haven't heard of but should see (Nightmare Castle, Blancheville Monster, Satan's Slave) and a few you may wish you never watched. At the sugg retail price, that's 50 cents a pop. If you've yet to get acquainted with the legends that pop up in this set, it's time you did. Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Peter Cushing Christopher Lee, Vincent Price, John Carradine, Barbara Steele, Paul Naschy and so many other high priests and priestesses of terror. If you even have a passing interest in old B-Horror - pick it up!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yoko's Haunting Death Album, September 30, 2013
While waiting for the "Death Train", Yoko opens up her heart and mind, as she always has, and shares some wonderful advice and inspirational thoughts. All of the songs have a theme of aging, leaving, and finding true beauty in an youth-obsessed society. Listening to this album from start to finish really is something. I felt like I went on a weekend retreat. If you are feeling weighed down by the stress of our concrete society - pop in this hauntingly beautiful collection of songs and reacquaint yourself with the inner beauty - in the Earth and yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Live BLONDIE DVD, September 5, 2013
This review is from: Blondie (DVD)
There are lots of BLONDIE DVD's out there - and way more choices if you just want to casually watch clips online. But this one is my favorite that's been released on DVD. It captures BLONDIE right smack in the middle of their peak! Debbie looks and sounds fanfukkintastic!!! This was made from the "Eat To The Beat" era so you get 5 tracks from that album (Dreaming, Slow Motion, Shayla, Union City Blue, Atomic) and 5 from Parallel Lines (Picture This, Pretty Baby, Heart Of Glass, Hanging On The Telephone, Sunday Girl). "One Way Or Another" is surely missed but I believe Debs was not to keen on performing this song back then for whatever reason. This DVD was quickly pulled from shelves shortly after it came out, so there must have been some sort of copyright issue.
