3.0 out of 5 stars When The Predator Becomes The Prey..., March 5, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Out of Reach (DVD)
"Out Of Reach" was a decent Steven Seagal effort. The plot was: William Lansing's pen pal gets kidnapped by an illegal human trafficking ring. Matt Schulze a.k.a "Chupa" from "Blade II" plays the very creepy villain Faisal. Also, in this film was Robbie Gee a.k.a "Kahn" from "Underworld".

The sword fight finale between Lansing and Faisal was short, but sweet. This scene was reminiscent of "Marked For Death" when Seagal fights the second & final "Screwface" at the end. Ahh nostalgia ...

My favorite part is right before the sword fight when Seagal says "This my favorite moment in life" and Faisal goes "what's that?" then Seagal says "When the predator becomes the prey."

Seagal deserves credit for tackling a real life issue in the world. Unfortunately, human trafficking takes place today. Seagal did this film 5 years before Liam Neeson's "Taken".

The voice dubbing that people criticize is only obvious in 3 scenes. The 3 voice-overs don't take anything away from the film. The voice dubbing was not as diabolical as "Attack Force" or "A Dangerous Man". The dubbing was done when the girl was reading the letter and when Seagal is thinking on the computer. The only obvious one was during the shoot out at the brothel. Steven Seagal voiced the majority of the lines himself (probably 90%).

The shoot out at the brothel was fan-F'n-tastic. Seagal was shooting at Robbie Gee and his cronies. Seagal turned that place into the "Bordello of Blood" better than "Tales From The Crypt"!!!

Overall, I give this movie 3 out of 5 stars. You have to admire the noble task that William Lansing embarked on. There is right and wrong in the world. Lansing was a hero. Seagal kills the villain Faisal with a "Samurai Showdown" move.

5.0 out of 5 stars New and improved Walking Tall !!!, March 1, 2010

This review is from: Walking Tall (DVD)
This DVD is leaps and bounds over the previous Rhino release. The picture is very clean and clear. This widescreen version looks great on my HDTV. This Paramount release is a high quality DVD. There are no extra features, but I can't complain because the picture looks so good!

Walking Tall starring Joe Don Baker is a classic!!! They don't make movies like this anymore! Buford never backs down and he never stops fighting crime!!!

The villains stab him and shoot him twice, but he refuses to die.

With some help from a woman at the "Lucky Spot" (who likes marines and ex-marines) Buford stops curruption and brings justice to his community.

Buford is an honest man and he is an example that some men cannot be bought. He stands up for what it right.

Buford stops wrestling because he was tired of being controlled. He didn't like the rules and people telling him when to win or lose. He returns home to find that life is similar to wrestling because of the currupt sheriff and judge who manipulate the law.

Buford gets even with the sheriff and judge! I always laugh when Buford gives the judge a new office!!! ha ha lol at the judge!!

This movie is a must have for all action fans!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Kristin Kreuk + Moon Bloodgood !!!, March 1, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Streetfighter the Legend of Chun-Li was a decent effort. The people who say that it is bad should go and watch the Streetfighter with Jean Claude Van Damme!!!

The Blu-ray quality is excellent. I don't know how any straight man can say that this was a bad movie. HELLO!!! Kristin Kreuk + Moon Bloodgood !!! They are some nice eye candy!!

The fights scenes were alright. The first fight when Chun-Li's dad fights Bison's men was very cool. Also, the street fight in the alley when Chun-Li beat up the thugs.

BOTTOM LINE is that Kristin Kreuk worked extremely hard to train for this film !!! She did a ton of martial arts and gymnastics.

For the people who complain about Chris Klein ... guess what I'm going to tell you?

Don't pay attention to him and just look at Moon Bloodgood like I do!!!

I would recommend this film to Kristin Kreuk fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars XDE = Near HD !!!, February 25, 2010
I bought my XDE back in August 2009. It has worked fine up until a few days ago. Yes, I experienced some of the problems that others have described on this site (picture break-up, green squares or whatever). THE XDE PLAYER IS NOT BROKEN!!! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS USE A DVD LENS CLEANER!!! All these people came on Amazon and wrote negative reviews about this AMAZING DVD player for no reason.

Yes, I used a DVD Lens Cleaner and GUESS WHAT? ... The XDE worked & went back to normal!!!

To anyone considering buying an XDE: Don't listen to the ignorant people who gave a negative rating to the XDE.

It makes new movies look great! I watched my "Smokin Aces" DVD at 1080p and it was very close to HD (I also have a Blu-ray player). Most movies I watch at 720p.

I would recommend this to anyone who loves their DVDs. Let's face it, there are a lot of DVDs that aren't available on Blu-ray yet (& some may never ever go to BD).

The 3 Xtended Detail Enchancements are good. I only use the contrast for dark movies. The sharp feature will make old movies look worse. The color enhancement is okay, it really does make the colors look better, but I rarely use it.

The only thing missing from the XDE is a digital noise reduction feature. Other than that, this is a four star DVD player!!!!

I highly recommend the Toshiba XDE!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars 12 Rounds of Die Hard 3, January 2, 2010
This review is from: 12 Rounds (Extreme Cut) (DVD)
"12 Rounds" starring John Cena is a blatent copy of "Die Hard With A Vengeance". The terrorist in "12 Rounds" said that the hotel man Willie was at the "wrong place at the wrong time" (a reference to the DIE HARD series). I recommend that action fans watch Die Hard 3 instead of this because Bruce Willis' acting skills are 100 times better than John Cena.

The only difference between Die Hard 3 & "12 Rounds" is that in 12 Rounds, The hero kills the terrorist's girlfriend (in Die Hard 3 - the hero killed the terrorist's brother).

John McClane's wife/x-wife is named Holly

John Cena's girlfriend/wife is named Molly

Also, if you have seen Die Hard 4, when the FBI agent tells Bowman "It's above your pay grade" ... In "12 Rounds" (in the hotel lobby) the black FBI agent tells the other one "don't be a hero; it's not in your pay grade".

The climax or finale of "12 Rounds" is a combination of bites from DIE HARD & DIE HARD 3. Think about it ...

Danny Fisher - "It's not about revenge, it's about money" which is the same thing that Hans' brother Simon does. He distracts everyone into thinking that he wants revenge, when in reality he has planned a major heist to steal gold.

In "12 Rounds" - after the trolly crashes, they turn the power off in the area - which allows the terrorist to attempt his robbery (DIE HARD 1).

2 stars for "12 Rounds" a.k.a. Die Hard 3 remake.

Watch John McClane, not John Cena.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Christmas Movie!!!, December 24, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Snowglobe (DVD)
I <3 Snowglobe!!! This is a wonderful abc family film for Xmas (& the rest of the year!!!). Christina Milian is so adorable and beautiful in this movie!!! The film takes place in Brooklyn,NY. The story is about a magic snowglobe and how Angela transports back & forth there. Inside the snowglobe it is the perfect Christmas! At first Angela loves the snowglobe village, but be careful what you wish for! Eventually, Angela comes to realize that nothing is perfect & she accepts her family just the way they are. At the end of the day, family is the most important thing in life. Who eats goose anyway? I'd take Lasagna anyday! lol

The interview with the cast was a nice feature because we get to see more of Christina Milian!!! The thing that made this movie cute was Xtina Milian!!! She is adorable talking with a Brooklyn accent (she was channeling Rosie Perez!) lol. If I had to be trapped in a snowglobe, I wouldn't mind it if Christina Milian was there as well!!! There are some cool Christmas songs in the movie too!!! There's a Britney Spears Xmas song and a Spice Girls Xmas song!! I recommend this movie to everyone who loves Christmas!!!

Britney Spears "My Only Wish (This Year)"

Spice Girls "Sleigh Ride"

Christina Milian won the 2008 Imagen Award for Snowglobe in the TV Actress category.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bring It On: Cinco es Fuego!!!, December 17, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Who said that Bring It On: Fight to the Finish is "nothing to get excited about"? ... CHRISTINA MILIAN!!! She is so HOT!!! This "Bring It On" was pretty good. There were a lot of racial comments or race jokes aimed toward Lina and her friends which were unnecessary (this makes you dislike Avery and her cronies even more!!!). I don't know how anyone can cheer for Avery. Avery and her Jaguar friends are worse than "The Plastics" from "Mean Girls".

Back to BIO 5, I agree with one of the other comments because there were a lot of stereotypes or overexagerrated portrayals of latinos & latinas (Gloria's boyfriend was the most annoying!!). The movie was good though (not just because of Xtina Milian!!!). Well ... come to think of it ...
I only watched this movie because of Christina Milian!!! I <3 her in "Snow Globe", "Man of the House", and "Love Don't Cost a Thing".

The original "Bring It On" is the best one. I would say that "Bring It On: FTTF" is the second best!!

Christina Milian delivers the star power. This movie was the third time that she played a cheerleader! 1) Love Don't Cost a Thing, 2) Man of the House, 3) BIO:FTTF. So, she knows how to play a cheerleader!!!

Okay here is a ***Summary*** (without spoiling it).

Lina has to move from her East LA neighborhood to Malibu because her mother got engaged to a very rich man. She has to leave her two best friends behind and she struggles to fit in at her new school. The villain Avery is captain of the All-Star cheerleader squad "The Jaguars" (who pratice elsewhere because they are not the official school cheerleaders). The school's cheerleading team "The Sea Lions" really stink and Lina (Xtina M) has to join them. She is elected captain and she has to try to turn The Sea Lions into Winners. ***This part was similar to "Bring It On Again" (worst BIO Movie!!), but it was done better here*** The asian girl on The Sealions is kind of cute and funny.

So it is up to Lina and her crew to take on the evil Avery (who is also a SNITCH) and the Jaguars.

You will enjoy this movie if you don't take is so serious. This is a great film about friendship and overcoming obstacles in your way.

**THE SOUNDTRACK** is also nice. The other Bring It On movies (2,3, & 4) had no soundtrack. The only 2 with soundtracks are the Original "Bring It On" and part 5

*~ BONUS FEATURES~* On this DVD were great! I loved Christina Milian's Video Diary

I still remember back in 2000, when my highschool friends and I went to the theater to go see "Bring It On". Great high school memory (which is why I wrote this review).

I am glad to see that there is another entertaining "Bring It On" movie!!!

The Bring It On series has survived a long time!!! I was in high school for the original (2000) and now I am in graduate school for "Fight to the Finish" (2009).

Christina Milian has brought the "Bring It On" series back to life!!!

Who knows? We could see "Bring It On 6" soon & then part 7!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Attack FARCE, December 4, 2009
This review is from: Attack Force (DVD)

I'm a Steven Seagal fan, but this movie is so pathetic and sad!!! Absolutely no action at all!!! Seagal's lines are dubbed which stinks and the fight scenes are in slow motion. Avoid this Seagal movie like the plague!!! The only good thing in the film is the hot chick who kills people. Even when the killers murder people - the action is slowed down which means that it did not take place at all because we never actually see anyone get cut up!

The acting is terrible which is why Attack Farce is a complete joke! This film is more like a comedy man! I always laugh when I hear someone else dubbing Seagal's lines!!! lol. It is always halarious to hear different people do Seagal's lines & the people sound absolutely nothing like him!!!

This movie is a complete waste of time. I was fast forwarding most of the time. The final "fight" scene is so weak and lame.

Avoid this Seagal disaster and check out his better films such as: The Keeper, Out Of Reach, Kill Switch, Urban Justice, and Pistol Whipped.

4.0 out of 5 stars ****This one is a KEEPER!!! ****, December 1, 2009
This review is from: The Keeper (DVD)
This Steven Seagal movie is excellent!!! A lot of action. There are plenty of gunfights and hand-to-hand combat. Seagal has still got it man!!! Some critics will try to bash this film, but this is one of his best direct to video films ever.

Like some other people have said, "The Keeper" has a "Man On Fire" kind of feel to it. Let's be honest, MOF is better, but Seagal is a true action star unlike Denzel.

My advice to all Seagal fans (& action movie fans) is to check out "The Keeper". Seagal does his own lines (no dubbing!), and he does the majority of the hand-to-hand fight sequences.

***Seagal Fight Scenes in "The Keeper"***

1) 2 bad guys are harassing the cousin of Rolland's limo driver. Seagal beats up the 2 guys & they go away.

2) At the club. A guy tries to hit on Nikita and Rolland kicks his @$$, bends his arm, & repeatedly slams his face on the counter.

3) Gunfight & knife work - When Nikita gets kidnapped & Seagal tries to stop it, but can't (cool car chase scene).

4) Rolland aka Seagal goes after Mason (boxer). Rolland snaps the watchman's neck and he shoots up Mason's two big bodyguards. Mason b!tches up.

5) Shoot-out in the parking-lot/ fight in the restaurant. Rolland vs. Cross' henchman (hand-to-hand combat). Seagal wins.

6) Final showdown @ villain Cross' Ranch - Seagal in stealth mode/ Rambo mode with knife. Rolland uses the high caliber sniper rifle & kills Cross' henchmen, then he rescues Nikita. He shoots 2 goons & then fights Cross' right hand man. The Final Fight is hand-to-hand combat. Seagal slams him through the glass table, then Seagal gives him "The Five Fingers of Death". Seagal saves the day once again!!!

The movie then shows a fire burning & fades away (Man On Fire!!!).

Steven Seagal kicks @$$!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Three stars for Sung Hi Lee!!!, August 23, 2009
"The Art Of War III: Retribution" was a decent movie. Fans of the first AOW & pt2 should check it out!!! Treach is no Snipes, but he does an okay job as Neil Shaw. He does good when it comes to the action scenes, but he could work on his dialouge some more. I gave AOW3 three stars because of Sung Hi Lee. She is really hot in Playboy!!! The beginning of the movie was cool when Neil Shaw stopped the terrorist.

Most people are knockin this movie & my suggestion to them is to watch it again and don't be so critical of every little detail.

The plot of the movie was interesting. North Korea is on a lot of people's minds. The real life clips of the politicans was a nice touch. This movie reminds me of "Behind Enemy Lines II: Axis Of Evil", perhaps because they both share the plot of a North Korean threat.

They shouldn't have called Treach "Neil Shaw" because that was Snipes. They should have gave him another name. Other than that, Treach does a good job of kicking @$$ in this movie & Sung Hi Lee is hot!!!
