5.0 out of 5 stars Ethereal photos, November 4, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Phillipe Glade, the author of this book, has put together a splendid collection of photos going back to about 1997. The photos evoke the spirit and feeling of Burning Man. It's a far cry from actually being at Burning Man, but the photos do it justice and the commentary is both interesting and informative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource and reference book, February 25, 2012

The reproductions of the art are very high quality and the text well written. A very comprehensive reference work. I read this in conjunction with the Pulitzer Prize winning bio of de Kooning ("An American Master") by Mark Stevens and Annalyn Swan to better understand and literally see what these authors were writing about. I recommend this art book in any event.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good gift for a gearhead, May 31, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I gave this book to my son who is 24, an engineering grad from a good school, and a guy who is totally into cars and motorcycles -- driving them, racing them, and, of course, fixing them. He said he'd read about this book on the NY Times Review and meant to buy it, but hadn't gotten around to it yet (he's too busy working and fixing up his vintage BMW M3). However, as soon as I saw this book on Amazon, I thought he'd enjoy it and got it for him as a gift out of the blue. His eyes lighted up when he saw the cover and he said, "Oh yeah, this is it! I really want to check this out. It looks very philosophical and practical at the same time." Other than that, you'd have to ask him.
