1.0 out of 5 stars This Blu-ray looks more like VHS., November 20, 2014
I was hoping for reasonable picture quality improvement over my DVD copy. Nope ... looks awful for a Blu-ray. Plus the DTS soundtrack buries the dialogue. And NO special features. Shame because I saw this movie in the theater back in the day and would love to relive the magic. Pass on this edition and hope for a full restoration at some point in the future ... if a decent print still exists.

3.0 out of 5 stars Blu-ray picture quality not much better than DVD edition, November 19, 2014
I own the DVD of this movie, and bought the Blu-ray hoping for better picture quality. The improvement is barely noticeable, so if you have the DVD, don't bother upgrading. The DVD also has a special feature that the Blu-ray does not (a live TV production of Casino Royale), but the making-of documentary on the Blu-ray is longer and more interesting. As far as the film itself goes, I bought it as a nostalgic time capsule of the 1960s (used to watch it on TV growing up). There are funny parts, but it's not a great movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Playing God: Definite improvement over DVD release, December 15, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm not a Color of Night fan but a BIG Playing God fan. I bought this on sale for $5 because my DVD copy isn't optimized for 16:9 HDTVs. The picture quality of this Blu-ray release is a definite improvement over the DVD release ... you get the full 16:9 frame (instead of a black border around it) and crisper details and better contrast. Sadly this film flew under the radar, so this may be the best transfer treatment it will get.

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING: Blu-ray no better picture quality than DVD!, December 16, 2011
I actually like this film and have the DVD. I bought the Blu-ray hoping for a nice, high-res transfer, but I compared them side by side and there is NO improvement in picture quality over the DVD! Don't waste your money buying this title on Blu-ray. What a rip!

2.0 out of 5 stars Blu-ray is very, very grainy, March 27, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you buy the Blu-ray of 2010 hoping for a stunning transfer, you will be disappointed. The image is very grainy most of the time ... you could grate cheese on the image quality. And the special effects look awful in this tranfer ... you can see stars through Helen Mirren's head and big boxes around the spacewalk characters. A few of the closeups will give you Blu-ray quality, but for the most part it looks like a not-so-great DVD. Buyer beware.

1.0 out of 5 stars Engliah subtitles missing!!!, December 18, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This Best Motoring title is missing the English subtitles (no English voice-over either) when the Japanese drivers/technicians are speaking, which makes 80% of the dialogue unable to be understood, unless you know Japanese. The general narration is in English, but this does not include the on-screen cast. Best Motoring fans will know that the drivers' conversations are the best part of these videos. I had better luck with the Factory Fighters title, which included subtitles. Reported the problem to Amazon and am awaiting a resolution.
