A plot with promise + an admirable heroine. The chemistry between our heroine and hero was not scorching. I enjoy a book with suggestion. (It doesn't have to be x-rated to win my approval.) I liked their interactions within the earliest parts of the book. The final conflict lacked luster for me.

Witch for Hire is my first experience with N.E. Conneely. I am pleased with the work. The setting is similar to our own reality that it isn't distracting. As a previous Atlanta resident, I enjoyed the locations. The supporting characters are interesting. The book is a bit of a good first date. Plenty of promise and hints of events that may unfold. The main character is intriguing. You know the truth of her conception and "clan less" upbringing will be a doozy. However, the reader is teased with snippets of the story. There is plenty of action to keep a reader happy. I will read the next book in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sister Dedication, June 16, 2014

James Marabeth is a talented writer. I enjoy the cadence and style of his novels. He creates inspired dastardly deeds. His villains are rich with character. This bunch of werewolves are seriously twisted. The sisters are well written, so that they remain worthy of rooting for. They are quirky, imperfect, and devoted to each other. (Marabeth avoids my pet peeve - I hate it when the bad guys are soooooo much cooler than the good guys! ) Descriptions are enough to get the point across. However, violence is not so deeply described that it is stomach turning.

4.0 out of 5 stars great series, June 3, 2014

It is fantastic to find a supporting cast as strong as those in the Tess Schafer-medium series. It was no surprise to find Kade's adventure entertaining. The pets, Dennis (cat) and Alex (dog), steal the show. Some loose strings from previous mysteries are explained. While, more intrigue is promised. I'm looking forward to the next installment in the series. Note on the series - I was disarmed in the earliest books that Tess' spirituality and faith were discussed. However, it was not offensive. Power in faith, rather than doctrine, is broached (at times that make sense in the story line.)

The female lead is imperfect, but not horribly broken. She is written in a manner that encourages readers to laugh and sigh with her. It is easy to root for her. No steamy sex scenes. However, there is sexual tension between Ryan and Pey. An interesting supporting cast that I hope to read more of. Ryan's sister is quirky and love able. A promising start to a series.

Sweet, but not overly sappy. An enjoyable read. Perfect book for "by the pool". No need to repeat the book's jacket description. My favorite twist on a fairy tale to date. It's definitely a fairy tale with trust between the couple built very quickly. Supporting cast's reaction is unrealistic, as well. Suspend reality and enjoy.

This review is from: Checking Inn (Kindle Edition)
I enjoyed the pace of Checking Inn. The characters are quirky. Relationships are endearing. Whole murder is a portion of the plot, there is minimal gore... Just enough detail to mentally compose an image in your mind of the inn and guests. If you want gruesome details, violence, and steamy one night stands - move along. If you want humor mixed with betrayal, purchase immediately.

As a fan of urban fantasy, I am excited to see something new. This first in series is not a regurgitated plot. The characters are richly written. The plot twist is worthy of "Dallas" the night time soap opera.

The stories are well written. As a whole, it was okay.... Just okay, for me. The exception was book one of the Moore series.

The Moore trilogy is a roller coaster. I really enjoyed book one. Book two disappointed me. Book three returned with meaning and present tense writing to move the plot into the future. I am pleased to see potential for a spin off, or two, because the supporting cast steals the show.
