5.0 out of 5 stars Horowitz Explodes Another Left-Wing Myth, April 2, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
No one labors more diligently, more intelligently, more courageously, or more effectively to preserve the essential integrity of America than David Horowitz - a true American patriot. In the New Leviathan, he explodes another left-wing myth, i.e. that the Republicans are the money Party. In this invaluable - indeed, indispensable - read, he demonstrates that the overwhelming amount of money being funneled into politics is being made available - directly and indirectly - to left-wing causes.
In this wonderful book, Horowitz (with the help of his colleague, Jacob Laskin) calls upon both his knowledge of human nature and his extensive familiarity with the manner in which the left goes about the business of bringing America down to shine a bright light into one of the most important, if not the most important, means by which they do it - their funding sources.
Horowitz is, quite simply, the best at what he does - expose left-wing treachery - and he does it brilliantly (and in a most readable manner). There is no American that I respect more than David Horowitz, and, while everything that he writes is necessary reading (and, thankfully, he writes a great deal), the New Leviathan is an important, eye-opening contribution to setting the record straight on a critical subject, i.e. SHOW ME THE MONEY!!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Existential Wake Up Call, March 1, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
To say that this booklet is a "must read" is to dramatically understate its importance. It is much more than just a "read" - it is a wake up call. A very alarming wake up call!! A wake up call to whom? To Western Civilization. Canada is our next door neighbor, and, until recently, shared our fundamental values, the most fundamental of which is the right to freedom of speech. This is the story of just how fragile that very precious freedom is, or, for that matter, all of our freedoms, i.e. freedom in general. Canada derives the essentials of their culture from the same place we here in the U.S. do - Great Britain, the source of our common law. Canada's "human rights" (or, more aptly put, human wrongs) Commissions are little more than kangaroo courts (and, here I'm being generous) that trample over the innocent, to right nonexistent wrongs, all toward the end of reducing Canada to a banana republic. And this is not said to attack Canada; it is noted to alert America as to what lies ahead if we do not learn the lesson that Canada offers up.
This lesson is already clear from Europe's disintegration. In England, there are Sharia courts and lawless Islamist thugs who terrorize the innocent (the recent public beheading of a British soldier being only an extreme and highly publicized case). If we don't take a hard look at what's happening in our own country, Canada's self destructive path will be our own.
This booklet is not merely an exercise in literature - it is an act of profound courage. Why? Because to speak the truth in Canada these days is a hazardous undertaking. Read this booklet and do whatever you can to make sure that the same fate does not befall us!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Truth, December 5, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I could blather on here about how significant this book is, but I would be wasting your time and mine. This book is "the Truth," for any one who is concerned with that precious commodity - a commodity that is under threat today. Its title tells you all that you need to know about the Israeli-Palestinian reality; its contents admirably flesh out that point. It is a scholarly, well written, complete and correct exposition of the problem. I wholeheartedly recommend it to any one who is really interested in the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Barbarians Are Inside The Gates, November 11, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you received a message that someone was coming to your home to either subjugate or slaughter you and your family, you would, no doubt, pay attention - at the very least, you would not, if you were at all rational, be dismissive of such a message. Infiltration is such a message, and it is an engrossing read.
Sperry, in a very scholarly, yet exceptionally readable, manner lays out - chapter and verse - how radical(?) Islam is going about doing just that. In addition, and more disturbing still, is that he demonstrates how our government is not only doing very little - if anything - to interfere with that effort, but, in the interest of political correctness (or outright collaboration, so blatant are some of the Brotherhood's successful efforts to penetrate the American host body), is lending its support to those efforts.
Infiltration is an incredible - and very disturbing - wake up call. Sperry is a 21st century Paul Revere. In an eminently readable and scholarly manner, he informs us that the barbarians are not at the gates; they are inside, and our government, with our assistance (through our ignorance) has invited them in. Sperry is more than just an author, scholar, and patriot; he is a wake up call to a slumbering America, and Infiltration is an important book that you will find difficult to put down once you pick it up. And I urge you to pick it up.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book On The Real Nature of Islam That You Will Find, October 12, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Davis's book is a delight to read; it is the neatest combination of scholarship and simplicity that you will come across on this subject.I could go on at great length about the book's virtues, but, in that time, you could read it for yourself. As noted, this book is well written - delightfully written - and it is as complete a rendition of the real nature of Islam as you are likely to encounter. Other tombs may go on at great length (while being quite good), but none cuts to the chase, while still maintaining its scholarly balance, as well as Davis's gift of enlightenment. It is quite simply a must read, a wake up call to an America sleep-walking its way toward a catastrophe. Davis is, quite simply, a 21st century Paul Revere. For your sake, and that of your family, I strongly encourage you to read this little masterpiece!

4.0 out of 5 stars An Entertaining Tour Of An Urban Brothel, July 30, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
An enjoyable and entertaining read. Leibowitz makes clear what most followers of the political scene already know - that (1) Washington types are not to be taken seriously because they are not serious people, and (2) there's no need to do so since they take themselves so seriously (a common failing among people who are not to be taken seriously). Time and again, in the course of reading This Town, I was reminded of Ronald Reagan's observation that "It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first." That said, the author is a good writer and does a nice job of taking you on a tour of the urban brothel in which our "leaders" and their observers and chroniclers gather to get rich while the rest of the country is mired in economic difficulties. As one wades through the pages of This Town, one can't help but reflect on the differences in character and courage between those who led our country at the time of its creation and the clowns who do so now. Many of our Founding Fathers went to Philadelphia and New York wealthy and left, not only not so wealthy, but with a price on their heads, after having pledged their lives and sacred honor in the cause of that creation. Today's "leaders" (at least most of them) go to Washington poor and leave (if, as the author points out, they ever leave at all) wealthy - on our dime (forget 'sacred honor; most of them have none to offer up). But, as for the book, read it - I think you'll enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN OBSERVER GAINS HER ENLIGHTENMENT OBSERVING HER COUNTRY LOSE ITS, July 20, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Guardian Angel (Kindle Edition)
Guardain Angel, like any work of Melanie Phillips, is a must read. Phillips is a penetrating thinker, a lucid writer, a courageous patriot, and a Western Civilization treasure. Nowhere has she done so much, so well, to illuminate the path she has followed in the most arduous and depressing task of her illumination, losing her innocence and gaining her enlightenment while watching her country lose its. She takes you down that eye-opening path, issue by issue, while doing so at great personal cost - to her, to her family, and to her illusions. While always a joy to read, her latest effort, Guardian Angel, is, as noted, a must read for any one who values Western Civilization; it is Phillips at her best, which, needless to say, is as good as it gets.

5.0 out of 5 stars STEIN HITS THE NAIL ON THE HEAD AGAIN, July 13, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am a great fan of Harry Stein's; he doesn't mince (or waste) words - he just cuts right to the chase, and he has a wonderful ability to take a wrecking ball to any edifice built on a foundation of political correctness. No where does he do it as succinctly, as directly, as honestly, and as compellingly clearly as he does here in The Idiot Vote. What others have politely labeled the "low information voter," Stein has quite correctly (and more appropriately) labeled - the no information voter, or in Harry's less generous (but more correct and colorful) label, The Idiot Vote. Unfortunately, as the essay suggests, they are becoming the majority vote, which does not bode well for our country's future - and why this effort is a must read. If this booklet doesn't wake you up, you're not sleeping you're dead (and, unfortunately, so will the country be, if enough of us don't wake up and take it back).

2.0 out of 5 stars THE BOOK WAS NOT DISAPPOINTING: ITS SUBJECT WAS, June 21, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was a great fan of the era and a great fan of Esther Williams during the era. That said, on finding out that she, in effect, abandoned her children at the direction of an adolescent narcissist, I lost all respect for the woman. And this biography, although well written, does nothing to restore that respect. She provides almost no insight into the reasons behind her first 3 marital choices - all 3 obviously very inadequate men. Her first choice, apparently to escape the hedonistic goings on at the Acquacade, was a controlling medical student - a Jew who hated being a Jew - who could not accept her being in the movies; her second, an overgrown, irresponsible child who drank himself into a stupor and gambled away all of her earnings, throwing her into bankruptcy; and her third, Fernando Llamas (who contrary to Billy Crystal's characterization, would seem to be less than "mahvelous), an egocentric jerk who, not only refused to take on any responsibility having to do with her children, but significantly restricted her access to them. After informing the reader that she frequently called on her mother's advice to the effect that one must always ask him or herself what part of the problem are you, she fails to come close to own up to why she let this man so hollow her out to the point that she was no longer Esther Williams but just a subservient house frau, Esther Llamas. The book, thanks to Digby Diehl, is a good read, but, unfortunately, it leaves you wondering who the real Esther Williams was.

5.0 out of 5 stars A VERY WORTHWHILE READ, April 12, 2013
Normally one reads books pertaining to health - particularly books dealing with chronic health problems - out of a sense of urgency, or, at the very least, a feeling of need. Rarely are they either easy to read or enjoyable in doing so. This book, however, is that rare exception. it is incredibly informative; it makes that information available in a highly readable manner (i.e. it is very user friendly); it does so succinctly but enjoyably; and, to cut to the chase, it is far and away the best health book that I have ever read - and I have been reading health books for the better part of 60 years. It is packed full of extremely useful tools for how to live a healthier life, and its value is not limited to those suffering from a chronic condition. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and profited greatly from doing so. I highly recommend it to those seeking to lead a healthy life (whether suffering from a chronic condition or not). And who would not wish to live a healthier life?
