5.0 out of 5 stars great pacing, July 7, 2013

Very readable and good pacing. The division of the book into acts really allows for good flow and feel. Comparing to first 2 books, this is a must read if you play the game. Great info on Lion's Arch history and foundations.

4.0 out of 5 stars A breathe of fresh air, September 2, 2012
Graphics:
A+
The art behind the graphics is top notch. It is not the same as a fancy realistic rendering you would see in Crysis rather more geared towards artistic excellence. The entire game is like a surreal painting.

Gameplay:
A+
Having played this since headstart up to level 30+, the game play is extremely engaging and exciting. PVP maps play out quick and reflex heavy. It is more of fast pace action you would see in games like team fortress 2 and counter strike mixed into a RPG.

Launch:
B
For the most part, core features have worked reliably for me at launch. I do feel that the popularity of the game is Anet's downfall. Although Anet had performed numerous stress tests, nothing could have prepared them for 400k simultaneous users hitting the servers. Popular services such as item trading services and instance/guild functioned with glitches. This is the main reason for me knocking a star off. Anet really need to beef up the network code/infrastructure to handle the auxiliary services which support the game. Mind you, they would need a nasdaq/nyse reliable real time system to support the amount of users they have. I firmly believed, had the game been less popular, these may not even had been issues evidenced by them working properly during beta.

Support:
C
Anet support is heavily understaffed and really needs to add in some phone support to better help customers more promptly. 72+ hrs response to e-tickets will not win any service rewards. I can empathize with many frustrated users who have been unable to log in to the game.

Bannings:
A
Many 1 star reviews here and negative comments are due to bannings. Personally, I believe ANet acted righteously in playing the tough card with respect to banning exploiters. Frankly, many online games are plagued by rotten people and population. A firm stance to set the standards for behavior in the game can go a long way in creating an enjoyable experience for everyone.
Some of the bannings were due to accounts being hijacked by gold sellers. These are mainly to protect the user accounts. Many users use same login details on multiple sites or have compromised computer system. This could have been averted had a hardware key for 2 factor authentication been part of the standard package and required.

old version of this product with the packaging shown in the picture was good. the new brown crosshatch pattern package (3 oz bags) version is no good. seems they sold out and went for cheaper beef and/or processing. really bummed out.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent pictures, July 22, 2008
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Pro:
Great pictures. On par or better than canon sd870.
Easy to navigate menus.
Best shots feature is useful.

Con:
LCD preview display could be enhanced. The preview display quality seems to be of much poorer quality compared to Canons. This is not a big deal since the final picture looks great.

5.0 out of 5 stars leet product, March 6, 2008

This thing can pick up signals better than anything I have used. It gets a better signal than the Linksys or Buffalo router functioning as a wireless bridge (via DD-WRT or Tomato). Installation is just like any other windows device. Extremely stable connection even with crappy routers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the right amount, May 29, 2007
The book presents all the crucial information in a very organized manner. I found the presentation to be concise and easy to read.

Warning: The book does not teach you how to make a game, It explains the core api functions of OGRE and some background behind them. This should give you a good start to utilize the 3d rendering capability offered by OGRE. You need another book or a course in game design before you can really start making non-trivial games.
