3.0 out of 5 stars Great but has it's flaws., February 19, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I received one of these - per my own request for Christmas. I ordered this one to cover another piece in my living room.
I LOVE the print but my problem is fit. The problem is it barely covers from top of couch to floor. Doesn't tuck behind the top well (And I have an average couch not overstuffed). So when someone sits on it, flop - immediately it comes down. It has been a nightmare since I got these for Christmas but I LOVE the look so much I am just suffering through. I have to fix it CONSTANTLY and I get so frustrated with the kids for "living" in the room. I still couldn't find a product as nice looking elsewhere so like I said - I did buy a second for another piece in my room. But there is so much room for improving this product. It is plenty long enough to cover the length of the couch just not the height one bit.

My 3 kids would probably rate this a 1. I love the look when no one has sat on it and it is fixed. So I rate it neutral. Pretty but I have to sit down sometime!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great homeschool tool for Creationists, February 11, 2012
This review is from: World of Science (Hardcover)
I received World of Science for review from New Leaf Press (And was not required to give a positive review). I was very pleased with this science book. I would say it is good for teaching 3rd grade through high school. There is a LOT of information jammed packed in this book. The pictures are amazing. The information lines up with Creation Scientists so being a Creationist as I am - this book is perfect for our family. It is chunked into sections that make the book easy to use. At the end of the book are a LOT of experiments that you can do at home. I love the fact that they are in the end of the book. Science books often remind me of candy aisles at the grocery store. I must admit that science experiments go to the back burner in my homeschool when time is short or life is hectic. But the most frustrating thing is when the kids SEE the experiments and immediately HAVE TO DO THEM. This way being in the back I can use the book and if I WANT to do the experiments I can. If I don't it is not in the kids minds.

This is a great addition to our homeschool and I would highly recommend it. Infact I already have to a friend. :) And now all of you!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Homeschool Tool!, February 11, 2012
This review is from: World of Animals (Hardcover)
My children and I have been going through Animals this year in Science for Homeschool and using another book that is rather "Light" on the material. I received this book for review from New Leaf Press (and was not required to give a positive review) and have been in awe at the great material in this book.

The pictures are BEAUTIFUL. The book is full of information and not just little surface facts. This is really a great science book.
Being a Creationist it is very important to me to find the scientists that show the way of our creator. And this book does that! I do not have to cringe or worry that something will be the THEORY of evolution. That itself in a book full of good information that interests my kids and keeps them wanting to go back to the book is PRICELESS!

I would say this book is good for using in homeschools with 3rd graders and above. Sure younger will like it too but beneficial to learning I would place it from 3rd through high school.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book! A Tear Jerker!, February 1, 2012
This review is from: Firefly Lane (Paperback)
I bought this book because I had read a few others from Kristin Hannah and enjoyed them.
This book was hard for me to related to at first. The girls come from a complete different lifestyle then I grew up with. But their friendship draws you into the story. I could relate to Katie a lot. Tully - not so much :)

I found the way the author wrote the story that I was very much pulled into it. It is a deep book. The first half I read very slow. Not a quick read. What I was reading was intense and I only read for small periods at a time. I am not sure when this book did it but it became a not able to put down in the end.

I will not spoil the story line but I have to say - get your tissues. My 6 year old was like- what is wrong mommy. I was bawling for most of the last third of the book. The author hit all my sides. The insecure wife, the best friend, the mom. The struggles. And as the back of the book says - the ultimate betrayal. I have to say I was hooked on wondering what that would be. It was eating me alive to know.

I am very very pleased that the author did not go the typical what you think route. This book never is predictable.

Caution to readers incase you might like to know before hand. There is a few carefully placed F words. There is a few pot smoking instances. But the book was written very tastefully and very easy to relate to. I passed it on to my mom to read!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Book for young teenaged girls., February 1, 2012
From Blah to Awe: Shaking Up a Boring Faith is a nice book for early teenage girls. Jenna Lucado Bishop uses a tone that speaks right to the reader in a friendly way. She is "real" with her reader and doesn't hold back in sharing all the sides of her own heart. She is easy to relate to.

This book is not very deep but hits the surface of very important things to ponder and I found myself saying "right!" and "Exactly" quite a few times.

I love how she often puts spots for the reader to respond right in the book. She encourages you to use this book interactively to get the most of it. She often pauses for your response or to let you think about things and also guides you in short prayers.

I think this would be a great gift for teen girls.

I was given this book free from booksneeze.com and was not required to give a positive review.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a PERFECT gift for any young boy, January 27, 2012
This review is from: Dinosaur Pak and Stak (Board book)
I just received the Dinosaur Pak and Stak by Dan Lietha for review today. Immediately my 3 children, ages 3, 6 and 9 started to enjoy it. The product is for preschoolers but in reality it is for a larger age range. The information is perfect for my older kids and they both excitedly shared which ones they had recently seen at the museum. The pictures are great. The information goes right along with the Creation Scientists view of the world. It is hard to find good Dinosaur books/toys for families who believe the young earth science. We eagerly welcome all we can find.
This product is packaged really nice. A magnetic flap helps secure it closed. It comes with stacking blocks that also make puzzle pictures. The answers to the puzzles are on the back of each little book.
I highly recommend this product. For the price you cannot beat it. It would make a super gift and as I mentioned before - great for a range of ages - do not let the preschool look of the books fool you.
I received this free for review from New Leaf Press and was not required to give a positive review. THANK YOU for the opportunity because this was a great product!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice to own but not a perfect match for us., January 13, 2012
This review is from: Big Book of History (Hardcover)
I received Big Book of History for review from New Leaf Publishers. I was very excited since it is geared to ages 7-12 and I have a 9 year old daughter. The day it came we unfolded it all out in our home. This was fun for about three seconds and then my 3 year old came tramping in. The time my 9 year old tried to actually read and enjoy was interrupted constantly by my cries of "GET OFF of the PAGES" to her brother. And as a lot of other homeschoolers, younger kids are just part of our life. If it was on a wall that would be cool but I don't have a wall that big for it.

I liked the information and the pictures and information is nice and presented really well.

But this book was good for an hour or so then done. It is not a suppliment to a specific curriculum so it was hit or miss if we were studying the things on the time line currently. It reminded me of sitting down with a Ripleys Believe it or not book. Great for the time but not something you read over and over.

I appreciate owning it but not something I would shout from the roof tops to tell others they had to buy.

I received this free for review and was not obligated to give a positive review.

3.0 out of 5 stars This works but if you want the real thing - spring for a diva, January 12, 2012
I used Instead to see if buying a Diva cup would be worth it to me. Kinda like - if I could use these, then I will spring for the real thing.

I liked Instead. They worked GREAT! But once I used a diva cup I would not go back.

The pros of the Instead are so much nicer than pads/tampons. The blood pools instead of being soaked up and just not having the cottony stuff was well worth it in keeping me from getting a rash or the icky time of the month feeling.

the cons is that the RING on Instead is big! And not soft! I guess if I wrote this review BEFORE using a Diva I would be able to rave about it more. But after finding the better... it is hard.

So.. if you want to see if you like the idea of a cup, this is the way to go.

I did however spill a lot more with this. But when it is coming out over the toilet - does it really matter if it stays in the cup? not really.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am one of the diva cups biggest fans!, January 12, 2012
I think I have talked at least 4 friends into using one of these. Peoples first reaction is disbelief that a product like this even exists! But take it from me - once you find the love of the diva you will be telling others too.

Here is my helpful info...

First things first - cut the stem completely off and make sure it is filed down so it is not pinchy. You don't need a handle and all it does is pinch me. Cut it off!

Second - GIVE IT TIME! If you use it one cycle and still don't like it - try again. Please give it a chance. Once you do, you will be glad you did.

I think the hardest part of the diva is learning to get it to pop open inside. Fold it over and my trick is to bear down while pushing it in. Because the bearing down and sometimes twisting helps pop it open.

Then - is it hard in a restroom in public - not really. I wipe it out with tissue and if I can rinse in a sink I do. If not, Just put it back in. I have never had any problems with public.

If you pee and it comes out a little just push it back up in there. If you want to take it out and reinsert ok. But you don't have to.

If you have used the "Instead" cups and think it is the same thing as this you are wrong. I have used both and really the "Instead" is nice but nothing like this at all imo.

My friends and I laugh at the cute little pin "DIVA" gives you. We ask each other if we are "wearing our pin" but really - it is nice. Buy this product you will not be sorry! If you are - you have not given it enough of a chance.

Oh and one more thing - not messy. I don't get it all over me. It pulls straight down and you can remove it very easy without spilling. But I would practice the first few times at home just incase you get sloppy with your removal. But once you learn how, it is not a problem.

This ink was exactly like expected. I often purchased this combo pack from Walmart but to save a trip to the store I found it on amazon.com . It was also cheaper in price. Very pleased with this purchase. For sure will be getting again in the future.
