Bayer Advanced Aspirin Extra Strength, 500mg, 80 Coated Tablets
Bayer Advanced Aspirin Extra Strength, 500mg, 80 Coated Tablets

4.0 out of 5 stars crumbling pills? Contact Bayer for replacement, March 20, 2014
Glad to see these posts which confirmed that my experience with these pills was not a fluke. The pills disintegrated in the bottle a few months after opening. The vinegar odor and taste is due to aspirin's acidic nature. It was frightening and worrisome. The same coating and formula that makes these aspirin readily absorbable, apparently also makes them susceptible to humidity. Contact Bayer via telephone or its website. Bayer now sells this formulation in blister packaging to protect against humidity. Bayer's number one recommendation: DO NOT STORE THEM IN THE BATHROOM OR A HUMID ENVIRONMENT. I intend to use the product replacement coupon sent to me. This new kind of aspirin works well and fast.

General Tools NGD100 Natural Gas Detector
General Tools NGD100 Natural Gas Detector

1.0 out of 5 stars Mine didn't work - it's now a discontinued product, December 30, 2013
Judging from the reviews, it seems all cheap gas detectors have a high defect rate. It's hit or miss whether the one you buy will work or stay working for long. Be prepared to exchange it. My unit alarmed 4 seconds after pressing down the On button, regardless of circumstance, even outside in the open air. It's a great concept. Hope someone can manufacture a robust cheap gas detector.

2.0 out of 5 stars vanity press - puff piece biography. Whyly who?, January 23, 2012
A not particularly well-written vanity biography about a rich man from Texas. The over-the-top book description posted here on Amazon let's you know up front that this is a feel-good piece, not a researched analytical biography. Doesn't give you much understanding or context of the times, the industry, technology, or the economic climate. It has the feel of a junior high text book, which isn't altogether a bad thing as the colorful lay-out is entertaining. This is more of a coffee table picture book than a text. The author is lazy in characterizing people. A woman is described as 'a real southern Belle.' A colleague 'is an encyclopedia - he knows everything.' Here's a thigh slapper - Hamilton states that a New Englander named Wilson has a 'Boston Irish accent.' Huh? A what? Bostonians will be puzzled to see their Yankee accent attributed to Ireland. It's a quick read. For those who lived through these times, all the namedropping will refresh your memories of the period.

4.0 out of 5 stars Complain to the FTC about the 2-disc DVD set, June 24, 2011
I wanted to buy this 2-disc set via my Amazon account. However, it was only offered for sale at Walmart. Unless you found one of these discussion forums, how would you know that a 2-disc set of Deathly Hallows, Part 1 was even available for sale? What if you don't have a Walmart store in your area? You can't readily get to any in our state by public transit. Walmart's website sold out within days. No indication it will be re-stocked.

This has harmed consumers. The 2 disc DVD set is now being offered for 400% of the $20 retail price. It was unfair and likely an illegal trade practice for WB to restrict sales of the 2-disc DVD set to Walmart. Harry Potter isn't just any other movie franchise; it is a market mover. The extra content on the Blu-ray discs could have easily been made available on the DVD player version. Was this a cynical ploy by Warner Bros. to push consumers to the more profitable Blu-Ray platform? It isn't a trivial switch. Besides buying a Blu-ray player, you also have to buy a digital TV, cables, and upgrades.

The product description is confusing and mis-leading. Walmart posted the Combo description for the 2-disc set. No wonder so many people bought the Combo set only to find out afterwards that the extra content wasn't viewable on DVD players. Some retailers offered only the expensive Blu-ray Combo set, and not the DVD single. That's not the way to treat customers.

WB rushed these discs to market. The 2-disc set was sloppily produced, but at least they work! Many Amazon posts complain about poor quality Blu-Ray and DVD discs: unviewable picture, bad color, no contrast, pixelation, screen freezes, and too much advertising content. This was outrageous.

Take a minute to complain where it can get some traction. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will act if enough of us complain about unfair trade practices, deceptive advertising, and shoddy quality. The long awaited final film in the series comes out this summer. Do we want to go through this again when Deathly Hallow Part 2 is released on DVD? I want a 2-disc DVD set to complete my collection. It should be readily available and at a fair price. Children can ask their parents to file the complaint either in a letter or online.

The FTC has an online complaint form. I may not be allowed to post the address here so search for 'ftccomplaintassistant'. Alternatively, you can send a letter to the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection in Washington, D.C. They also have a toll-free telephone line.
