1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of crap, May 21, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a rudimentary piece of "sony guts" kind of junk. A little overhead obstacle (tree/coud/roof of a car)
And the item loses lock on the satellite . If you are locked, take a pic, walk for 30min and try to take another pic, you have to wait for the gps lock again because Promote was in standby mode and lost the gps. which in turn ruins your photo shooting experience especially if you are trying to make a trail of photo. You have to have the shutter button always half pressed for the device to keep its coordinates. I used to have a Solmeta before i broke it and it performed wayyyyy better. I could take pictures indoors and have a gps lock with solmeta. This one Promote... Not a chance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book! left me wanting more, November 22, 2011

This review is from: Steve Jobs (Hardcover)
I am not commenting on Steve's life or Steve Jobs himself. the book did an awesome job detailing the life of the man that put a dent in the universe. These are exceptional individuals that, unfortunately, this great country will not experience again.
The book is very well written, Isaacson Style keeps you hooked to read more. I was worried about the 600 pages but found myself reluctant to put the book down.
I wish Isaacson developed the book more around JOBS way of thinking, management style and his views about the world, how he dealt with the family.
Mainly more of the last part of the book where you start reading about the Man instead of about the legend.

i am definitely buying his Einstein book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works OK -- But....!!!, May 9, 2008
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Works fine. easy to setup. assign IP to the print server and load the cd for printer port driver. The only problem I found so far is when you have paper jam, the jobs get stuck in the server and you have to restart it. and reprint.
for bi-directional printers -- Multifunction (scanner, printers etc) you loose the scanning feature from your pc because there is no more direct communication between pc and printer.

one thumb Up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware Dell Laptop Users -- XP, May 8, 2008
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Updated Entry: 5/14/08
this reader will not work with PCs/LAPTOP that has the 4pin connector.
4 pin is the really small 1394 port and is not powered. the reader will not be recognized by Windows. If you don't have 6 pin or 9 pin ports don't buy it, use USB 2.0 instead. you will get the same speed results.
Thanks

If you use a Windows PC with Firewire 4 PIN which is the small connector, you need to purchase an additional cable. the item description on Amazon did not "enumerate" the PINs and when you wait for it and receive it, you're a bit disappointed for not being able to use the reader. you can purchase a cable 1394b 9pin to 1394 4 pin from Fry's for $8.00

so Have not used the reader for 2 days now because of this!!! stupid design from Sandisk
ps: wanted to change my star rating from 3 to 1 but you can't edit that.

Lebanon: A House Divided

5.0 out of 5 stars Sour Grapes - I was doubly duped :-(, March 3, 2007
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Because Lebanon-Death of a Nation and Lebanon-House divided are the same books.

The reader is deceived into thinking that House divided is a continuation of Death of a Nation. Unfortunately, after purchasing both books (because of different titles), we found out that they are exactly identical. The claim of "with new introduction" is nothing but a measly page and a half write-up that adds no value to the overall read, but certainly puts more money in Sandra's pocket.

Getting over this disappointment, Sandra's book about the war in Lebanon during the 1975-1989 period is a great read. Without judgment or prejudice, she sheds lights on the politics of the "Zuama" their alliances and re-alliances during that period of Lebanon and how all Lebanese have suffered because of them.

It will be interesting to see if she will write a true-continuation about the period 1989--2003 and the similarities of those situations with the past.

The Jesus Papers: Exposing the Greatest Cover-Up in History
The Jesus Papers: Exposing the Greatest Cover-Up in History
by Michael Baigent

2.0 out of 5 stars 286 papers (pages) of disappointment !!!, January 2, 2007
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Baigent should have stopped at Holy Blood Holy Grail (HBHG). I think he wrote the Jesus papers book hastily to ride the wave of the Da Vinci Code's hype and benefit from the sales.

He OVER promises at the beginning of the book and UNDER delivers at the end.

Basically the entire book revolves around him seeing two papyrus documents encased in glass from someone, somewhere sometimes (page 271). He doesn't even confirm that these papers are actually the letters written by Jesus to the Sanhedrin denying his divinity to them. And the irony is that these papers are supposed to be the basis of his argument in the book.

The reason why Baigent can't confirm the papers is because stupidly enough he can't even read them.

"...I was silent as I fully enjoyed the moment.......I wished above all that I might have familiarity with ancient languages......p.271".

Wouldn't you think that someone like Baigent who's been so involved and dedicated in refuting the religious myth of Jesus would have attempted to learn Aramaic in the last 25 years since he published HBHG?

He couldn't even depict a sentence, a word that tells us something of substance from these papers?????

He points out the conspiracies of the church and divulges how petty and shady the black market sales of antiquities by devious people are, yet he expects us to trust this someone's word that the papers he showed him for a minute are the letters of Jesus.

What a frustrating read!
