1.0 out of 5 stars Product Not As Described, August 21, 2013
The cover I received matches the cover shown but the contents do not match the "Look Inside". Book I got only has 2 plays and doesn't even have all the pages of original print it's suppose to reproduce, missing contents and half the introduction. It is not the same book advertised.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource, February 4, 2009
This is a great fast paced introduction to several structures in homotopy theory, by way of carefully explaining Steenrod Squares. You need to understand basic algebraic topology homology/cohomology/homotopy groups very well already, up to the point of obstruction theory and ideally Postnikov towers to take good advantage of what the book offers. The first chapter is an introduction to Eilenberg-MacLane spaces with a 1.5 page review of obstruction theory. The book is well written and pedagogical for the advanced student.

4.0 out of 5 stars Resource for deep knowledge of Point-Set Topology, February 4, 2009
This book is a must have for anyone who wants to contribute to remaining questions in point-set topology. Property inheritance relationship diagrams fill the book, quickly giving someone a good knowledge of all the classic point-set properties of spaces more thoroughly than is ever taught in grad-school these days. The only draw back is that the book and counterexamples deal strictly with point-set. How nice it would be to have a new edition (or volume two) of this type of book pertaining to algebraic topology. For example, what is an example of a non-contractible space with all zero homotopy groups? This question (and any algebraic top. questions) wont be answered in Steen's book.
