5.0 out of 5 stars No messy cooler full of melted icewater, May 28, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a terrific accessory for a road trip. It's big enough to hold substantial amounts of cooled food and drinks and small enough to find a place in the passenger compartment. You don't have to deal with the whole melted ice--soggy food thing at all.

The Koolatron Voyager has moderate but sufficient cooling capacity. It can't cool down warm food quickly, but it works perfectly when you start out with pre-cooled food and add a couple of frozen "blue ice" packets, as Koolatron suggests. It can work as a straight-up home 'fridge, but the initial cooling will be pretty slow.

It requires enough power to drain your car battery overnight, so it's essential that you unplug it when the engine will be off for more than two or three hours. It's not enough of a power draw to affect your mileage or strain your car electrical system, though.

I think Koolatron hit the right trade off between cooling capacity and power draw. Refrigeration requires a LOT of power. It won't be able to fully overcome the heat build-up inside a car parked in the sun.

If your family is like mine, you'll also want a splitter for you car's 12 volt socket so that there's a way to charge cell phones etc. at the same time as you're running the cooler.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works; the price was right and the service was good, January 21, 2014

I bought this battery for an old and much loved Makita power tool. The battery fits, it works well and it was shipped promptly – a good deal all around.

2.0 out of 5 stars I got an 8-1/2" straw, not a 9-1/2" straw, September 5, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Stainless Steel Drinking Straw
You can buy 8-1/2" long stainless steel straws cheaper than this -- I know because I already have some. They're a little too short for the thermos I use in my car so I thought I'd try this one, which was described as being 9-1/2" long.

Unfortunately, I received a straw that's identical to the 8-1/2" ones I already have.

I don't know if I was sent the wrong model of straw or if I got the "right" straw but it was inaccurately described. Either way, for something this cheap it's too much of a hassle to sort it all out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just an emery board, a plastic container and a weird sponge with fine sandpaper on it, August 24, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This product is OK, but there's nothing special or especially useful here. You might as well just buy some emery boards -- that's what you get along with some hype and packaging. At least it was cheap.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite good, November 18, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
You'll be extremely pleased with this product if you are aware that there are two different types of screen protectors in the package (front and back) and are meticulous in applying them to your iPhone.

If you aren't both aware and meticulous, you'll be less pleased. Still, by the time you're applying the second set of covers you'll have figured out what went wrong the first time. Good thing that the package contains two sets of covers.

3.0 out of 5 stars Smallish gloves with thinish gel cushioning, September 18, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These gloves are OK, but just OK. They run on the small side, but not as badly as the Pearl Izumi gloves do. The advertized gel cushioning is there, but it doesn't amount to much.

It's hard to know why anyone would choose these gloves over any of several other -- and better -- gel-cushioned cycling gloves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Size = very good. Cushioning = OK, September 15, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Louis Garneau Biogel RX Glove
It was nice to be able to order XXL cycling gloves -- a first! -- and they fit my can-easily-palm-a-basketball hands very well.

The cushioning is OK, though they're certainly not best I've had for that.

Pearl Izumi Men' Select Gel Glove, XX-Large, True Blue
Pearl Izumi Men' Select Gel Glove, XX-Large, True Blue

3.0 out of 5 stars Size runs small; the padding is medium at best, September 14, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was disappointed in this pair Pearl Izumi XXL Gel gloves -- they're smaller than the ones I've bought in the past and the cushioning pads are thinner. I'll use them -- it's very hard to find gloves in my size -- but I do wish that manufacturers would avoid changing their sizing standards.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too tight, July 5, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Like another reviewer, I found this product to be too tight for my head -- downright uncomfortable.

If you are a big person, consider buying the Halo Protex skullcap (http://www.amazon.com/Halo-Protex-Skull-Cap-Royal/dp/B002ISYAWQ/ref=pd_rhf_se_p_t_1) or the Headsweats Classic cycling cap (http://www.amazon.com/Headsweats-CoolMax-Classic-Blue/dp/B000BR2956/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1341523773&sr=8-7&keywords=headsweats+classic) instead.

I like the Halo a lot. It has smaller ties, it fits me well and they offer free product returns. The Headsweats Classic is also very good, though the reason I tried this style of Headsweats was to avoid the lump that the ties on the Classic make -- they're slightly awkward under a cycling helmet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid, heavy & traditional, March 6, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These are your standard, heavy beer mugs, perfect for freezing ahead of time so the mug is frosty and the beer stays really cold.

They look like they came straight out of a beer commercial or maybe a bar scene in a movie -- except that if someone clocked you with one of these, you wouldn't just shake it off and punch him. You'd be doing really well if you could manage to babble incoherently at the paramedics.

The issues that the other reviewers have noted -- thanks for the info -- don't matter to me at all. The mugs were apparently manufactured by pouring molten glass into mug-shaped forms, so there's a slight seam in the mug handle. That's why they cost so little -- they're beer mugs, not hand-blown works of art. They also have the beer mug's traditional hollow bottom -- any dishwasher water that lands there, stays there. I pour that water out on my way from the dishwasher to the freezer and I'm done.

Good price. Shipped quickly. Came bubble-wrapped against breakage. Keep the beer cold. Manly -- and maybe intriguingly feminine. Really, what more could you ask?
