5.0 out of 5 stars As always, awesome., October 30, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am a huge fan of these little books, and this is definitely one of their most useful yet. Perfect for weeknight dinners, this book is filled with quick(ish) and delicious recipes. Also includes a useful section on italian wines written by one of their friends. I will definitely be adding some of these recipes to my rotation.

Also, these recipes appear to me to be separate from those included in the larger cookbook, whereas with the earlier texts there is some overlap (despite that fact, I still recommend getting all of them).

2.0 out of 5 stars Painful Interface, January 13, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've had this for a while and only done a couple of puzzles because the interface is barely useable. On the plus side it includes a small selection of NYtimes Sunday puzzles. On the down side the interface is almost too painful to use. If you like tapping a screen and seeing nothing happen until the app is good and ready to respond, or jumping around the puzzle rather than solving by section, or even being certain that what you thought you typed is what the app read. Then this form of soft torture is just for you. Too bad there doesn't seem to be a better NYtimes app. this one is not worthy if the name.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like the other books, but bigger!, October 30, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you like the little canal house books that they put out three times a year, then you'll like this. This book has bigger pictures and more recipes. It goes by month, and covers the entire year. The Canal House books are all fantastic and well worth getting (I am lucky enough to have them all!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cookbook!, April 17, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The original What to Cook & How to Cook It is great, and this is more of the same. In terms of recipes, I think I like the first book better, but this one still has plenty of recipes that I am interested in. In this book Hornby has a few more sections than in the first, on things like grilling and picnic recipes. As with the first book, there are tons of pictures, including one for each step of a recipe. The instructions are simple and clear, and the recipes range from easy to slightly more difficult. All in all, an excellent book. I hope Hornby writes another.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Cheaply built but otherwise it worked OK for 4months, November 10, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Good price, great feature having lifetime maps. BUT it is so cheaply made it makes you want to cry. The On/Off/Reset switch is the only external button, and it feels like it will break after one use. The power is via a tiny Micro USB jack so wobbly it doesn't stay in well, and not even an LED to let you know the thing is charging. Features are nice and useable, but my unit kept jumping back to the "Turn List" page all by itself, and then after 4 months it busted. It just stopped seeing satellites, nothing at all. It is on it's way back under warranty, but I wouldn't buy another. Oh and customer service was as we have been trained to expect, a 20 minute wait to be told some nonsense, spent 2 hrs updating Software, but of course that did nothing. The unit has to be repaired.
