Pachmayr Grips For Rossi Small Frames
Pachmayr Grips For Rossi Small Frames

Price: $30.23
3 used & new from $26.15

3.0 out of 5 stars sloppy fit, November 20, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The title says it all. I put this on a small frame Rossi and there are noticeable gaps around the bottom and front strap. There is also a raised molding ridge on the backstrap. Sloppy quality control. Some fitting is required to make this grip as advertised.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice case for the price, November 8, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This case is made from a tough material, the stitching is good, the zipper is a quality heavy duty one, and it is the perfect size for either a broken down M4/CAR length rifle or an AR pistol with a 10.5" barrel or shorter. The only real weak point is the 'mag pouches' which are just open top pockets sewn sideways inside one side of the case. Any magazine put in here is going to fall out. There should be a velcro strap that can be used to retain things in the pockets. They work fine for slings or a cleaning rag though.

Good value for the money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Holds up to light use, August 19, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ended up using this cot over the course of a year or so, once or twice a week, while remodeling an empty house. After maybe 50 uses one of the sides ripped out while I was getting out of the cot and had a fair amount of weight focused on a small area. I'm over 230 pounds, so I guess that is to eventually be expected, but I was disappointed that the material and stitching wasn't of better quality.

Comfort wise, it's okay. I ended up using an inflatable camp pad over the canvas to make it more comfortable and to provide more of a thermal barrier. The length is good for someone in the 6'3 range but probably not much over that. Width is a tad bit narrow if you have broader shoulders, but I got used to it.

Setup is fairly simple after you do it once and get the technique down.

Overall, it's a decent light use cot but probably not something you will want to be sleeping on over a long period of time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, August 19, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have used this on multiple back country trips for the last couple of years, filtered water that looked terrible and had bot mud and bug babies in it, and this unit made it drinkable. It is also very rugged, and easy to swap parts out on (the ceramic element and the filter do not last forever).

All in all, it's a great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars bags, August 8, 2013

These are great general purpose storage bags...a bit small for a paperback book but good for a great many other things. They are a lot more sturdy and durable than sandwich bags.

5.0 out of 5 stars so good, August 8, 2013
This is perfect instant coffee for hiking, or for any other time. It tastes good, and it is a fraction of the cost of the fru fru Starbucks and Tullys stuff sold in the supermarkets. Get some!

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting read, could have been better, August 8, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you want some insight in to the original Detonics operation, this is your book, in fact it is the only book I have run across that talks about this short lived but influential gun maker.

I gave this book a three star rating, and would have given it a two and a half were that an option, for a few reasons. One, there are numerous spelling and grammatical errors. Secondly, there are some editing errors. Thirdly, it is far too short of a book for the price being asked. I am not a very fast reader yet finished this book in about an hour. That is far too short to be rated much more than a short story.

Be warned that most of this book focuses on the Author, Mr. Chinn, and his relationship with Sid Woodcock who was a co-founder of the original Detonics plant in Bellevue, WA. A lot of what he has to say has little to do with Detonics. He also spends a lot of time talking about Kung-Fu, which isn't in and of itself a bad thing, but has nothing to do with Guns - which is the reason why I bought this book.

All in all, this book is enjoyable but I felt it could have been much better. The Author barely touches on some stories that I would have liked to hear more about. The book is supposed to be about Sid Woodcock, but we never really hear where he was from or how he grew up, or what his family life was like, or what it was like for him to run a gun company that eventually failed for fiscal reasons - or what he did with himself afterwards, and on and on. Anecdotal stories are related without much context, which left me wondering if segments of the story were supposed to be true or an example of Sid's sense of humor. The book has a rushed to production and incomplete feel about it because of that.

This review is from: 8534 OD Mosquito Headnet (Apparel)
The title says it all. These head bug nets also make good bags to store dirty clothes in on hikes, or can be used to gather water from melting snow. Overall, it's a good item to throw in your backpack.

2.0 out of 5 stars Misleading product label, June 14, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a quality lock, I'm not denying that, it's just that the idea of locking up your valuables with a lock that can then be opened by some guy in the security screening room when you aren't present is a very bad one. Try searching 'TSA Locks don't always keep valuables safe' some time, and read about how often people have used locks such as this on their cases, thinking they are the only ones TSA will allow, only to find things stolen from their case on the other end.

In short, you don't want a lock that someone else can open when flying. The way it works is that if your bag/case needs to be inspected, they will tell you so and do so with you there. I've flown with Firearms a half dozen times now and there is no way in hell I would put a lock such as this on it.

Do your research, and avoid this type of lock.
