1.0 out of 5 stars Bissell Clearview Bagless Upright 3583 really SUCKS, but not in a good way...poor ergonomics and other dangerous features., October 6, 2014
I am a practicing chiropractor whose home-office requires a lightweight, upright vacuum to keep a clean environment. I've owned over a dozen uprights and canister vacs since I went into practice in 1986 and I've got some serious criticism of this unit.

First, the on/off switch is located way too low on the side of the unit and requires even a short person like myself to have to bend over from the waist each and every time just to turn the unit on or off. Yes, I try to remember to bend at the knees; but I'm not perfect; and how many people have my knowledge and experience? The on/off switch should be located right up there on or near the top of the handle like other brands (like the Hoover WindTunnel, for instance).

Next, the Bissel's hose and single shorty 11" extension wand are much too short and awkwardly stored too low on the unit's chassis base, requiring the operator to bend over too far and too often to implement the tools for use at the end of the deficient hose and wand to access for use under furniture and into corners, like getting to the floor behind a toilet or under a low table; thus causing more lowback strain. (And don't think that you'll be able to swap the shorty wand for an extension wand from your old non-3583 unit or purchase a wand from Bissell to lengthen the hose...it's a frustrating ordeal bound for failure, as I have discovered the last few days. Apparently, Bissell has purposely made the stock wand incompatible with other brands' wands and doesn't even make one of its own that you can add on because of a decreased suction problem should one actually increase the vacuum tube length). Consequently, you will have to either bend way down while holding the wand at or below knee level, or get on all fours on the floor in order to use the hose-wand-dust tool combo. It's the continuous bending and straining to access the tools and/or to get low enough to use the tools that add up to strain injury.

WARNING: THE USE OF THIS BISSELL UNIT IS HIGH RISK AND IS DANGEROUS FOR ANYONE WITH A HISTORY OF ANY LOW BACK PROBLEMS AND COULD ULTIMATELY LEAD TO RUPTURED OR HERNIATED LUMBAR INTERVERTEBRAL DISKS.

For the same money you can get a Hoover WindTunnel with longer, multiple interfacing extension wands and an on/off switch located on the handle and much better ergonomics thus saving you from back strain or serious injury. IMO, a person should spend a few more dollars and buy a Hoover with better ergonomics and even a headlamp to help you see your work better as you vacuum in darker, less well lit areas.

Finally, I really don't notice a significant improvement of vacuum efficiency with the so-called OnePass feature (whatever that is); you still need to repeat strokes with this unit to get the carpets clean.

The only worthwhile feature here that impresses me is the auto cord rewind; but there again it's deficient because the cord should be 6-8 feet longer. The filters may work well enough, but other brands have mastered the vortex suction and HEPA filter tech.

This unit really doesn't show me any real improvement over other competitive brands and models while having significant deficiencies.

In the long run you may think you save a few bucks by purchasing the Bissell 3583, but you'll wind up spending much more on chiropractic or orthopedic doctor visits. Beware and Be Well!

1.0 out of 5 stars No Star rating...not worthy of even half a star!, March 6, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Goda cervical neck traction in Blue. The review webpage required that I give at least one star. 0 stars for this review. Ordered 4 of these, thought the price was right. But was I wrong!? These Goda things are no gooda...such junk. All four have the same following problems: Sphyg bulb and Valves don't work right; I've used other, more expensive units and am quite familiar with their use and function It takes 40-45 compressions of the bulb to fully inflate the collar (should take only 8-10 compressions), and then once inflated I had to pry a fully expanded unit from a patient's neck at the end of the therapy because the decompression valve doesn't work. Maybe I didn't read the instruction? Well, there's not one word, not one letter of the English language on either the box or the instruction sheet. All Chinese characters. And It stinks, quite literally of toxic plastic/vinyl and I estimate it would take several days of airing out in a wind tunnel to get rid of its rank smell. I will be returning all four for a refund.
Very disappointed. The cheap price doesn't justify the fact that Amazon sells these through their website. They should be given away for free to whomever would take them off their hands.

4.0 out of 5 stars POOR SHIPPING for such a good product., July 11, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a fine product which I've been using for years. So it's a great opportunity to find it at such a good price. It shipped and arrived quickly BUT... the items appeared to have been crammed into a flimsy, plastic, bubble-wrap envelope and shipped via the Post Office who appeared to have thrown, tossed and drop kicked the package all the way to my condo mailbox, where it was once again crammed into submission with a shoehorn. The content's glossy white presentation boxes were likewise crushed and damaged. After removing the items from the dirty and grease-covered shipping envelope, the product itself is fortunately still intact and usable, but the products' cardboard packaging was destroyed and certainly not worthy of gift giving (unless you're planning to gift it to an enemy). It's depressing to receive a pricey, high-end item such as this in such a disheveled and damaged condition. The shipping charges paid were certainly IMO more than the actual flimsy packaging would indicate. Fortunately, I'd ordered the Artistry Time Defiance Skin Care System for personal use and not as a gift. If you are shopping for gift giving purposes, I suggest qualifying the company's S&H methods first.

5.0 out of 5 stars They said it wouldn't work on my car, but...., May 23, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This 34.5" wide Windflector was too wide for my 2012 GTI. So after measuring the unit (77002) on the roof and comparing it to the actual sunroof opening after it arrived from Amazon/AutoVentShade, I returned it for an immediate no-questions asked refund and exchanged it for the smaller 32"(77001) model, which fits my car, perfectly, and which also has an upturned "euro" lip (unlike the 77002) which looks and functions really great on the car, preventing buffeting and reducing wind noise. I installed it over a month ago, have washed the car several times (use low pressure ONLY on and around the deflector) and have driven it in all types of weather and so far, have had no problems whatsoever with its adhesion to the roof. just be sure to follow instructions and try to install on a warm day (greater than 80 degrees) and I would not recommend using a drive-thru car wash with brushes) Great price for a great product! I LOVE Auto Ventshade and Amazon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Car Guys (and Gals) ONLY Need Apply, May 23, 2012

I purchased two of these Red Logo Chrome License Plate Frames for my new 2012, RED 2Dr GTI Autobahn...one for both front and rear plates. Made from excellent material and workmanship and including friction push-cap covers for the bolts, these Red Logo frames are truly the touch of class for my little hot hatch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best ROI.... EVER!, May 23, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this Orange Moonstone and Diamond Flower Pendant Necklace as a Valentine's gift for my girlfriend who is crazy about the moon, moon stones...actually anything that has to do with the moon. Well, the great deal I got on this from Amazon, combined with the excellent workmanship and detail of the necklace itself quickly became an out-of-the-park grand-slam home-run with her and is... without doubt... THE biggest Return on any investment I've ever made...NO QUESTION! Buy this for your special love-buddy and you will be forever happy you did!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Product, October 1, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is the second one of these that I've owned and have used for years. So much easier to use than the clunky accordian types of sunshade, it's easy to use inside the car's windshield and then folds up quickly and easily for out-of-the-way storage under the seat or in the rear-of-seat storage pocket. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chinese...Damn it!, September 22, 2011

I thought I'd researched this purchase well enough to determine that this Nautilus E514 was American Made. But it just arrived, and after getting a great workout just unpacking the thing, have come to the disturbing realization that it was MADE IN CHINA!!! 'Nuf said, for now.
